In the Great Qian Dynasty, Qin Ze, who transmigrated and became the son of the Tiger Might General, was cast aside by the Empress after she used him, stripped of his military power, and enfeoffed t...
"I'm sorry, sir."
After 3:30 p.m., Phili led a troop of cavalry back to the main camp, and as soon as he came to Saski's side, he lowered his head in shame.
Saskia, sitting in the chair with her arms crossed, no longer looked as angry as before, but her expression had become exceptionally gloomy.
The other officers surrounding him also had gloomy faces. In the meeting an hour earlier, Saski not only vented his anger but also led them in formulating the next battle plan.
The new operational plan remains the same: continue the attack on Pariston. However, the next attack is scheduled for tonight, shortly after midnight, and will be carried out by reserve forces that did not participate in the battle today.
Just then, with Phil's arrival, Saski suddenly spoke up, "Have you finished counting the casualties? How many people have died?"
Standing before Saski, Phil shook his head, his expression grave. "Over four thousand five hundred men, not including the wounded... and many warhorses are no longer usable..."
Despite the number of casualties, Saskia showed no sign of grief; his face remained stern, and he said coldly:
Do you know how many people have died here?
Upon hearing this, Phil's heart tightened. In fact, on his way to the camp, he had seen from afar that the battlefield was full of ruins, with at least hundreds of tanks burned by flames, and the stench of burning corpses and blood was so strong that it made him want to vomit. After arriving at the camp, he couldn't remember how many wounded soldiers he had seen. In fact, even now, the suppressed groans were still reaching his ears.
"Huh? Didn't you hear me?" Seeing that Phil remained silent, Saski raised his voice, and the look in his single eye became even colder.
“The enemy’s defenses are much stronger, sir…” Phili had barely begun to speak when Saski interrupted him with a cold shout:
"In just a few hours, the death toll has reached nearly 40,000!"
"And that doesn't even include Halson's troops! Do you know what that means?"
Upon hearing this number, Phil was shocked. He truly hadn't expected that this positional battle, which lasted only half a day, would result in so many casualties on his side. With all the casualties added together, at least two divisions had been wiped out.
Thinking of this, Phil took a deep breath and said in a low voice:
"Sir, we underestimated the enemy's strength. Pariston is defended like an impregnable fortress. We..."
Just as he finished speaking, Saskia suddenly stood up and kicked Phil in the leg.
Caught off guard, Phil was kicked to the ground. Lying there, he looked at Saski with surprise. Saski's face was full of anger. He pointed at Phil and scolded:
"You bastard! Look what you've done!!"
Phil's heart skipped a beat, realizing what Saski was referring to, but he still said, "Sir, I... did I do something wrong?"
Saski, enraged, laughed and shouted:
"What is it? You really don't know?!"
Phil's expression changed, and he hurriedly looked at the others, only to see that the other officers had all lowered their heads and were avoiding eye contact.
"Why didn't you carry out my orders and continue the attack on the Yan people?! You bastard! You know that the Yan people are under attack from multiple sides and need a large number of troops to defend them, but you refuse to contribute. You completely disregard my orders and think I don't know about your passive resistance?!"
"Because of your passive resistance, the Yan people were able to concentrate on frontal defense, which caused our attacks to be repeatedly thwarted, further leading to this casualty situation!"
At this point, a furious Saskia rushed up to Phil, grabbed him by the collar, and yelled:
"Look what you've done, you bastard!!"
Phil's face turned completely white in an instant, but he dared not utter a single word in his defense. He knew that trying to defend himself in front of the enraged Saski would only result in a more severe punishment.
"I'm sorry, sir..." Finally, pale-faced Phil lowered his head and said this weakly.
Saski stared intently at Phil, his gaze already carrying a murderous intent, but in the end, he merely shoved Phil aside, slowly straightened his back, and looked down at Phil, saying:
"You'd better have already figured out how to make up for your mistake!"
“Yes, sir,” Phil replied in a muffled voice.
At this moment, Leo, who was standing to the side, spoke up: "Sir, let's discuss tonight's operation. After this battle, the Yan people are fully prepared and may have already sent people to the rear to request assistance."
Upon hearing this, Saskia's brows immediately furrowed:
"Damn it, you think I don't know?"
“If Halson had been able to cut off the road, this wouldn’t have happened…” At this point, Saski couldn’t help but look at Phil, who had just stood up from the ground.
Beside Phil, an officer was whispering to him that Halson and his cavalry unit had completely lost contact, which made Phil's face grow increasingly grim.
"Can't you speak louder?" Saski shouted at him.
The officer immediately fell silent, while Saski followed up in a cold voice, saying, "The road connecting Enzos to Pariston must be cut off. Otherwise, our frontal assault will face countless obstacles."
At this point, Saski's gloomy gaze swept across the faces of the surrounding officers, finally settling on Phil's face.
Upon seeing the look that Saskia was giving him, Phil knew that he was about to assign him an incredibly difficult task.
