1960s: I'm the Villainous Sister-in-law

Huang Qinquian, as her name implies, was expected by her parents to grow up diligent, becoming a hardworking person.

But reality often differs from expectations. Among Huang's family'...

Chapter 17 Looking at Each Other

In the end, Zhang Jiang told Xu Junhui Huang Qinqin's name, but also told him that they didn't know if Huang Qinqin was a worker or where she lived.

Because losing a large amount of money and banknotes constitutes a serious work error, the factory would not allow more people to know about it. Therefore, it was impossible for Huang Qinqin to receive any rewards or similar honors.

Although it's indeed unfair to Huang Qinqin, there's nothing we can do. We have to prioritize the bigger picture.

......

Days passed by, and after trying for more than half a month, I still couldn't find a job.

Moreover, the street committee even came to their door to ask if the selection of people to go to the countryside had been confirmed. They said that Huang Qinqin was the only one in their family who had not found a job, and since none of their children were going to the countryside, they should bring their household registration information to register as soon as possible.

Although Chen Zhaodi managed to stall and delay the matter that time, it still needed to be resolved eventually.

Unable to find a job or even buy one, Chen Zhaodi decided to have Huang Qinqin go on a blind date as soon as possible. After all, it's impossible to find someone you like on the first try.

Tomorrow is Huang Qinqin's first date. After dinner, her family gathered around her to offer advice.

"I think white shirts look good; they make the girl look clean and energetic!"

"No, no, my daughter already looks young. She's eighteen but looks like she's fifteen. Wearing a white shirt will make her look even younger."

"Wearing that Dacron dress, you'll look so beautiful and elegant, you'll be absolutely stunning."

"No, that polyester skirt is too short, it shows her calves. It's not safe for my little sister to go to the park alone with that guy tomorrow, it's not safe."

Listening to her family members discussing the matter, Huang Qinqin became even more confused, feeling that one person's statement was correct and another's made sense.

They only had a few clothes to choose from, but they had been 'discussing' them here for over an hour.

Seeing that the discussion might not yield any results by tomorrow, Huang Qinqin quickly called for a halt: "Why don't you just wear your usual clothes? My clothes don't have any patches, so it's not embarrassing to wear them out."

"No!" Huang Qinqin had barely finished speaking when all four of them shouted in unison, "No!"

"So what do you guys suggest we wear... I'm so sleepy, and you still haven't come to a decision." Huang Qinqin pouted, looking unhappy.

Sensing her daughter's displeasure, Chen Zhaodi finally made the final decision: "She should wear this white shirt. Most people wear white shirts when they meet for the first time. Our Qinqin is so pretty, she can wear anything."

That way, we won't seem too eager. It's a proper, conventional approach, isn't it?

Huang Ermin still felt that the white shirt made him look too young. He opened his mouth to speak, but Chen Zhaodi pinched the soft flesh on his waist when she glanced at him from the side, and he immediately shut up.

Huang Qinqin actually felt that either outfit was fine, and since Chen Zhaodi had decided for her, she was too lazy to think about it anymore. After kicking her parents and two older brothers out, she was going to get ready for bed.

The next day was Sunday, and Chen Zhaodi and the others didn't have to go to work. Huang Ermin and the others originally wanted to take Huang Qinqin out as well.

Chen Zhaodi sent them all back; it was improper for several grown men to go and arrange a marriage. In the end, Chen Zhaodi and Huang Qinqin went alone.

As I walked over, I told her, "Honey, don't be nervous..."

"I'm not nervous."

"Oh dear, don't interrupt!" Chen Zhaodi was actually very anxious. She was afraid that if the matchmaking didn't go well, her daughter would have to go to the countryside, and she was also afraid that if the matchmaking did go well, her daughter would have to get married.

If she didn't have no one to sell her job, she would have sold everything she owned to buy one for her daughter.

She only has one daughter, and she doesn't want her to get married so soon. Besides, this is the first of her three children to go on a blind date, so how could she not be nervous?

"Just remember, this is just a casual meeting. If you feel something's not right, leave immediately. Don't force yourself if you don't like it. We can keep looking."

"However, on the other hand, this man is quite well-off. He works in a food factory, his father is a cadre of the Revolutionary Committee, and he has only one son and one daughter in his family."

It's said there are no other elderly people in the family, and the financial burden isn't heavy. If the person's character is good, then they're a decent candidate.

As they talked, they arrived at the park. Originally, Chen Zhaodi wanted to hold the matchmaking at a state-run restaurant, and she didn't want the man to pay; she would pay for everything herself.

The matchmaker said the man felt the state-run restaurant was too crowded and difficult to talk to. So, they finally decided to meet at a park.

When the matchmaker saw Chen Zhaodi and the others arrive, she quickly waved and gestured, "Zhaodi, Zhaodi, over here, come over here."

Hearing the matchmaker calling for people, Xu Jingui looked up and stared ahead. When Huang Qinqin approached, his eyes lit up and a satisfied expression appeared on his face.

He then kept looking Huang Qinqin up and down with his eyes.

Although they haven't officially met yet, Huang Qinqin has already given Xu Jingui a big thumbs up in her heart.

Xu Jingui looked at her as if she were merchandise, his eyes conveying a haughty attitude that said, "I'm very satisfied; you barely meet my standards."

She disliked him from the bottom of her heart. Putting aside other conditions, his attitude alone made Huang Qinqin feel that he was not a good match.

However, the matchmaking process must continue; after all, you can't afford to offend the matchmaker. For example, even if this match doesn't work out, she'll still need the matchmaker to introduce her to the next one.

The matchmaker warmly introduced them to each other, and then said to Chen Zhaodi, "Zhaodi, let's go back first and leave some space for the young people, Jin Gui and Qin Qin, you two have a good chat."
