In 2023, swimmer Jiang Jiaojiao died saving a drowning child during a seaside team-building activity.
In 1964, Lin Baoni saved a drowning soldier but died from exhaustion in the sea.
Ji...
Gu Ze got off work early today, and as soon as he entered the door, he heard laughter.
"What's wrong? Why are you so happy?"
"You're back! Oh no, I forgot to cook!" Aunt Gu was so busy gossiping with Bao Ni that she was overjoyed to hear that Xu Fang had been scratched!
"Oh? Sister-in-law, let my brother cook for you. I have to go home for dinner. Gu Ye will be worried soon."
Bonnie was so busy sharing gossip with her sister-in-law that she forgot her sister-in-law hadn't cooked yet.
"Oh, you're showing off like that. A family of four, three of whom can cook, right?" Sister-in-law Gu said sourly!
"Sister-in-law, you see through it but don't say anything, haha..."
Bonnie left with a smile, leaving Brother Gu and his wife staring at each other in bewilderment.
"Come help me cook. Honestly, there are several of you, but you can't even compare to Sanqi, who's just a little kid."
Brother Gu felt he had suffered an undeserved misfortune; he had lived for forty years and was still being disliked.
"What did Bonnie come to you about? Didn't she go to work?" Brother Gu quickly changed the subject.
"Ah, haha..." Sister-in-law Gu couldn't help but laugh whenever she thought about it.
“When Bonnie got home from get off work, she saw Xu Fang and Gu Mei fighting with someone who was talking about them. Their faces were scratched. She was so eager to share this with me that she didn’t go home but came to our house instead.”
Gu Ze thought that these two sisters-in-law had an unusually wicked sense of humor, which was quite nice.
"Gu Mei is back, back to the city?" Gu Ze hadn't really noticed; the Gu Xiangdong family was fighting like dogs.
"It seems so, Bonnie said so. I hadn't asked about it yet when you came back. I'll ask you tomorrow."
As Brother Gu and his wife cooked, they chatted idly, and Bao Ni came downstairs.
Where are you going?
“I came looking for you, but Liu Jiu said he didn’t see you. I was wondering what you were up to.”
Gu Ye finished cooking, and both children returned, but his wife was still nowhere to be seen.
"I'm going to my sister-in-law's house. Come on, I'll tell you when we get home."
Gu Ye pulled Bao Ni upstairs. When the sister-in-law on the first floor opened the door and saw the two holding hands, she was quite envious.
"Serves you right. Cutting flesh with a dull knife, the real pain is yet to come."
After hearing what Bao Ni said, Gu Ye felt relieved and decided to let them torture each other like this.
"Mom, let's eat quickly, we're starving."
Like Bonnie, Liu Jiu is easily hungry and gets anxious when she's hungry.
"Why didn't you eat first?" Bonnie asked after washing her hands and sitting down.
"If you don't come back, will my dad let us eat?" Sanqi said the truth in a serious tone.
"Eat up, you talk too much."
Gu Ye thought his son was too cheeky.
The family of four ate quickly, they were all so hungry that they didn't even have time to talk.
After dinner, Liu Jiu and San Qi cleared away the dishes. Bao Ni was tired today, so Gu Ye massaged her shoulders.
"You're stretching yourself too much. You haven't exercised in a long time, your muscles will be sore for a few days." Gu Ye massaged Bao Ni's shoulders and arms.
"Mom, are you going to work at the school from now on?"
Liu Jiu only found out that her mother had gone to work at their school library.
"Yes, then we can have lunch together."
"No, I want to eat it myself."
Sanqi didn't like adults watching him or patting his head.
"Okay, you can eat by yourselves or we can eat together. In short, I don't need to cook or worry about what to eat."
Bonnie didn't care; she didn't necessarily have to be with the children, as they had their own social circles.
"Mom, what books are you in charge of?" Liu Jiu had never been to the school library before; her previous school didn't have one.
"I'm in charge of the junior high school students. I'll sort them out tomorrow. I'm cleaning up today."
"Mom, you've worked so hard!"
"Dad, you've worked hard too!"
The two children said some very heartwarming things.
After tidying up, Liu Jiu and San Qi went out to play. They had finished their homework, and Bonnie didn't bother with them.
The next day, Bonnie went to school on time and went to the library.
The curator has arrived, and so has Teacher Ma.
"Good morning!"
After saying hello, Bonnie came in and went into her classroom.
Bonnie took out a large notebook and began registering the books.
The textbooks were put together, then separated by grade, and then by subject, with records kept as they were being sorted.
This is a huge project, involving several hundred books.
Bonnie didn't leave the house all morning, so she had no idea how their work was going.
"Bonnie, it's lunchtime, let's go eat."
Teacher Ma came to call Bao Ni. She noticed that Bao Ni had divided the books into very small categories and even made labels to stick on the shelves.
"Oh, Bonnie, you're so meticulous! This makes finding books so much easier. What's this now?"
Teacher Ma picked up Bonnie's large notebook and saw that the book titles were neatly written on it, followed by the number of books.
"This is good; it makes book management easier and prevents mismatches."
The librarian, passing by, was drawn over by Teacher Ma's voice. Looking at the neatly arranged bookshelves, labels, and registers that Lin Baoni had made, he couldn't help but approve. This Lin Baoni is diligent and meticulous in her work.
Teacher Liang thought it was good, but Sister Lan felt upset after reading it.
Lan's wife and Bao Ni joined the company at the same time. Both were military wives, so there was a bit of competition between them, although it was only from Lan's perspective.
But from yesterday until now, Lin Baoni has been stealing the spotlight, making him pale in comparison.
Bonnie put down her work and went to eat with Teacher Ma and the others.
Even if Sister Lan didn't want to, she couldn't say it out loud, otherwise she would be all alone. She could tell her later.
"Bonnie, has your child started school yet?"
Teacher Ma's children are either working or in high school.
