In her past life, Ye Linchen lived like a joke. She was abandoned in the countryside for eighteen years and discovered upon returning home that her parents' love was given to her cousin, Meng Z...

Chapter 335 Are there two groups spreading rumors?

The person in charge became anxious upon hearing Lin Xuemei's accusations.

He shouted, "How could it be me? I've only just heard this rumor today! How could I possibly be the one spreading it? This is slander! It's defamation!"

Lin Xuemei curled her lip in disdain and said with a sneer, "Who knows? Nobody will admit it until they're caught red-handed! Who can say for sure about these things?"

The person in charge was so angry that his face turned red.

He pointed at Lin Xuemei and questioned her sternly.

"What evidence do you have? What makes you think I'm fabricating this rumor? Show me the evidence, or else..."

Seeing his exasperated expression, Ye Linchen interrupted him with a smile.

She calmly advised, "Classmate, you need to pay attention to your approach! Stay calm, don't get angry or anxious, don't get agitated, and communicate with people in a friendly manner."

The person in charge was speechless, then glared angrily at Ye Linchen before blurting out, "I...I'm doing this for your own good! If you don't appreciate it, fine!"

After saying that, he turned around angrily and left without looking back.

Ye Linchen turned to the boy in red: "Are you willing to talk now?"

The boy in red blushed crimson and said stiffly, "You...don't you already know what I said? Why are you asking me?"

Ye Linchen said calmly, "Of course I know what you said, but I'm more interested in knowing where you heard these rumors from and who told them to you."

"Is it... just that simple?" the boy in red asked.

Ye Linchen nodded: "It's that simple."

"I...I overheard it at the book club too," the boy in red stammered. "It was...it was at the book club event the day before yesterday. A girl told me about it..."

As he was talking, he seemed to remember something, and suddenly raised his head, his eyes quickly scanning the classroom.

"That girl was just here!"

He pointed to a girl who was almost at the classroom door and shouted, "It's...it's her! She told me!"

The girl pointed at by the boy in red paused in her tracks, disregarding any sense of pride, and ran away.

Ye Linchen naturally wouldn't let her get away.

She immediately took off running and chased after the girl.

Ye Linchen regularly goes for morning runs, which has given him good endurance and explosive power, and he is very fast.

The girl was wearing a long woolen skirt, which made her feel restricted when running.

She glanced back at Ye Linchen, who was getting closer and closer, and simply grabbed her skirt and ran.

Just as she was about to rush out of the activity room and reach the stairwell, Ye Linchen dashed forward and blocked her path.

"Excuse me, student, please wait a moment."

When Ye Linchen stopped the girl, she knew she couldn't escape, so she simply stopped walking as well.

She looked up at Ye Linchen, a helpless expression on her face.

However, she was much calmer than the boy in red who had been there before.

Perhaps knowing she was in the wrong, she sighed, her attitude very sincere.

“I know what you want to ask. It was indeed wrong of me to talk badly about you behind your back, but I really didn’t know you before, and I didn’t know those rumors were false. I just spoke off the cuff and was just joking. I didn’t mean any harm.”

As she spoke, she bent down towards Ye Linchen.

"I'm willing to apologize to you. I'm sorry."

“I accept your apology.” Ye Linchen nodded and continued, “I hope you will stop spreading these unfounded rumors in the future, as they are very damaging to a person’s reputation.”

"If everyone spreads rumors irresponsibly like this, I'll be the one who gets hurt today, but it could be you tomorrow."

The girl didn't argue, but kept saying, "I'm sorry, I'm sorry, I know it was my fault, I will be more careful in the future."

Ye Linchen raised his hand to interrupt her: "I have another question. Where did you hear these rumors from?"

The girl hesitated for a moment before finally saying, "I heard it from my classmate. She heard it from the people in front of her while she was getting food in the cafeteria. Anyway, everyone was saying it, so I believed it."

"So, there's no definite source?"

"It's true, I'm not lying to you."

After the girl finished speaking, she gave Ye Linchen an idea.

“I think the rumors have already spread throughout the school, so there’s not much point in you trying to find out more. After all, there are just too many people who have heard or said these rumors, and you simply can’t keep track of them all.”

"Why don't you investigate who printed those flyers and who distributed them at the school? Once you find the source, the truth will come out."

Ye Linchen was completely confused and asked, "How do you investigate? What do you investigate?"

Seeing Ye Linchen's blank expression, the girl gestured for her to go to a corner of the corridor to explain.

After the two of them stopped, she lowered her voice and said, "I have a roommate who saw the door of the printing room open when she passed by the school printing room a few nights ago, even though it was past the normal closing time."

"She found it strange and peeked inside, only to find that someone was secretly printing flyers about you."

Upon hearing this, Ye Linchen frowned slightly: "You mean, people at the school are printing flyers?"

The girl nodded and said with certainty, "I'm not sure if the initial color flyers were printed by the school. But the black and white flyers that have appeared recently are most likely printed in the school's printing room."

Ye Linchen was startled.

I never expected there would even be colored flyers. The person who wanted to harm her this time really went to great lengths and spent a lot of money!
