Chapter 354 He Must Marry Me

The car was dimly lit. Gu Yifei sat in the back seat, his head tilted to one side, fast asleep. The smell of alcohol emanating from him was enough to give anyone a headache.

Gu Jingran drove the car calmly, watching the street scene rushing past the window, occasionally exchanging a few words with Ye Linchen beside him, his emotions completely unaffected.

Upon arriving at the police station, Gu Jingran helped Gu Yifei along with the police officers, passing through a short corridor to the duty room.

As soon as Gu Yifei sat down in the chair, he leaned back and fell asleep again.

A policeman went up and patted Gu Yifei's face: "Hey, wake up, I have something to ask you."

Gu Yifei mumbled something indistinctly, without even opening his eyes.

The police couldn't do anything about him, so they could only question the others first.

Gu Yifei didn't have much time to calm down. Soon after, his stomach started churning, and he began to vomit.

The police officer was startled and immediately ordered, "Oh no, he's about to vomit! Quick, two people, come and help him to the toilet!"

He was just a little slow, and as soon as he reached the door, he couldn't hold it in any longer and vomited violently.

Even after being cleaned, the interrogation room still reeked of a sour, rotten smell.

After vomiting, Gu Yifei could barely stand, his eyelids drooped, and he fell asleep again.

The police officer looked at him and could only shake his head helplessly.

"Let's talk about it when he's sober."

He arranged for the remaining people to be taken into different rooms and to give their statements separately.

The restaurant waiter's testimony was very brief.

He saw Meng Zihan and Gu Yifei arrive at the restaurant together. The two were chatting and laughing when they came in, and seemed to have a good relationship. When they came out of the private room, Gu Yifei was drunk and was being helped out of the restaurant by Meng Zihan.

As for what happened afterward, he had no idea.

When it was Gu Jingran and Ye Linchen's turn, they recounted the whole story in detail, including why they happened to be at the restaurant entrance. Their logic was clear and their explanations were well-organized.

However, their accounts do not match Meng Zihan's at all, and the key details are completely different.

The situation suddenly came to a standstill.

The only breakthrough was Gu Yifei, who was drunk and unconscious.

During the wait, Gu Jingran glanced at Ye Linchen beside him and said to her, "You should go back first. I'll stay here to cooperate with the investigation. You have class tomorrow."

Looking at Gu Jingran's composed profile, Ye Linchen felt that with him here to hold things together, things wouldn't be too bad.

Besides, this is ultimately a private matter for the Gu family, and it is most appropriate for him to handle it.

She nodded and didn't insist any further. With the police's permission, Gu Jingran's driver took her home.

After Ye Linchen left, Gu Jingran was the only one left in the police station corridor.

He walked to the window, took out his mobile phone from his pocket, and dialed Gu Yifei's house.

On the other end of the phone, Gu Yifei's parents were already anxious because their son hadn't come home all night. When they heard the words "police station," their hearts clenched.

They arrived much faster than expected. Gu's mother's hair was a little disheveled, and she was wearing a casual coat, clearly having received the news and rushed over.

She immediately spotted Meng Zihan huddled on a corner bench, tears still on her face, and then saw her beloved son lying unconscious on the other side. Her eyes instantly reddened.

Thinking back to what Gu Jingran had said to him, there was nothing she didn't understand.

Her own son was harmed by this poisonous snake!

She rushed over and raised her hand to slap Meng Zihan across the face.

"You troublemaker! You ill-intentioned wretch! Why won't you let Xiaofei go? What has our Gu family ever done to you that you would do this to my son!"

Factory Director Gu and Gu Jingran reacted quickly, each grabbing one of her arms to prevent her from actually hitting her.

Factory Director Gu, with a stern face, whispered to stop her, "Calm down, don't lose your composure, go check on Xiaofei first."

Meng Zihan flinched, and said in a tearful voice, "It wasn't me who was bothering him, it was him... he was the one who wanted to bully me!"

Factory Director Gu ignored Meng Zihan's words and asked his mother to check on Gu Yifei's condition. He then turned around and turned his gaze to Gu Jingran.

"Jingran, tell me the details of the situation."

The two walked to the side, and Gu Jingran recounted what he knew, the lawyer's initial assessment, and the current situation.

"Xiao Fei is probably going to suffer a bit this time."

After a long silence, Director Gu finally managed to squeeze out a sentence: "It's good for him to suffer a little, so that he won't misjudge people in the future. Just do as you say."

It wasn't until late at night that Gu Yifei, with a splitting headache, finally woke up on a hard bench.

He opened his eyes, and the glaring incandescent light made it take him several seconds to see his surroundings clearly.

This is the police station.

His parents' haggard faces were right in front of him, and a uniformed policeman was standing next to them.

His muddled mind cleared instantly.

"How...how did I get here?" he asked in a hoarse voice.

Before his parents could even speak, the police officer, holding a notebook, formally recounted the situation. When Gu Yifei heard, "Comrade Meng Zihan has accused you of molestation," he froze.

He looked up, his eyes bloodshot, and repeated incredulously, "Impossible!"

"How could I possibly molest her?"

"Then think back, what did you do after you left the restaurant?"

Gu Yifei rubbed his throbbing forehead, trying hard to recall, "My last memory is at the dinner table, where Meng Zihan kept urging me to drink. After that... I have no recollection of anything after that!"

"Then why did you drink so much?" the police officer pressed.
