Chapter 11 Chapter 11 "Heinrich Spencer." ...

"I'm glad Andrew got you here safely. Welcome to Chalvey, Miss Norman." Violet's tone softened, her expression still tense. "I like your politeness, but... if, I mean, if you could rest for a while before appearing at the banquet, it might be easier."

In front of the guests, the old lady expressed her doubts in a tactful and caring way. Of course, Isabel could hear it.

But she didn't understand the situation now, and she didn't know Violet's position and personality, so she couldn't directly report Andrew.

After a few seconds of thought, Isabel nodded and said, "Rest is important, but anyone who comes to the Heart of Ceylon will find it hard to resist the urge to explore. The statue of Margaret is truly magnificent, Lady Violet."

She not only complimented Chalves, but also pointed out the "Margaret Statue" to express that she had indeed visited it in person.

Violet's lips curled up, but she quickly suppressed it, then tried her best to lower it, putting on a stern attitude. "If that's the reason, then I can reluctantly understand."

"She's a sincere girl." The kind-hearted lady smiled. "Even regular visitors to Chalveys are always intoxicated by the beautiful scenery here."

"Yeah, I think so."

Several noble ladies took over the conversation and complimented her, and Violet could no longer suppress the smile on her face.

"Come here, Audrey," Violet beckoned.

Isabel: "Yes, Lady Violet."

"From now on, you can call me Grandma." Violet stood up and led her towards the ladies. "Let me introduce you to my cousin Vincent, Lady Cynthia, and..."

Isabel greeted the ladies one by one and quickly completed the task of making the newlyweds' appearance at the banquet.

Finally, Violet called the woman in the red dress beside her, "This is Louisa, Heinrich's second-born brother, Edmund's wife, and your sister-in-law. You will all be family in the future, and you need to understand each other. By the way..."

She paused and glanced at Isabel. "You have to learn how to manage the family business as soon as possible. Now Louisa will take over everything temporarily. When you are capable, it will be returned to you. Do you understand, Audrey?"

Isabel: "I understand."

The moment she nodded, a cold light flashed in Louisa’s eyes, but she quickly concealed it and said with a smile: “I will do my best to help Miss Norman.”

"Just call me by my name." Isabel smiled and looked directly at her. "Luisa."

"Oh! I forgot to introduce you to the most important one." Violet raised her eyebrows, and several ladies laughed at the same time.

"Miss Norman has just arrived at Chalvey. I suppose you haven't met your future husband, the Duke of Spencer yet?"

Isabel smiled: "Yes, I haven't seen it yet."

"The men went hunting and will be back soon."

As they spoke, everyone stood up and looked down.

The banquet area is arranged on a long and gentle slope with an excellent view of endless grasslands and forests.

At the foot of the hill, several men were riding back on horseback with their prey in tow. They recognized their wives and waved towards them.

"Hey! Honey!"

"Oh, it's Vincent, he's back?" the man's wife came forward.

As the sun was about to set, people kept coming back. They chatted and laughed together, and waited for the large group that had not yet returned.

For a moment, the sound of horse hooves was endless.

Isabel didn't talk much. When guests came to say hello, Violet would introduce them to her, and she would silently memorize all their identities.

As the sun began to fade, Louisa waved, "Hi! I'm here! Edmund!"

"Grandma, Edmund is back!" she turned and told Violet.

"Yes, I'm not old and blind yet." Violet frowned. "Oh! Even Edmund is back. I hope Heinrich hasn't been eaten by a wolf or broken his leg? Unless he hunted a bear, I can't think of any reason why he wouldn't be back at this time."

"That's a possibility, Grandma! I haven't seen my brother all day. I want to see how he can beat me!" Edmund led his horse closer and showed off his prey excitedly: "Look, Louisa, I caught three red grouse and a hare!"

"Congratulations on the great harvest, dear." Louisa kissed Edmund. "I would like to introduce you to our new member, Miss Norman, our future sister-in-law."

Edmund then looked at Isabel, pausing for a moment before nodding and greeting. "Nice to meet you. Greetings. Just call me Edmund, Miss Norman."

"Hello, Edmund." Isabel smiled.

Edmund was tall but thin. His hair and eyes were black, making his skin look particularly pale. He perfectly matched the current standards of handsomeness for young girls. Add a touch of humor to his appearance, and it would have perfectly explained the love in Louisa's eyes.

Isabel examined it inconspicuously and looked away—but it didn't suit her aesthetic.

Edmund seemed extremely confident in his own charm. He winked playfully and handed a hare to Isabel. "Louisa, please don't mind if I give this hare to Miss Norman as a gift for meeting you for the first time."

"After all..." He paused, then smiled confidently, "I broke Heinrich's winning streak today. He might be too embarrassed to face his beautiful fiancée, Ms. Norman."

Louisa was silent for a moment, then smiled: "Of course."

Violet: "Edmund, don't make big promises before the results are determined."

"Yes, Cousin Edmund, Hein is the champion of the annual hunting feast." Mr. Vincent joked beside him, "What if he catches a red deer this time?"

Edmund's eyes darkened, and he quickly laughed: "Really? Then I wish him good luck! The red deer hasn't appeared in three years..."

Before he finished speaking, the barking of hunting dogs suddenly came from the distance.

Everyone looked up, and the ladies in full skirts occupied the front field of vision.

There was a moment of silence, followed by a series of exclamations.

"The main force is back! Oh my God! Come and look! They're racing horses?!"

"It's my father, and the Duke is here too! He's the one in the front!"

"My brother is here too!"

"That's so cool! Turns out they were last in line to play horse racing!"

"Let me see! It's really interesting!"

Isabel, who had just put down the hare, only had time to see the scene below the hillside through the gap.

The large group returning from hunting spontaneously started horse racing.

At the front, hunting dogs swiftly cleared the way, their barking incessantly. Behind them came a long line of horsemen, countless steeds kicking up dust and rumbling forward with the momentum of a mighty army.

The horse in front was pure black, wearing a full set of silver harness, and was carrying its owner away.

The sun sets in the west, and the setting sun is like blood.

The strong wind made his linen-white wide-sleeved shirt flutter in the wind, and the thin red light outlined his galloping posture on horseback, making him as invincible as the knights in medieval oil paintings.

"Heinrich! First!"

I don’t know who shouted first, but the crowd suddenly responded spontaneously, and the cheers were like thunderous roars.

"Heinrich! First!

"Heinrich! First!"

The Ceylonese nobles, known for their steadiness and restraint, were unleashed by the scene before them. Disregarding etiquette and decorum, they roared with fervor, as if transported back to the scene of a medieval battle, themselves warriors on the battlefield.

"Heinrich! Heinrich!"

Old Lady Violet almost shouted along, but the rules etched in her bones made her restrain herself. Turning around and seeing Isabel's focused admiration, she couldn't help but smile proudly and complained modestly, "Oh! Audrey, I told Hein not to always take first place. It's embarrassing. But the men in the Spencer family are always competitive. Alas, there's nothing I can do."

Isabel smiled. "Yes, it's obvious. You can't do anything about it."

Violet smiled with satisfaction and looked back at the arena.

As the sun sets, with the help of a ray of afterglow, everyone can see that the victory in the field is already decided, and the dark horse is far ahead of the second place.

However, while galloping at high speed, the man on horseback suddenly let go of the reins with both hands, squeezed the horse's belly, and turned around in a circle. The audience smiled knowingly, thinking that he was deliberately waiting for the people behind him.

The next moment, the man quickly drew his bow and arrow, aiming at the sky. With a whoosh, the sharp arrow flew through the air, and a grey goose fell and landed right on the hillside.

"Oh my goodness! I shot a grey goose!"

Nowadays, nobles mostly use hunting rifles for hunting, but he used the simplest bow and arrow to shoot the moving geese while riding a moving horse. It was undoubtedly a brilliant show of skill!

After a brief silence, enthusiastic cheers were ignited again.

"Heinrich! First!"

"Heinrich! First!"

After hitting the prey, the black horse galloped again with great momentum.

The crowd on the hillside made way for it, and in the blink of an eye, the black horse rushed over. Under the control of its owner, it avoided the crowd and circled around before slowing down. Cheers rang out.

"Ah! First place!! I win!"

“We won!”

“Excellent!”

"Duke! Duke! Duke!"

The crowd surrounded the victorious man.

He did not dismount, but just held the reins and paced slowly, responding to congratulations from time to time, with an arrogant and imposing demeanor.

Isabel was standing not far away and only then could she see his face clearly.

The black medium-length hair was blown back by the wind, and the ends were fluffy and slightly curled, a bit like a modern wolf's tail, which matched the man's fierce aura.

He was talking to someone when a strand of hair happened to fall down. He casually pushed it back, revealing his clear facial features - his face was narrow and his features were three-dimensional, every part was harmonious and coordinated. His black eyes, similar to Edmund's, showed a completely different depth on this face.

Fortunately, his slender and strong figure, as well as his aura and strength that keep strangers away, make people ignore his incredible handsomeness.

As if he noticed being watched, he suddenly turned his head and looked straight at Isabel in the crowd.

Meeting those black eyes, Isabel did not dodge, and even nodded slightly.

The tall and mighty champion horse brushed past the crowd and slowly approached. Unsure of its whereabouts, the crowd watched it advance until it stopped in front of the girl in the blue dress.

His shirt was sloppily opened, revealing his collarbone. He looked down upon the lady. This noble gentleman seemed to have no sense of gentlemanly etiquette and was quite self-centered.

He looked at Isabel with a disdainful look and slowly introduced himself: "Heinrich Spencer."
