Yang Qingheng was deceived of her money and affection by a scumbag man in her past life, ending in a miserable fate. Upon rebirth, she kicked the scumbag to the curb, grabbed her money, and顺便 doted...
She never imagined that one day, with the mental age of almost forty, she would be unable to walk past a pork stall.
Yang Qingheng was suffering. It wasn't that she was greedy, but her body couldn't stand the craving. She had only eaten white rice porridge all day yesterday, and this morning she ate sweet potatoes. Her stomach was completely empty.
She felt like she could eat a whole cow right now.
There are plenty of people who can't afford pork these days. The man could see her predicament and helplessly pointed: "I'll sell you this lean piece for six cents a pound. You can take it home and have a treat."
Yang Qingheng hesitated for a few seconds, then gritted her teeth and said, "I'll buy it."
The man found it amusing to see her face contorted like a bitter gourd, looking so pained. He lifted the scale and announced loudly, "It's about a pound and an ounce. I'll give you a pound. Here you go."
"Thank you," Yang Qingheng said, taking out six cents with a slight smile. She noticed a large intestine in the bucket on the ground and her eyes flickered. "Uncle, this large intestine must smell strong here. Why don't you give me a discount and I'll take it with me?"
"Hey, you woman, you're addicted to taking advantage of others," the man laughed angrily, waving his hand with a look of disdain on his face, "One cent, take it, take it."
Yang Qingheng is right. This large intestine has indeed been stinking for him all morning. If she could take it away, he wouldn't mind selling it for a lower price.
"Uncle, you're so generous. You're sure to make a fortune in the future." Yang Qingheng, having gotten a good deal, kept spouting flattering words, making him blush and keep saying how great it was.
Taking advantage of the stall owner's good mood, Yang Qingheng inquired about the rules of the black market.
Finally, he picked up a few lotus leaves from the stall, carefully wrapped the pig intestines and pork separately, put them into his crossbody bag, and then walked out of the black market while browsing around.
Thirty catties of rice, plus a bag of pork and a bag of cloth—that was no small amount of weight. Yang Qingheng was panting heavily after only a few steps, yet even then, some clueless people still tried to approach her.
Yang Qingheng was carrying a bag of rice, swaying slightly as she freed one hand to wipe her sweat. Just as she put her hand down, she noticed a strong man suddenly standing in front of her.
The man wasn't looking ahead; instead, he was staring intently at the opposite side of the road. Just as they were about to collide, Yang Qingheng was startled and cried out in alarm, "Watch out ahead!"
While struggling to turn sideways with a heavy load on his shoulders, the man strode right into him.
The world spun around her, and she was thrown off balance. Yang Qingheng landed on her bottom, the pain making her see stars, and she almost fainted.
The man in front of her seemed to only then realize that he had bumped into her, and hurriedly tried to help her up.
Yang Qingheng looked at the rice scattered all over the ground, her heart bleeding. She slapped his hand away and said angrily, "Others may be blind or deaf, but you are both blind and deaf! It's one thing to not watch where you're going, but didn't you hear me shouting so loudly?"
Tang Bainian paused for a second, then silently withdrew his hand, his eyes still closely watching the person opposite him.
Yang Qingheng deftly gathered up the rice from the ground, wrapped the muddy rice in a clean cloth, and after a long while, not hearing a man's voice from above, she stood up strangely.
"Hey, can you hear me? Are you mute?"
The woman's face suddenly loomed close, and Tang Bainian's breath caught in his throat, his mind went blank, and his mouth suddenly stopped moving.
Is he... really mute?
Yang Qingheng's heart skipped a beat. Thinking of her harsh criticism just now, she wished she could slap herself twice.
I told you not to be so quick-tongued!
With an embarrassed expression, he waved his hand helplessly: "Forget it, forget it, I guess I'm just unlucky. You don't need to pay me back."
Remembering that the man couldn't hear her, she awkwardly shut her mouth and slunk away.
…………
Tang Bainian discovered for the first time that a person could change countless expressions in a few seconds, which was even more interesting than the prisoners in the interrogation room.
Recalling Yang Qingheng's awkward yet lively demeanor before leaving, I almost burst out laughing.
"What are you looking at so intently?"
A pair of large hands draped over his shoulders. Erniu curiously looked in the direction of his gaze, but the alley entrance was deserted, with not a single person in sight.
Tang Bainian shrugged, brushed his hand away, and said dismissively, "It's nothing. I just saw someone here, who looks a bit like the thief the police were looking for a few days ago."
"Where is he?" Erniu asked in surprise.
"Something went wrong, and he got away."
“Ugh,” Erniu said with disdain, “They call themselves police, but they can’t even catch a thief.”
Tang Bainian didn't stand on ceremony. He raised his chin at the two of them and led them toward a house deep in the alley: "You two have the nerve to say that? If you hadn't stood me up yesterday, I wouldn't have had to make this trip on the weekend."
Song Hengjue coughed lightly: "I'm really sorry, something came up at home. I'll treat you to dinner another day."
"That's more like it," Tang Bainian nodded in satisfaction, then casually asked, "What's the matter that's so urgent?"
Having spent so much time with Song Hengjue, he roughly understood his personality. He had never broken a promise before, so why did this time turn out to be problematic?
As if struck by a sudden thought, his expression changed: "Your research and development has run into problems?"
Song Hengjue's knuckles twitched slightly, and he was about to explain when Erniu burst out laughing.
"It is indeed research and development." Researching how to create a new life.
Tang Bainian didn't understand what he was saying, but Song Hengjue understood most of it. His eyebrows twitched, and he shouted, "Shut up!" His ears turned half red without him realizing it.
Seeing his agitated state, Tang Bainian was also surprised, and asked in a tense tone, "Is there really a problem with the research and development? Why didn't you say so earlier? Is there anything I can do to help?"
This is not a favor that can be easily done.
