"They're all here."

A soft, clear voice rang out.

Ye Yun's sudden entrance caused everyone in the office to freeze in shock. Gu Jin, who was about to explode with anger, turned around and stared at her in astonishment. Lao Gao also looked puzzled. Only Qin Zheng, who was sitting behind his desk, reflexively stood up.

"Wife, what brings you here?"

Of all the people who hadn't made a sound, he was the fastest to move at this moment.

He hurried over to Ye Yun, took the tea tray from her hands, afraid that if he was even a second late, Ye Yun would suffer greatly.

The tray of tea was quite heavy to carry, so Qin Zheng quickly put the tea tray on the table behind him and went to check Ye Yun's hands.

Ye Yun readily agreed.

It's just a plate of tea.

Qin Zheng was too nervous.

Seeing this scene, Cai Manni felt a pang of bitterness in her heart. She pursed her lips and turned her gaze to the window with displeasure.

Gu Jin sneered, "The main character is here, what are you still standing here for?"

Cai Manni immediately looked at him.

Knowing that Gu Jin was trying to provoke her, she wasn't angry; instead, she smiled generously.

"Look at what you're saying. I'm not here to ruin their relationship. I'm here to deliver invitations. We're friends after all. Do you think we can't even have this most basic interaction?"

Gu Jin rolled her eyes.

Whether you're here to ruin someone else's relationship or not, you know the answer in your heart.

"The invitations have been sent. Whether we go or not is our choice. You can leave now." Qin Zheng's voice rang out, his words carrying a firm and cold tone.

Cai Manni turned to look at him.

The man's expression remained as indifferent as ever, as if she were an unimportant stranger, while Ye Yun in front of him was enjoying his wholehearted care and affection. This scene pierced her heart deeply, leaving her feeling both bitter and astringent.

But she could only suppress it, stand up, clutch her handbag, and leave the office haughtily.

The office returned to calm.

Old Gao glanced at the wall clock, stood up and said, "Since you're here, let's call it a day. You can talk things over slowly."

Gu Jin also glanced at her watch.

"I've arranged to have dinner with Tang Shu, so I won't be joining you. I'm leaving." With that, he picked up his coat from the sofa and left with Old Gao.

The office was now truly quiet.

The office was a bit messy. Ye Yun glanced at the documents that Gu Jin had thrown to the ground, then slowly moved her gaze to meet Qin Zheng's eyes, revealing a puzzled expression.

Qin Zheng scratched his head.

Seemingly unsure how to explain to Ye Yun, he frowned, pondered for a few seconds, and hesitated as if trying to find the right words.

Finally, he let out a heavy sigh.

"What's troubling you so much?" Ye Yun gently smoothed his furrowed brows and couldn't help but chuckle.

Seeing her smile, Qin Zheng's tightly furrowed brows relaxed slightly.

Not wanting Ye Yun to worry about him, Qin Zheng put his arm around her and sat down on the sofa, saying, "It's nothing, I'm sorry to have made you worry. Why did you come?"

“You didn’t go home yesterday, and you weren’t available when I called you. I was worried something had happened to you, so I came to check on you.”

"You've worked so hard, honey." Qin Zheng held her hand, his voice tinged with apology. "I've been busy these past two days. I was called out for a meeting early this morning and just got back to the company. I was planning to go home tonight. I'm sorry, honey, I won't do it again next time."

Why apologize to her?

Ye Yun felt that this man was too good. He was busy with his career outside, so she should be the one to understand him. How could he apologize to her?

Whether in her past life or now, Qin Zheng's kindness towards her has remained constant.

"So what happened to you?" Ye Yun straightened the man's shirt collar and coaxed him gently, "Tell me about it. Even if I can't help you, it's good to have someone to talk to and share your burden."

This matter is most likely related to Cai Manni.

She realized that Qin Zheng was bound to run into trouble whenever Cai Manni appeared. That woman always claimed to be doing things for Qin Zheng's own good, but all she did was trip him up.

Seeing that Qin Zheng's tie was a bit messy, Ye Yun reached out and simply took it off for him.

It seems she needs to see Cai Manni, her husband, her man, when she has time. She feels sorry for him, how can she tolerate being tormented like this by someone else?

"It's not necessarily a bad thing."

Suddenly, Qin Zheng said.

Ye Yun paused in adjusting his tie, tilted her head, and looked at him with a puzzled expression. "What?"

"It's not exactly a bad thing." Qin Zheng repeated, paused for two seconds, and clicked his tongue, "It's just that the construction site we're currently working on, this project, has been requisitioned."

Ye Yun was dumbfounded. "What do you mean?"

"The good thing the nearby primary school did," Qin Zheng stood up, drew back the curtains, and pointed to the school behind the building. "Look, the principal here applied to the higher authorities to expand the school, to build a junior high school, and to solve the housing problem for the teachers. Our construction site just happens to be the closest to it, so it was requisitioned."

Ye Yun: "..."

Oh my god, what did she hear?

This was Qin Zheng and his team's first business venture in the provincial capital, and it was supposed to be a resounding success. But then... just as the building was about to be completed and ready for sale, the authorities jumped in to steal the credit.

That's simply... cruel.

No wonder Gu Jin was so angry. The prodigal son was finally about to make something of himself, and victory was in sight. But then everything was lost in an instant. Who could bear that?
