"Are we still getting a divorce?"
Her rough husband threatened her while gripping her waist. She had no choice but to beg for mercy, "No, we're not getting a divorce, we'r...
"You've come to see Lili?"
Li Xiuying looked delighted and walked out of the ward, reaching out to grab Qin Zheng's arm.
But she quickly realized her mistake and saw the aloofness on Qin Zheng's face. Her outstretched hand froze in mid-air, and she silently withdrew it, saying, "It's good that you're here, it's good that you're here."
The fact that he came shows that Qin Zheng still cares about Guo Lili, his younger sister.
Then she was relieved.
Qin Zheng remained silent. Li Xiuying, unfazed by the cold shoulder, beckoned them into the ward: "Come in quickly. Your sister asked where you were after she woke up. You miss her, and she misses you too."
She then went into the ward.
However, there were no footsteps following her. She couldn't help but turn her head and saw Qin Zheng and Ye Yun still standing motionless at the door of the ward.
She couldn't help but ask in surprise, "Zhengzi?"
Unable to figure out Qin Zheng's meaning, she dared not speak rashly and turned her gaze to Ye Yun beside her.
Ye Yun: "..."
Why are you looking at her?
She was just a powerless bystander.
"If it's nothing serious, then forget it. We're just here for a check-up. Contact us again when she's discharged."
Qin Zheng finally spoke.
After saying that, he put his arm around Ye Yun's shoulder and turned to walk outside.
Yes, yes, let's go home.
We've finished eating the melon; it would be impolite to stay any longer.
With Qin Zheng's arm around her shoulder, Ye Yun simply reached out and wrapped her arm around the man's slender waist.
Unfortunately, the man's waist was too strong; she couldn't wrap her small arm around it at all. Frustrated, she gave the man's lower back a hard squeeze.
Qin Zheng let out a slight hiss.
Seeing his shy yet angry gaze glaring at her, Ye Yun quickly became obedient, rubbing his lower back, grabbing the back of his shirt, and snuggling into his arms in a flattering manner.
Qin Zheng: "..."
Li Xiuying stared at the two figures walking away hand in hand, speechless with astonishment.
Didn't these two come here specifically to check on Wang Dong's mother after hearing she was causing trouble and they were worried about her and her child?
Wait, check?
Li Xiuying, ignoring Guo Lili on the bed, hurriedly called out, "Zhengzi? What are you checking? What's wrong with you?"
"Big brother!"
Guo Lili, who was in the ward, also cried out.
The man beside her stopped in his tracks.
At this moment, Guo Lili had already had her IV drip reattached by the nurse. She ran to the ward door, one hand with the IV needle in her other hand, holding the IV bag in her other hand, and looked longingly at her and Qin Zheng.
Qin Zheng then turned around and looked back.
His voice was cold as he spoke: "What is it?"
He completely ignored Li Xiuying's question.
Li Xiuying's face was still full of doubt as she looked Qin Zheng up and down, fearing that something was wrong with his body.
Even now, Li Xiuying still has no place for Ye Yun in her eyes.
Even though she had changed her habit of bullying her daughter-in-law, in her eyes her daughter-in-law was still an outsider. She couldn't treat Ye Yun like her own children, so when she heard that they had come to the hospital for a check-up, she only cared about Qin Zheng.
What are we concerned about?
Is she worried about losing a wealthy, ex-son?
Ye Yun found it somewhat ironic.
However, she didn't care, just as coming to the hospital for a check-up was merely a trivial excuse Qin Zheng made up.
"Big brother, thank you."
A voice broke the silence.
Guo Lili stood at the door of the ward, holding the IV drip, gazing at Qin Zheng with deep gratitude in her eyes.
A moment of silence fell.
After a long pause, Qin Zheng finally spoke in a nonchalant tone: "Oh."
oh?
Ye Yun suddenly looked at his face and nodded; it was indeed the response he could give.
Seemingly realizing his reaction was a bit too bland, Qin Zheng added casually, "I understand."
Then: "Be more careful next time."
Ye Yun: "..."
Okay, well said!
Guo Lili looked grateful, her eyes red, as if Qin Zheng was her savior.
Then she said, "Brother, I don't really like hospitals. It's not safe here. I think I'm fine and can be discharged."
"Then I'll send someone to pick you up."
"No need," Guo Lili refused outright, glancing at Li Xiuying beside her. "I'm not going back to the villa with you. I want to go back to the village with our mother."
"What?"
Before Qin Zheng could react, Li Xiuying exploded.
She rushed up to Guo Lili, grabbed her wrist, and said angrily, "Don't be foolish! You'll only have a good life if you stay with your older brother. If you come back to the village with me, the villagers' gossip will drown you!"
Guo Lili shook her head again.
“No, you have to stay with your older brother. I’ve already discussed it with him!” Li Xiuying couldn’t understand why her daughter would give up such a promising future.
Knowing that Guo Lili was stubborn, she looked at Qin Zheng and said, "Zhengzi, don't listen to her nonsense. Let's stick to what we agreed on before and send her to your little villa as soon as she's discharged from the hospital!"
Qin Zheng didn't speak, but looked at Guo Lili with a questioning gaze.
Guo Lili nodded.
OK.
Qin Zheng said, "Whatever you say."
He didn't say another word after that, put his arm around Ye Yun's shoulder, and went down the stairs without looking back.
"Hey Zhengzi! Zhengzi!"
Li Xiuying wanted to chase after Qin Zheng, but Guo Lili called out from behind, "Mother!"
"Mom, my stomach hurts!"
After saying that, she squatted down and pretended to have a stomachache, which made Li Xiuying so anxious that she had to give up chasing Qin Zheng and hurriedly return to her side.
Just before going down the stairs, Ye Yun saw Li Xiuying both complaining and comforting her.
