90s: Protagonist's Biological Mother Possessed by a Time Traveler

In her previous life, Lin XiaZhu and her sister were forced by their family to earn money; both reluctantly went into the mountains to search for ginseng, but accidentally fell off a cliff. Her sis...

Chapter Thirty-Eight: He's Back

After rushing for half an hour, Yan Xin finally caught up with the tractor in front of her. Her legs trembled, and she stopped abruptly, collapsing to the ground. She said weakly, "I can't go on. My legs are weak and I can't pedal anymore."

"Hey girl, wanna ride the tractor?" The tractor didn't stop, so he just asked the question symbolically.

Yan Xin said she didn't want to talk. She just wanted to drink some water to catch her breath. Luckily, Lin Xiazhu had prepared a bottle of mineral water for her, which she drank in one go.

"Why didn't you buy another bottle?" Yan Xin shook the empty bottle and tossed it aside casually.

"Hey, don't throw it away. You can sell this. Bottled water is really expensive these days, nobody cares about it. They'd rather buy Coke." Lin Xiazhu put the empty bottle into her bag and then picked up her bicycle.

"You sit in the back, I'll ride."

"Are you that short to be able to reach the foot pedals?" Yan Xin asked worriedly.

As it turned out, Lin Xiazhu could do it. She swung her legs from side to side, one deep and one shallow, and was even faster than Yan Xin riding. Before long, she overtook the tractor.

"You can ride it, but you said you couldn't before, and you made me work myself to death. My back is about to break." Yan Xin felt she had been tricked and tears welled up in her eyes.

"Don't act innocent after getting the benefit. You're an adult, but you're not even as good as a child. How dare you complain? If I weren't strong, who could carry you?"

Lin Xiazhu was like a tireless little robot, riding her bicycle like a whirlwind, rushing forward without even panting.

In the evening, Lin Xiazhu and the others returned to their home in town. When they opened the locked door, the people inside, hearing the noise, excitedly came to greet them.

Lin Chacha's voice was the loudest, "Sister, Mom, you're finally back!" After being locked up for two days, she felt a bit stifled, mainly because her pillar of support was not around, and she didn't feel safe.

Lin Taozi stumbled over and hugged Lin Xiazhu's leg, "Big sister, I want something delicious."

"Alright, you little glutton, you'll get your share." Lin Xiazhu carried two large bags, each big enough to hold several children, into the house.

Yan Xin pushed her bicycle in from behind, with a large bag strapped to the back seat. Lin Xiaoxue, who had been standing at the door of the main room looking out, did not move.

Seeing Yan Xin come in, she ran over and said in a sweet, coquettish voice, "Mom, we bought a bicycle? What's in this bag?"

Yan Xin didn't react much. She glanced at Lin Xiaoxue indifferently and didn't say anything. She had long realized that among the four sisters of the Lin family, Lin Xiaoxue was the smartest, but she was too cunning and a little too clever.

If she were really Zhao Xiaolian, she might have been fooled, but she isn't. She could never treat these people as her daughters, not in this lifetime.

Seeing that Yan Xin was still the same deadbeat, no matter how much she tried to please her, it was no use, and Lin Xiaoxue was so angry that her liver hurt.

She's really out of her mind, what a useless person. I'll never count on her again.

After putting down all the packages, Lin Xiazhu took out a bunch of food: "Ten cans of condensed milk, two packs of oatmeal, red dates, black dates, walnuts, biscuits, chocolate, and more..."

"Wow, so much food! It's so expensive!" Lin Chacha was happy but also a little worried. Her older sister was so wasteful. If this continued, she didn't know if their family's money would last until next year.

"So many, I like them all." Lin Taozi smiled so much that her eyes narrowed into slits as she took a bite of a bag of cookies.

"You have to tear this open, the bag doesn't taste good." Lin Xiazhu chuckled as she helped her tear open the packaging bag.

"I want to eat this," Lin Xiaoxue said, picking up a can of condensed milk.

"This needs to be mixed with boiling water to drink. Everyone can drink a bowl every morning and evening." We can't buy boxed milk right now, only this kind of condensed milk, so we can only use this as a substitute for now.

"What is this?" Lin Xiaoxue's eyes darted around, realizing that her older sister was lying to her.

Lin Xiazhu knew what she was thinking at a glance, but she didn't argue with her and explained, "Milk tastes similar to milk powder."

"What does milk powder taste like?" Lin Xiaoxue's eyes were blank; forgive her for not having tasted many things before.

Hearing her say that, Lin Xiazhu's heart softened, and she stopped tidying up. She stood up and said, "Is there still boiling water in the kettle? If not, I'll go boil some right away and make you some milk."

"Yes, I just boiled it. I'll go get the kettle." Lin Chacha ran quickly into the kitchen.

After preparing a bowl of milk for everyone, Lin Xiazhu took one bowl upstairs. Xiao An's door was not closed. When she got to the door, Lin Xiazhu saw him struggling to move one foot off the bed, trying to get down and walk.

"Xiao An, what are you doing? Hurry up and get back on the bed. You can't get out of bed yet." Lin Xiazhu put the bowl on the table, then stepped over and carried him back to bed.

"He needs to rest for a full hundred days, otherwise even if his bones grow back, they will be displaced and deformed, and there might even be sequelae. You'll be crying when he becomes a cripple." He's such a worry. If she hadn't come up quickly, this little brat would have gotten out of bed.

"Sister, don't be angry. I stayed in bed obediently while you were away and didn't get out of bed." He had just heard her come back, but hadn't seen her come upstairs to see him, so he was anxious and wanted to move to the door to check.

Unexpectedly, just as he moved one foot off the bed, Lin Xiazhu bumped right into him.

Seeing his face turn red with anxiety, and his eyes filled with vulnerability and guilt, Lin Xiazhu couldn't bear to blame him anymore and had to soothe his fragile heart.

"I don't mean to blame Xiao An. I'm just worried about your injury. The doctor told me to be very careful." Xiao An is malnourished. If she doesn't take good care of herself now, her health will suffer in the future, and she'll become weak and frail.

Sensing the gentleness in Lin Xiazhu's tone, Xiao An's tense heart relaxed.
