Chapter 11 P - Enemies

Xing Yu spoke very politely, but his tone was cold and harsh, which, combined with his barely perceptible face and calm demeanor, made him appear even more composed.

It always makes people furious, especially for Chu Beiling.

The instructor, alerted by other students, quickly noticed and stepped forward to separate the two.

"With so much energy, go run five laps." The instructor's gaze swept back and forth between the two men: "Why were you fighting?"

Xing Yu didn't explain or look at the crowd before turning and running away. Chu Beiling stood there stunned for a moment before following him.

After running a distance, Chu Beiling glanced at Xing Yu as he continued to find an explanation for his sketchbook: "This matter won't just end like this, including the drawings that were torn up last time."

The two ran side by side on the playground. Sunlight filtered through the treetops, casting halos of light on the boy's face. Being so close, Xing Yu could even see the texture of his skin clearly.

His dark, cold eyes stared at Chu Beiling for a moment before he asked, "So what do you want? I'll redraw everything and make it up to you?"

That sounds more like a provocation.

Chu Beiling's temper flared even more, and he sneered, "How can this be the same?"

“An apology won’t do; redrawing it is different.” Xing Yu earnestly asked, “Then what do you want?”

Chu Beiling really didn't know what to do with Xing Yu. The album wasn't wet. He was just angry at Xing Yu's arrogant attitude and his jealousy towards him, which he didn't want to admit but had to.

Xing Yu glanced at him indifferently: "Either give me a solution, or shut up. If you keep pestering me next time, I won't be polite."

After saying that, he ran ahead of Chu Beiling once again.

"Damn it." Chu Beiling cursed under her breath and quickly followed. "Xing Yu, I should be the one saying this to you. If you cause trouble and wet my sketchbook, do you think I'd bother with you? What kind of hot commodity are you?"

Xing Yu: "You'd better be."

Chu Beiling emphasized: "That's exactly right."

Under the blazing sun, Xing Yu's forehead was covered in sweat, glistening in the sunlight. Chu Beiling watched as, with each movement, a few drops of sweat rolled down his forehead, past the faint red mole above his left eyebrow, and converged on his jawline, dripping onto his camouflage uniform.

Xing Yu's words were inherently cold, and he had an unpleasant appearance. "Then stop treating me like an imaginary enemy. I have no interest in dealing with you, nor do I want to compete with you."

With his thoughts exposed, Chu Beiling felt a lump in his throat and gradually slowed his pace, widening the distance between them.

He was angry and jealous, and secretly wanted to compete with him. But if Xing Yu didn't provoke him, he would never take the initiative to provoke Xing Yu. At most, he would compete with him secretly.

Staring at Xing Yu's broad back, Chu Beiling muttered to himself: Annoying jerk, you rascal, I'll drag you into an alley and beat you up sooner or later.

After the five laps were completed, the homeroom teacher, who had received the news, waited in place. Wang Caiyan did not ask the two what had just happened, but directly told Xing Yu to return to the main group to continue training, while taking Chu Beiling to a corner by herself.

"Chu Beiling, stop looking for trouble." Wang Caiyan scolded sternly.

Without asking any questions or distinguishing right from wrong, they pointed the finger at him as the source of the conflict.

Chu Beiling laughed: "Teacher Wang, why are you so sure that I'm just making trouble for no reason? If Xing Yu hadn't deliberately gotten my sketchbook wet, I wouldn't have ended up like this."

Wang Caiyan felt that Chu Beiling was making a mountain out of a molehill: "It's just a picture album, so what if it gets wet? Even if it really is Xing Yu, can't you talk properly? Why do you have to hit him? Will that solve the problem?"

"Yes, yes, it's all my fault. Xing Yu is right no matter what he does." Chu Beiling didn't want to, and was too lazy to, argue with his homeroom teacher who had already determined that everything was caused by him, or explain who was right and who was wrong.

He only knew that if he didn't admit his mistake, he wouldn't be able to leave.

For teachers, it's not a big deal if top students make minor mistakes, and they won't pursue the matter.

If a top student and a struggling student make a mistake together, it must be the struggling student's fault, and they have no right to explain themselves.

Wang Caiyan narrowed her eyes: "Chu Beiling, what kind of attitude is this when you apologize?"

Chu Beiling just wanted to leave quickly and didn't want to continue the entanglement: "Teacher Wang, I was wrong. I shouldn't have provoked Xing Yu. I won't do it again next time."

Wang Caiyan nodded with some satisfaction: "It's good that you know you made a mistake. Don't do it again next time. Go back now."

Chu Beiling rejoined the team, and Xu Tunan, who was standing next to him, lowered his voice and took the initiative to say, "Dude, this matter can't be entirely blamed on Xing Yu. I was also at fault. I should have screwed the bottle cap on properly."

Chu Beiling: "Forget it, it's in the past, no need to bring it up again."

After the morning training ended, a group of first-year high school students rushed into the cafeteria like hungry wolves, which startled the second and third-year students.

Xu Tunan dragged Chu Beiling to the window to queue, and they heard two girls from their class chatting quietly behind them.

"Why don't the two incredibly handsome guys in our class get along? They both seem to be close to Li Dong from our dorm. Is it because they both like Li Dong that they fought over her? Honestly, Li Dong is beautiful and academically gifted. If I were a guy, I would like her too."

"But Li Dong seems to have a better relationship with Chu Beiling! Xing Yu seems too cold and unapproachable. Although he is very handsome, Chu Beiling is the gentle type and seems more like a qualified boyfriend, right? So is it possible that Xing Yu once stole someone else's love?"

"Very likely."

The two girls were chatting enthusiastically about gossip when Xing Yu suddenly appeared out of nowhere, looking at them and saying, "I suggest you two go write screenplays; you have very rich imaginations."

His voice was low and deep, carrying a faint chill, which startled the two girls so much that they dropped their meal cards on the ground.

Chu Beiling bent down, picked up the two people's meal cards, and handed them to them, smiling as she said, "Li Dong and I are just friends, we're not dating. Such speculation is not good for girls."

Whether it was from being startled a second time, or from Chu Beiling's handsome smile, the two girls stared at him blankly, feeling both shy and embarrassed, and for a moment forgot to take their meal cards.

Chu Beiling chuckled: "Don't you want your meal card anymore?"

"Yes, yes." The two girls quickly snapped out of their daze and took the meal cards from his hand.

Chu Beiling was worried that the two girls would feel awkward, so he was about to let them line up in their own seats and go to the back row himself.

One of the girls, named Wang Qi, dragged the other girl away.

Noticing Xing Yu's gaze lingering on her, Chu Beiling looked over and asked, "What's so interesting?"

Xing Yu walked past him, paused for a moment, and said, "So you can speak properly after all."

Chu Beiling met his cold, sharp gaze: "Whether I speak properly or not depends on who I'm talking to."

After a pause, he said, word by word, "You're not worth it."

Xing Yu's dark eyes stared straight at him. The cold white light from the cafeteria ceiling reflected on his aggressive face, giving him a frosty look, both cold and arrogant.

For a moment, Chu Beiling had the illusion that he might pounce on him and bite him to death.

Feeling uneasy under his gaze, Chu Beiling paused for a moment before meeting his hawk-like eyes again. "Want to fight?"

He was prepared for Xing Yu to rush up and fight him.

Xing Yu suddenly laughed, a laugh tinged with a hint of mockery, but the laugh quickly faded, revealing an indescribable sense of brokenness.

Chu Beiling was baffled: "You..." He hadn't finished speaking.

The next second, Xing Yu turned and walked away expressionlessly, creating a gust of wind.

Chu Beiling was completely bewildered, glancing sideways at Xu Tunan: "What does he mean by this?!"

Xu Tunan shook his head, he didn't know either: "Maybe, they don't want to fight?"

"What a weirdo." Chu Beiling didn't want to say anything more. Who knew if Xing Yu had lost his mind again? "Ignore him. Eating is the most important thing in the world."

After having lunch with Xu Tunan, the two returned to their dormitory to rest.

After lunch break, they resumed their afternoon training. The afternoon was relatively peaceful. He didn't argue with Xing Yu. While resting in place, Xing Yu remained neither too close nor too far from the crowd.

After the morning's farce, and given Xing Yu's genuine reluctance, even if Xue Ziang wanted to, he was pressured by Xing Yu's cold gaze and the need to maintain a gentle and supportive image as a class monitor to the other students, so he didn't force him to integrate into the group.

At the end of the day's training, the school did not let them off the hook because it was military training week.

Xigao is a key high school, and while there are no formal classes during military training, they still have evening self-study sessions.

There are no classes or homework, and they can't rest on their desks, but they can arrange their own time. The class is full of drawing enthusiasts. With nothing else to do, they can only pass the time by drawing.

The quiet classroom was mostly filled with the sounds of pencils rubbing against rough paper or paintbrushes stirring water in a bucket.

Everyone was focused on what they were doing, and when one or two people occasionally talked, the class monitor would stop them.

Moonlight streamed through the window, and outside lay the tree-lined path of the campus. Several Bodhi trees swayed in the wind beneath the teaching building, bringing in a faint fragrance, while the chirping of cicadas filled the air.

Chu Beiling was coloring yesterday's "beating up Xing Yu" with watercolors. Xing Yu was still sketching the figure beside her. Just as Chu Beiling dipped her brush in black paint to fill in Xing Yu's black hole-like eyes, her left hand was bumped. She lost her grip on the brush, and the long, fat spiked club was split in two by the black paint, which looked particularly jarring under the incandescent light.

Another beautiful painting has been ruined.

Chu Beiling snatched the charcoal pencil from Xing Yu's hand, slammed it heavily on the table, and stared at him intently: "Xing Yu, do you feel uncomfortable if you don't have a little itch?

The softer the pencil, the more brittle it is. Charcoal pencils are especially fragile. They are not durable to begin with. If they are hit like this, the inside will be almost completely broken. They will break when you try to sharpen them and become basically unusable.

Xing Yu glanced at the charcoal pencil that had been sacrificed with a pang of heartache, then looked at Chu Beiling again: "What are you planning to do now?"

Chu Beiling was almost amused by his self-righteous attitude, and directly placed the sketchbook in front of him: "You split my lovely spiked club in two, what do you think I want to do now? I also want to ask, do you want to destroy this sketchbook completely before you're satisfied?"

Xing Yu stared intently at Chu Beiling's picture album.

Even in chibi form, the features are still very distinct, making it easy to tell who is who. Especially in chibi form, Xing Yu's faintly visible cinnabar mole above his left eyebrow is like a close-up shot.

Chu Beiling felt a pang of guilt under his gaze and quickly put away the sketchbook: "What are you doing?"

Xing Yu tapped on the table: "Let's switch seats, and I'll replace your spiked club."

Even if the spiked club is repaired after being chopped in half, it will still have cracks.

However, Chu Beiling readily accepted Xing Yu's suggestion to add a spiked club. He could draw the spiked club himself and use it against himself, so he wouldn't lose out either way.

As for his seat, he didn't want to change it. If he moved to the window seat, the standing air conditioner behind him would block his way, and he would be completely surrounded by Xing Yu. He would have to pass by Xing Yu to go out, and Young Master Chu wouldn't allow that.

Xing Yu had already taken over his sketchbook and paints and started repairing his spiked club: "Okay, next time your left hand gets bumped and the painting gets dirty, I won't be responsible."

Chu Beiling: "???"

Xue Ziang reminded them not to talk during evening self-study, and Chu Beiling lowered her voice and said, "Okay, we'll change after evening self-study."

It's because he uses his left hand to hold the paintbrush.

Xing Yu lowered his head and continued to work on the spiked club. Chu Beiling watched him finish drawing it, but Xing Yu showed no intention of returning it to him.

Chu Beiling: "You still can't bear to give it back to me?"

Xing Yu held out his hand: "Make up for the charcoal pencil."

"Ugh, I'm really impressed." Chu Beiling rolled her eyes and muttered a few words under her breath.

Seeing his attitude that he wouldn't draw without a charcoal pencil, Chu Beiling had no choice but to take a charcoal pencil out of the toolbox and hand it to Xing Yu.

Just as Xing Yu was about to accept, Chu Beiling withdrew her hand and deliberately asked, "Do you want a 2B or a 4B?"

Xing Yu handed him the charcoal pencil that had just been destroyed, leaving only a large "Hard" letter on the top of the pencil for him to see.

Chu Beiling was confused and stared at him blankly.

Xing Yu suddenly closed the distance between them, and Chu Beiling leaned back to create some distance, almost losing her balance, before Xing Yu pulled her back to sit upright.

Xing Yu waved the picture book in front of Chu Beiling: "Keep being stubborn, or do you want it?"

Chu Beiling felt like he was about to vomit blood. He pointed at him and called him a bastard.

Xing Yu waited patiently for his response.

Their eyes met, and they remained silent for a moment.

With the lead-carbon war over, the two exchanged money for goods, achieving a perfect cooperation.

The big winner, Xing Yu, smiled faintly: "Thank you."

Thank you my foot!
