A Guide to Raising Younglings During Natural Disasters

Natural disasters were incessant. Ning Xia had survived alone for six years and finally decided to return to her old home in Qianzhou to start anew. Unexpectedly, she rescued two skinny little ones...

Chapter 19 Rich Rewards

Before Ningxia could breathe a sigh of relief, the little monkey in front of him stood up straight, raised his arm and placed his right paw next to his temple. Two seconds later, he put down his paw, stood up straight, then hunched over again, turned around and caught up with the monkey group.

In a flash, Ningxia grasped what flashed through his mind and suddenly understood that this group of monkeys behaving strangely were imitating!

Lifting the injured monkey was imitation, even though the monkey did not need to be lifted; bandaging it was also imitation. There were so many injured monkeys just now, why was only that one sent to her? Because it was the only one injured in the same place as hers.

Ningxia looked thoughtfully at the bandage on her left arm. Clearly, these imitative monkeys didn't understand that trauma medicine was universally applicable to all injuries. Thinking of this, Ningxia blushed and breathed a sigh of relief.

As for the object of imitation, Ningxia recalled the monkey that saluted her just now, and had a guess in her mind. In today's world, apart from the military, no soldier has the habit of saluting. She just doesn't know if the military is within the territory of this group of monkeys, or are they in a hostile relationship?

Ningxia rubbed her head and put these things aside. They were just conjectures. She just hoped they wouldn't come again, otherwise, she really couldn't withstand the monkeys' plucking of her little things.

"Sister Xia Xia, shall we run away?" Lin Yi was obviously frightened by the big scene just now.

Ningxia had a headache, "Can you outrun me?"

Turning around, Ningxia was met with Sangsang's sad face. There was also a mischievous little monkey next to him. She turned her head to look at the woods, but the monkeys were nowhere to be seen. She turned back to look at the little monkey. How could she have left this little thing behind? They wouldn't be back for a while...

"Did it bully you?" Ningxia looked at Sangsang's expression that seemed to be about to cry, and felt the blue veins on his forehead throbbing.

"No...no..." Sangsang hid behind Ningxia, trying to avoid the little monkey. Unexpectedly, the little monkey was not afraid at all. It whimpered twice and followed her. However, this time it did not lift the corner of her clothes. It just looked up at her.

Ningxia rarely cared about them. She turned around and slumped down on the bed, exhausted both physically and mentally.

"Go to sleep, stop tossing and turning."

The two little ones haven't gone to bed yet today. Ningxia looked at the watch and it was already past nine o'clock in the evening.

Sangsang hurried back to the bed and buried her head in the quilt, trying to avoid something. Ningxia only felt a flash before her eyes, and a small figure flashed past. It squatted down and looked at Sangsang with its head tilted in confusion, and wanted to reach out to lift her quilt.

Seeing that Sangsang was about to cry again, Lin Yi felt it was too noisy, so he simply lay down between the man and the monkey to separate them.

The little monkey's attention was easily attracted by Lin Yi. Seeing him lying flat with his eyes closed, it looked at him for a few breaths, then moved its small body close to Lin Yi and tried to lie down. The strange touch from behind made it whimper several times in a row.

Lin Yi opened his eyes, turned his head, and opened his mouth as if to say something, but he met the little monkey's dark eyes, and its pouting mouth had not even retracted. Man and monkey stared at each other in silence for a long while, and then Lin Yi closed his mouth speechlessly, closing his eyes and refusing to look.

Sangsang looked at the little monkey's pouting mouth, its legs curled up on its belly, its palms facing the sky and stretched out in front of its chest. Only its back was touching the quilt, and its tail on its butt kept sweeping across the quilt. Sangsang didn't dare to make a sound, and quietly observed all these new things from across his brother.

Ningxia was left alone looking at the woods with melancholy. She tried to find a way to cheer herself up. It was a good thing. At least the monkeys had no ill intentions. Besides, with such a large group here, there shouldn't be any danger in the nearby area. Ningxia felt a little uneasy when she thought of the endless monkey group.

"Get up!" At twelve o'clock midnight, Ningxia woke Lin Yi up, his eyes fixed on the woods ahead.

Lin Yi turned over and sat up, "What's wrong, Sister Xia Xia?"

Ningxia didn't answer, and Lin Yi understood because monkeys of all sizes jumped out of the woods again.

Ningxia had a bad temper to begin with, and now she was being disturbed again and again. Faced with the huge number of creatures in front of her, she got angry and let it go.

Before she could say anything, the old monkey came out again, followed by a small group of monkeys holding something. They walked to Ningxia in an orderly manner and fell to the ground with a clatter.

Ningxia was stunned. It was a mountain of fruit! Loquats, peaches, bananas! There was even a watermelon the size of a small basin! And mixed in with it were chestnuts and walnuts!

Ningxia swore she could actually smell the sweet aroma of fruit and couldn't help swallowing. "Is this... a reward?"

The old monkey didn't respond to her, obviously he didn't understand.

Sangsang had already woken up. When the little monkey saw his family coming, he turned over and sat up nimbly, ran to the pile of fruits, dug out a yellow banana, walked to Sangsang, peeled it skillfully, handed it to Sangsang, and whimpered twice.

Neither side made any movement for the time being, quietly watching the two cubs interact.

Sangsang looked at the banana in front of her. She seemed to have seen this thing before in her memory, but it was no longer clear. The sweet smell in front of her tempted her. The little monkey was a little anxious when he saw that she didn't eat it. He whimpered twice and directly pushed the banana to Sangsang's mouth.

Unable to resist the temptation, Sangsang glanced up at Ningxia. Seeing she didn't object, she opened her lips and took a small bite. The sweet, soft, and glutinous flavor instantly spread across her mouth, a taste Sangsang had never tasted before. Her eyes sparkled, and she didn't care to be afraid of the little monkey before her. Her teeth, once again performing her signature routine, stood at attention.

Ningxia looked at the banana residue on Sangsang's teeth, twitched her lips and turned her head away, not wanting to look.

Seeing that Sangsang liked it, the little monkey whimpered happily, stuffed the banana in his hand into Sangsang's hand, turned around and ran to the pile of fruits, picked up two big peaches, and turned around to push them into Lin Yi's hand.
