Natural disasters were incessant. Ning Xia had survived alone for six years and finally decided to return to her old home in Qianzhou to start anew. Unexpectedly, she rescued two skinny little ones...
I quietly went up to the fifth floor. Such a large flat was luxuriously converted into three households. The front door of each household was a heavy wooden door that looked extremely heavy and had many carvings on it.
Ningxia walked to one of the doors. The lock was a mortise and tenon structure made using ancient craftsmanship, and she didn't have the ability to open it even if she wanted to.
The two retreated to the corner of the corridor. Ningxia thought for a moment, then took off her slightly fitted top, leaving only a faded piece of underwear. Monkey's eyes widened, then he realized what was happening and quickly turned his head away.
Ningxia bent down and whispered a few words in the man's ear, and the two of them returned to Chen Zhifang's door again.
Ningxia reached out and wiped the blood from the man's neck onto her waist, abdomen, and chest. She skillfully smudged only the scattered bloodstains on her face, making her already upright features look a little chilling.
Ningxia collapsed on the floor and knocked on the door. After a while, there was no response. The man took a deep breath, knocked harder, and then opened the door.
A thin middle-aged man about 1.7 meters tall opened the door. Monkey trembled and clenched his hands tightly at the crotch of his pants, not knowing whether it was out of fear or something else.
Chen Zhifang's expression wasn't very good at the moment. His friendly face was now filled with impatience. However, seeing the hunting team uniform on the man, he managed a smile. "What's the matter, little brother? Why did you find yourself on the fifth floor?"
A flattering smile appeared on Monkey's face. He looked around and leaned forward mysteriously. "Minister Chen, Brother Mu asked me to give you a gift." He said while pointing to the ground.
Chen Zhifang glanced at Ningxia casually. She was indeed good-looking. Although a little thin, she was quite well-proportioned. He frowned. He didn't like this either. What was wrong with Mu Yuanjun being so crazy in the middle of the night?
Seeing this, the monkey rubbed his hands and said, "Just turned eighteen, still pretty young."
"She just turned eighteen? She must be at least twenty-one or twenty-two."
"Well, things are different now than before. If it were before, look at her face, wouldn't it be so tender that you could squeeze water out of it? Besides," the man lowered his voice, "she's still a virgin~" his tone was extremely obscene.
Chen Zhifang then looked at Ningxia carefully and asked, "Why aren't you talking? Are you a mute?"
"Look at what you said. Can a disabled person be sent to you? He is disobedient and stubborn. I gave him some medicine. Brother Chen, you are in trouble."
Ningxia looked up at the right time and stared at Chen Zhifang fiercely.
The worn underwear barely covered her body, her skin was fair and smooth, her small face, the size of a palm, was full of rebelliousness, her brows were sharp, like a beautiful wolf that would pounce at any time.
Chen Zhifang smacked his lips, finally finding some interest, "Why did your Boss Mu ask you to come at this hour?"
Monkey bent even lower, hiding his face in the dim light, making it hard to discern his true expression. "The boss wants to get some arms, doesn't he? Brother Chen, you're incredibly well-connected. Once you're done, we'll split it 40% and 60%."
A glint of contempt flashed in Chen Zhifang's eyes. "Okay, I got it. I'll find time to talk to him later. You can leave." At the base, one side had weapons, the other had power. He wouldn't be able to reap all the benefits from just managing logistics. Only those who were desperate would try to disrupt this balance.
Once one side becomes dominant, no matter who it is, he will be the next one to be dealt with. He hopes that the two sides will always check and balance each other, and he will be very happy in the middle, without having to worry about big things and having the final say on small things. There is no reason for him to provoke hatred.
After saying that, Chen Zhifang reached out and lifted Ningxia up. Ningxia followed his strength and walked into the door. The monkey hesitated for a long time before quietly walking back to the shadow of the corridor and hiding.
It was obvious that Chen Zhifang did not doubt the two men at all. After all, this was in the main building, and the people who came were wearing hunting team uniforms. There were so many sentry posts on the first, second and third floors. He did not expect that someone would have the courage to come in and kill him, and even successfully broke into his door.
Ningxia was dragged into the house. She suddenly came to a bright house from the dim corridor. Ningxia blinked a little uncomfortably. It took a few seconds for her to see the whole house. The decoration was not magnificent, but it was rare.
In the center of the living room sat a low, antique-looking wooden table, seemingly immeasurably heavy. Surrounding it were large, imposing wooden sofas covered with thick, woven blankets. A wall of floor-to-ceiling windows held hand-embroidered curtains that Ningxia couldn't afford even if she sold all her money. Against the wall stood a tall cabinet filled with valuables that would be hard to find, even with the best money.
Before Ningxia could take a closer look, Chen Zhifang took off his hastily put on coat, grabbed Ningxia's short hair while wearing a vest, and went straight into the next room.
It was a bedroom. Chen Zhifang threw her on the bed neatly. Ningxia did not struggle and let him do what he wanted. "Behave yourself. I'll come back to play with you later." After saying that, he walked out.
When he heard the noise outside the door stop completely, Ningxia quickly broke free from the weak rope that tied the monkey to his body.
She quietly got out of bed, pulled out the hidden dagger from her boots, bent over to the door, listened for a while, and then carefully pushed the door open.
The living room was empty, and the doors of the other rooms were tightly closed. Ningxia quietly turned off the lights in the living room. The light left, and there was still a light in the room where Ningxia had just stayed, and the light coming through the crack of the door on the left, which allowed Ningxia to lock onto the target immediately.
She walked closer and whispered something. She couldn't quite make out what Chen Zhifang was saying. Thinking back to the information Monkey had given her, she knew he should be the only one there at this point. Ningxia narrowed her eyes, her muscles tensed, ready to strike.
She walked to the cabinet in the living room and knocked over several of her collections, which clattered all over the floor. She then quickly returned to the door and hid them again.
Inside the door, Chen Zhifang's voice suddenly stopped, and within a few breaths, the door opened.
Ningxia seized the opportunity and rushed forward with the sharp edge of the dagger in his hand. Unexpectedly, Chen Zhifang was not a pushover either. He took two steps back in an instant to avoid Ningxia.
Ningxia didn't give him a chance to react and stepped forward again. The two men wrestled with each other. Seeing that Chen Zhifang was about to scream, Ningxia made up her mind. Regardless of the other party holding her arm, she turned around and stabbed the dagger into Chen Zhifang's chest. Chen Zhifang felt pain and loosened his hand. Ningxia took the opportunity to stab him twice more. Chen Zhifang covered the wound and slowly fell backwards.
Ningxia finally breathed a sigh of relief and wiped the beads of sweat from her face. In just a few seconds, she was sweating all over.
Dragging the still-dead Chen Zhifang aside, Ningxia surveyed the vast, empty room. A curtain separated the center, and an entire wall was covered in recessed glass grooves the size of washbasins. It was unclear whether it was the water inside that had taken on the color, or the light reflecting off the glass. The juxtaposition of blue and white was, at first glance, quite beautiful.
Ningxia approached and saw that each groove contained body parts soaked in liquid. A closer look revealed they were all parts of children. Ningxia narrowed her eyes, her brows arched high, and the coldness in her eyes deepened.
She walked to the curtain, ignoring the pain of her dislocated arm, and raised the dagger with her other intact hand, suddenly pulled open the curtain. After seeing clearly inside, a feeling of depression rushed into her heart.
