A Guide to Raising Younglings During Natural Disasters

Natural disasters were incessant. Ning Xia had survived alone for six years and finally decided to return to her old home in Qianzhou to start anew. Unexpectedly, she rescued two skinny little ones...

Chapter 5 Two Children

There was a wooden bed in the middle of the room, and on the bed lay a skinny boy, his arms hanging high up, trying to find support with his feet propped up.

The boy's eyes were watery, his face was covered in traces of moisture, his brow bones were prominent, and because he was thin, his jaw was also angular. Only his overly sunken cheeks ruined this beauty. He looked even more unapproachable than Ningxia.

At this moment, his eyes were wide open, staring at Ningxia with full of vigilance.

Ningxia saw that he was wearing only a pair of brand new, white underwear that didn't fit him well. His skinny chest and back were covered in whip marks, and his bony thighs were covered in pinch marks and bite marks. One of them was even bleeding, a horrifying purple-red color.

Ningxia stepped forward with the dagger tightly grasped. Ignoring the boy's hateful gaze, he swung his hand and neatly cut the rope hanging above the boy's wrist. The boy then fell onto the bed, his bent back with a noticeable spine, rising and falling with his heavy breathing.

Ningxia grabbed his hand and cut the rope on his wrist which was already broken and bleeding. The boy ignored the scars all over his body, pushed Ningxia away and stumbled into the corner.

Only then did Ningxia see clearly that there was a small figure in the corner.

"Sangsang! Sangsang!" The boy held the unconscious child in his arms and kept calling out in a hoarse voice.

Ningxia didn't have time to pay attention to them. She walked to Chen Zhifang, who had already started to spit blood, and mercilessly pierced his body with the dagger, avoiding the vital parts and making more than a dozen bloody holes of varying sizes.

The boy in the corner hugged the motionless person in his arms and looked over here vigilantly, his eyes fixed on Chen Zhifang on the ground.

After letting out the gloomy anger in her heart, Ningxia stood up and opened the door. The man at the corner heard the noise and walked over cautiously. When he saw that it was Ningxia who opened the door, he suddenly smiled.

"What's the situation down there?" It should be about time.

The man stepped forward and leaned inside, "Sister Mu is here now. She's at Mu Yuanjun's place on the fifth floor. She asked me to tell you to leave as soon as we're done here and gather at the agreed place.

Ningxia folded her arms and looked at him, "Do you know Chen Zhifang?"

The monkey's flattering smile froze, "My sister..."

Ningxia raised her hand to interrupt, and tilted her head inside nonchalantly, "Clean up inside." After that, she put the shirt in Monkey's hand back on her body and went downstairs calmly.

The monkey smiled awkwardly, and only after the person went downstairs did he show dejection on his face. He took a deep breath. Even if he couldn't take Chen Zhifang's life, he would chop the beast's body into meat paste.

Who knew that when he followed the trail in, he would see two frail children huddled together. Monkey frowned and walked over to them, calling out twice. One was unconscious, and the other was unconscious. They looked up at him dazedly, then lowered their heads, not knowing whether they were dead or alive.

Looking at the marks on the boy's body, the monkey understood.

He turned and came to Chen Zhifang, the once high and mighty head of the base's logistics department, now had blood oozing from his mouth and nose, his chest rising and falling rapidly, and his eyes full of pleading.

The monkey suddenly laughed, looked at the direction Ningxia left, his eyes red, and he said thank you in his heart, then squatted down, admiring Chen Zhifang's dying look. Seeing that the other party was about to die, the light in his eyes gradually dissipated, and the monkey took out the dagger, closed his eyes, and stabbed the other party's heart fiercely.

"Where did these two kids come from?" Chen Jin, who was waiting downstairs, saw that there were kids on Monkey's back and chest, so he hurried over.

Monkey was panting. He was thin to begin with, and even though the two kids were just a couple of skeletons, he was still exhausted after carrying them down from the fourth floor.

Monkey handed the child to Chen Jin and walked towards Ningxia with the jar in his hand. At this time, her dislocated arm had been treated and she was leaning in the corner to rest.

"Sister, I... I found my sister... After she was abducted, I... I couldn't even find her body..." At this point, a man in his twenties burst into tears, "Thank you, sister, thank you..."

Ningxia glanced at the jar in his hand. Floating in the middle of the liquid was a cute little hand, which had turned pale from being soaked, and there was a heart-shaped mole in the middle of its palm.

Ningxia fished out a piece of simply wrapped candy from her pocket and threw it over, "This is for your sister."

Monkey took it, tears and snot still hanging from it, and laughed out loud, "Thank you, sister."

"Ningxia, come and get your things."

Mu Yuanqing also came to the first-floor lobby. At this time, almost all the people she brought with her were gathered. There were no casualties except Ningxia's dislocated arm.

Ningxia stepped forward and found that each of them was holding a gun.

Ningxia narrowed her eyes and looked at Mu Yuanqing, "So the reward you're talking about is the one you get from your brother right after the job is done?"

Mu Yuanqing chuckled, "How could I possibly be so good at dealing in arms? Look, it's so much better to be self-service."

Ningxia took the small bundle handed to her by Mu Yuanqing and opened it to take a look.

Mu Yuanqing stepped forward with a smile, "I've loaded fifty extra bullets for you, and a mini crossbow. It's military-grade, a good thing."

Ningxia appreciated the favor, nodded slightly, and put the bag away.

The group quietly withdrew again, just as they had quietly come. When they returned to Chen Jin's house, only Mu Yuanqing, Ningxia, Monkey, and the two rescued children were left.

The others hid under the cover of night, and no one knew what they did tonight.

Looking at Mu Yuanqing's bags, Ningxia raised her eyebrows in surprise, "Aren't you staying?" She thought Mu Yuanqing went to so much trouble to do all this just to stay and compete for power with her brother.
