When 15-year-old Dazai has a dream about his ‘future,’ he sees himself with a partner he calls Chuuya. His real life begins to follow the path of his dream, with one key difference: he is alone...
Chapter 2.2 Double Black
Recently, something unexpected happened: news came from somewhere that the former leader had been resurrected and was coming to seek revenge on the person who killed him.
Upon hearing this news, the current leader, Mori Ōgai, decided to send Dazai Osamu to Leiba Street to verify its accuracy.
As a result, Dazai Osamu obtained the 'Silver Hand,' which was said to be able to force Port Mafia members below the rank of officer to obey orders.
That night, Dazai Osamu had a new dream that was related to the previous dream that had been bothering him, and the dream was about the 'resurrection of the former leader' incident.
In this dream, the stranger who appeared in the previous dream did indeed reappear.
Moreover, he and the ochre-haired boy formed a temporary partnership in his dream, and together they resolved the incident.
Ever since learning of the former leader's resurrection, Dazai Osamu, who in a sense was one of the parties involved in the former leader's death, felt that someone must be manipulating the situation behind the scenes. After all, how could the dead be resurrected? If such a thing really happened, then death, which should be something to be longed for, would lose its meaning.
Dazai Osamu guessed correctly; the resurrection of the former leader was not real, but rather someone was manipulating everything behind the scenes.
In his dream, he made a bet with Chuuya Nakahara to see who could find the real culprit first.
Of course, in the end, Dazai Osamu won the bet.
However, what he didn't expect was that the guy was actually an excellent intuitive creature. Although his intelligence was low (basically a stupid slug!), he still managed to discover the identity of the person behind the scenes through his innate intuition, only a little slower than him.
But he could still say with certainty that even a hundred years from now, Nakahara Chuuya would still be no match for him.
Then, as they identified the enemy and began fighting the person behind it all, Dazai Osamu awoke.
He opened his eyes suddenly, his pupils dilated as he stared blankly at the black ceiling.
He stared blankly for a while, a flurry of information flashing through his mind, only to vanish into nothingness. Then he realized that cold sweat had appeared on his forehead, and his body was chilling. The beads of sweat gradually gathered into small streams, sliding down his cheeks like tears.
He took a few deep breaths, managing to calm himself and quiet his heart. When he tried to recall the true identity of the person behind it all, he found he had forgotten everything once again. Nothing—the events, the people, or anything else—was clear in his memory; everything had become blurred. It was as if something didn't want him to be spoiled through his dreams.
...What a pity. He finally had a chance to be spoiled, but he failed to seize the golden moment when he first woke up to write down the enemy's name and other information.
Not only that, in his dream, he could easily call out his temporary partner's name, but now, lying in bed, his lips moved a few times, a name was on the tip of his tongue, about to be uttered, but his mind was blank. He couldn't recall any words, couldn't utter any syllables, and could only open and close his mouth in vain.
He thought, this must really be a precognitive dream, otherwise how could it be related to his recent mission, and also connected to his previous dreams, just like a TV series.
Of course, it's also possible that what you think about during the day manifests in your dreams at night. But that's unlikely, since he's never had two dreams where the same stranger appeared in both, especially since he's never met this stranger in real life.
With such a distinctive appearance and personality, he believed that in real life, even if he had only met the person once, he would definitely remember what they looked like.
But meeting in a dream is different. After all, the forgetfulness of dreams is generally uncontrollable. He only remembers that such a person existed in his dream.
It's a bit of a pity that, although he already knew who the mastermind was in his dream, he still forgot the guy's true identity.
He had forgotten the appearance and voice of the unfamiliar boy, and now only remembered that there seemed to be an extremely beautiful blue color on the other person's body, which reminded him of the sea at dawn and the color of blue diamonds.
Because of the mission issued by Mori Ōgai, "Investigate the resurrection of the former leader," Dazai Osamu went to Raihachi, a town where the ghost of the former leader was said to have appeared, to investigate related information.
Leibo Street, as the name suggests, is a place with a deep bowl-shaped terrain.
It is said that its formation is related to a secret, unknown experiment. In the depths of his mind, on a day long forgotten by humanity, a violent explosion of unknown cause occurred on this land, countless clumps of soil vanished into thin air, leaving a giant crater. The cause of the explosion is unknown; no information or clues were left at the site. Even the claim that "the formation of Leibo Street is related to a secret experiment" is merely the conjecture of others regarding the scorched earth and crater. This can only serve as a reference and cannot definitively prove the origin of the crater.
Leibo Street was formed after the creation of the giant pit. It became a gathering place for criminals, the poor, and undocumented immigrants. Living conditions were naturally poor, and sanitation was neglected. It was an unmanaged slum, a place where hunger, darkness, and indifference gathered. Anyone who entered this land had to be prepared to be watched.
In order to investigate the mission, Dazai Osamu came to a place recorded in the data. This was also a scene that appeared in his dream and was still vaguely remembered in his mind—an ordinary crossroads, the place where he first met the boy named something like "Middle".
The evidence for confirmation was simple: if it looked similar and felt familiar, then he could be fairly certain it was the place. He never doubted his intuition.
At this moment, he was flipping through a handbook that he regarded as a masterpiece, waiting for something, accompanied by Hirotsu Ryūrō.
Before setting off, he specifically calculated the date and found that if his prediction was correct, today would be the first day that he knew the events in his dream would happen.
So he even took out the encrypted paper and reviewed it again.
Now it seems that if he really did meet that strange boy and see the explosion, then it proves that he was not wrong; it was a precognitive dream.

A lot of new content has been added, and most of the later plot will be changed. I want to try to write a longer version.
The last update was two years ago. I never thought I'd be back to updating again. It feels like the end is just around the corner! [hugs]
