Never casually save a man. If you are dazzlingly beautiful, then even more so, lest you be coveted and unable to escape.
Nan Qianyue saved not just one, but three; saving them both physically...
Five Surnames Village.
As the group moved south, Yue stopped at the village entrance. She solemnly instructed Qin Yi, "You stay in the carriage. Hongyi and Qingyi can accompany me."
Qin Yi surprisingly cooperated, leaning back lazily with a smile, and said, "Okay, I'll wait for you to come back."
Nan Qianyue's prepared persuasive words were stuck in her chest, but she smiled with relief without suspicion, stood up and kissed Qin Yi's lips, "I'm leaving."
After getting out of the carriage, Nanqian Yue looked at Xie Yanzhou and clasped her hands in thanks to him in a traditional Jianghu (江湖, a term referring to the world of martial arts and chivalry) manner.
Xie Yanzhou chuckled and nodded. "Don't worry, I will protect him."
After migrating south, Yue clasped hands again and walked into the village with Qingyi and Hongyi.
Inside the village, beneath the ancient, towering banyan tree, Xiao Chen held a baby in his arms, his eyes gentle.
Beside him, Ah He was also holding a baby and feeding it goat milk.
Three toddlers, who had just learned to walk, played around them with their new toys, while two elderly people sat in front of the door, smiling kindly.
Smoke curled from the rooftops behind them.
Seeing this overly harmonious scene, Nanqian Yue wondered if she was seeing things.
Xiao Chen raised his eyes, his pupils shining. "Nan Nan, you've come."
He carried the baby toward Nan Qianyue, completely ignoring the two pairs of hostile eyes behind her.
“Look at this child, isn’t he handsome?” He held the baby and leaned close to Nanqianyue.
Nanqianyue instinctively stepped back, her gaze passing over Xiao Chen and looking at Ahe.
Upon catching her gaze, Ah He hurriedly lowered his head, like a child who had made a mistake and was afraid to face it.
Xiao Chen moved his feet, blocking Nan Qianyue's view. "Don't blame him. I told him to say that to you."
The southward migration brought a moment of weariness to her heart. What could she say? Saying more would only make her seem like a bad person.
"Say what you have to say quickly," she said expressionlessly.
A flicker of pain crossed Xiao Chen's eyes, but he quickly masked it with a smile. "Nan Nan, do you want to hug her?"
He handed the baby to Nanqianyue.
Nanqianyue looked impatient, but when she met the baby's clean and clear eyes, her expression softened involuntarily.
"I won't hug you," she coldly refused.
Xiao Chen said patiently, "It's okay, I'll teach you. First, hold her head and neck."
"I don't..." Before Nan Qianyue could finish speaking, the baby had already been forcibly stuffed into her arms.
Her arms were bent stiffly, and she dared not move them, for fear of accidentally hurting the soft baby.
The baby stared intently at the southward-migrating moon with its pair of dark, grape-like eyes.
The two, one big and one small, stared at each other, creating an awkward scene.
Xiao Chen looked at her amusedly, and adjusted her wrist by squeezing it. "Don't be afraid, she's very well-behaved."
Nanqianyue looked awkward, but her heart was soft.
"My lord, Miss Nan, the meal is ready." Ye Jian, wearing an apron, carried a table under the banyan tree, then turned and went into the kitchen.
Xiao Chen gently tugged at Nan Qianyue's sleeve, "Nan Nan, try Ye Jian's cooking."
Nanqianyue said coldly, "I've already eaten. If you have nothing else to say, I'll be leaving."
Xiao Chen's inner pain resurfaced in his eyes, and even though he forced a smile, he couldn't hide it. "Just consider it as having a meal with Grandpa, Grandma, and the kids, okay?"
The old lady, carrying a bowl and chopsticks, waved warmly to Nan Qianyue, "Child, that young man has been busy all morning, please have some."
"Yes, child, we old folks are dirty, we won't sit at the table," the old man said with a smile.
Nan Qianyue frowned slightly, "I didn't look down on you."
After saying that, she held the baby and walked silently to the table to sit down.
The two women in green and red exchanged a glance and followed closely behind Nan Qianyue, standing like two cold and ruthless iron stakes behind her.
Xiao Chen sat down next to Nan Qianyue. Three playful children ran over. He took care of two of them, one on each side, and placed the third next to Nan Qianyue.
Southward Migration Month: "..."
Ye Jian brought the last dish to the table, saying, "The dishes are all ready. Please enjoy your meal, my lord and Miss Nan."
Xiao Chen raised his hand to gesture to the two elderly people, "Please sit down."
The two elderly people nodded repeatedly and sat down very awkwardly.
Nanqianyue looked at Ahe, who was hiding, and asked, "Aren't you coming to eat?"
Ah He shook his head sheepishly, "...I'm not hungry."
Glug~~~~
He had just said he wasn't hungry when his stomach started growling.
Nanqianyue looked helpless. "Come and eat, I'm not angry with you."
Ah He's toes twitched unnaturally as he cautiously moved closer.
At the same time, Ye Jian pushed two elderly people in wheelchairs over, and in no time, the area around the table was full of people.
Xiao Chen took the baby from Ahe's arms. "You eat it."
Ah He nodded gratefully and shakily picked up his chopsticks.
Xiao Chen looked at Nan Qianyue with a gentle expression, "Nan Nan, do you still remember when we were in the wooden house..."
“I don’t remember,” Nan Qianyue interrupted coldly. “There’s no need to bring up the past.”
The light in Xiao Chen's eyes faded, and he lowered his gaze dejectedly. "Have you really let go...?"
Nanqianyue's attitude was cold and resolute: "I have never missed it, so how can I let it go? You should stop thinking about it to avoid causing yourself unnecessary trouble."
The atmosphere suddenly froze, creating a sense of unease among the people.
"I want to eat fish." A child's innocent voice broke the awkward atmosphere.
Nanqianyue turned to look at the timid-looking little girl and instructed the girl in red, "Feed her."
The woman in red, her face cold, replied "Yes," and bent down to pick up the little girl. But the little girl burst into tears, crying, "Waaah! I don't want you!"
