The old, battered iron door flung open, letting in the clamor of the house. "Hurry up." "I accept the loss." These were the commonplace words, the mechanical retelling lacking much of the rawness and sass of the original.

Shi Youchen held Li Sen's hand and stood outside the door, watching the middle-aged woman open the door.
