When the powerful Ming Zhuo woke up, she found herself an abandoned orphan about to be publicly disowned by a wealthy family on a show. Someone told her that her biological mother was a delicate mo...
Gu Xu walked into the grove of trees and then stopped.
Although he couldn't see anything, he could sense an unusual atmosphere here, a feeling like being buried in the earth, decaying and damp.
Something seemed to be attacking from the darkness. Gu Xu picked up the bronze mirror and looked at it, then saw a ghostly hand almost reaching out in front of him.
But then the thing let out a shriek, and half of the arm was melted away.
The ghost raised its head, looked at him through the bronze mirror, and revealed a sinister smile.
So you saw it? Well then, you can just die!
In an instant, countless ghostly hands stretched out from all around, frantically reaching towards him, trying to snap his neck and tear him to pieces!
But the ghostly hand reached out quickly and dissolved just as fast, soon crumbling away inch by inch.
Gu Xu remained unmoved, coldly watching those things reach out their hands again and again with a ferocious and venomous expression.
After a moment, he spoke: "If this is all you've got, you can't possibly kill me."
A slight ripple came from the darkness. Gu Xu looked up and found that he could see the thing without the help of the bronze mirror.
The ghost was filled with intense resentment, its skin was torn open, and it was covered in blood, indicating that it had suffered greatly before its death.
When those resentful energies flow down, any living person who gets touched by them will either fall seriously ill or, in severe cases, lose their life.
Although Gu Xu couldn't see any resentment, he instinctively felt uncomfortable.
He didn't want to use the talismans Mingzhuo had given him, so he bit his finger and smeared the blood on the bronze mirror.
The dull bronze mirror suddenly shone brightly, illuminating the ghost, which immediately let out a miserable scream.
It seemed to be completely enraged, manipulating the other ghosts to tear them apart and devour them.
There were countless ghosts nearby. Soon, the ghost's body swelled up as if it were being inflated, its strength clearly increasing dramatically. The yin energy and resentment at its fingertips transformed into a knife.
It glared venomously at Gu Xu, then swung its blade, intending to kill him.
The blade was rather long. As it sliced through the trees beside it, a branch as thick as a wrist snapped instantly, black smoke billowing from the broken end. Soon, half of the broken end withered away.
This yin energy and resentment are incredibly powerful. If a person is scratched, their skin and flesh will likely be eroded, their life force drained, and they will wither and die.
Gu Xu dared not be careless and quickly retreated, but how could he be faster than the knife?
Just as the blade was about to fall, a sword light suddenly emerged from Gu Xu's body, severing the blade formed from condensed resentment.
Gu Xu was stunned. He hadn't expected that Ming Zhuo had hidden a sword aura on him.
The ghost was stunned. It had eaten those ghosts to forcibly increase its strength in order to kill Gu Xu, but it still failed.
It suffered a backlash; it couldn't fully digest what it had eaten in a short time and vomited it up, causing its body to shrink considerably.
Without further hesitation, he took out a ghost-repelling talisman and threw it over. This was a high-level ghost-repelling talisman drawn by Ming Zhuo, and it was incredibly powerful. Soon, the ghost screamed and disappeared.
The grove fell silent, with only the rustling of leaves overhead.
But Gu Xu knew that there was always a pair of eyes watching him in the darkness.
Gu Xu: "Aren't you going to come out and see me?"
A crow flew over and landed on a branch. A completely black shadow emerged from behind a nearby tree, only its eyes visible as it stared at him.
That look in his eyes was filled with resentment and unwillingness.
"Why wasn't it you who died?" The shadowy figure uttered a strange tone from its throat.
Gu Xu felt no emotion, and simply asked, "How did A-Zhi die?"
"How did he die? He did it all to protect you! How could the Holy Child not complete the sacrificial ritual? He couldn't inherit all the power, so he failed the trial! I restrained his soul, but he secretly ran away, and even perished in the wilderness of the River of Three Crossings to save a mortal!" the shadowy figure said venomously.
Gu Xu thought to himself, "Just as I thought. But if you kill me, can you bring A-Zhi back to life?"
The shadowy figure immediately became excited, "Of course! You are twins, and with one of you gaining strength, the other loses strength. As long as you die, I can use a secret technique to revive A-Zhi!"
Gu Xu's eyes were clear: "But you should need my flesh and blood more."
The shadowy figure fell silent, staring coldly at him.
Gu Xu: "You don't need to test me anymore. If you're just sending these things, they won't be able to kill me at all."
"Don't worry, once I've prepared the ritual, I'll personally kill you, take your heart's blood, and rip out your flesh." The shadowy figure spoke with resentment and bitterness. "A-Zhi protected you so much, even willing to die herself. Didn't you feel anything?"
She knew it; her eldest son had no heart!
Just as annoying as he was when he was a child, the little child's eyes were so calm and rational, as if he couldn't see her pain and struggle, yet as if he could see all the darkness in her heart.
She tried her best to force herself, but she couldn't bring herself to like the child.
The shadowy figure stepped forward, its voice seductive, "Don't you want Ah Zhi to come back to life? He was so gentle, so good to you, when you were little..."
Gu Xu's gaze remained unchanged. "You don't need to say so much. I will help you rescue A-Zhi, but the condition is that you behave yourself and stop harassing the Gu family."
"Are you really willing to sacrifice yourself?" the shadowy figure asked suspiciously, but seeing Gu Xu's calm and composed expression, he immediately believed her.
This child is bad at everything, except for one thing: he never lies.
The shadowy figure was overjoyed. "Good boy, it wasn't for nothing that A-Zhi treated you so well. Don't worry, I will let you live and share a body with A-Zhi, so that you two brothers will never be separated. By the way, when you come, you must come alone and not bring anyone else."
