Having served the Empire for half of his life, Ela was decisively sold out. He intended to flee to another country but was nearly beaten to death during his escape before being saved by a dragon-gi...
“I’m not angry… I’m even wondering what kind of image I have in your hearts.”
Ira reluctantly placed his hand on the blade pressed against his neck.
"I hope you have a good idea of exactly how many monsters you've killed..."
"..."
For some reason, Ira felt that the voice sounded familiar. He looked away from the Dark Knight and the giant insectoid towards the direction from which the voice came, and then saw a pale-skinned woman wearing a wizard's hat.
“Vera…”
Ira called out her name, and he frowned, unsure of what to say.
"Miss Vera, do you know Mr. Ira?"
As he spoke, Satan Ye emerged from behind Ira, waved his hand, and signaled the monster leaders to put away their weapons.
"She is a traitor to the empire."
Ira said this.
“Ira and I were colleagues for ten years.”
But Vera gave a different account.
“Lich…you said you came from the Empire, but you never mentioned that you held a high position in the Empire.”
These words came from a giant insectoid whose body was covered in an exoskeleton that resembled armor. His small, reflective black eyes stared at his colleague named Vera, looking at this lich who had been with him for decades with suspicion.
"Not a high position..."
Vera said it so simply.
"She was a court mage, Isabella's magic teacher, but she chose to become a lich."
And Iraq was undermining them.
"..."
Although it seemed like a joyful atmosphere, it had unknowingly become extremely tense. Although the leaders had put down their blades, a sharp knife remained in their hearts.
It's not that they don't want to let go of their hostility, but that they dare not.
"So, it was the Demon King who released you? So that you could take revenge on the Empire?"
Vera's forehead was covered in cold sweat. Although she didn't understand the "Consul" very well, there was no doubt that Satan's Mana was flowing through her body, which was not a good sign.
It was either stolen by Iraq or given to it by Satan... the former is more likely.
"Or have you decided to join us? Isn't the Demon Lord adorable? I remember you're a lolicon?"
Ira immediately shook her head decisively at Vera's rambling nonsense, saying, "What nonsense are you talking about? I did not betray the Empire like you, but was betrayed by the Empire... I am going to Silvermoon Tree Garden later."
This is the best option Ira can think of right now. Although the elves of the Silvermoon Tree Garden don't have a good relationship with the Empire, they have a pretty good personal relationship with Ira.
If you were to seek refuge there, there would obviously be no problem.
"Betray the Empire? Ira, you really dare to say that... Didn't I originally intend to hide my transformation into a lich and work properly for the Empire?"
Vera, who looked young and beautiful, said with a sigh, "I was betrayed by the Empire too. Why can't the Empire tolerate liches? Just like the Empire can't tolerate you."
"..."
These words silenced Iraqi officials.
The empire could not tolerate its inhabitants transforming into monsters; this was the very foundation of the nation. Vera was undoubtedly engaging in sophistry, but at this moment, he couldn't think of any rebuttal... nor could he find any point in refuting it.
"I'm leaving... Anyway, thank you for your help, Demon Lord."
After this brief expression of gratitude, Ira softly chanted in the hall of the Demon King's castle: "First Wing Pillar - Crimson Dragon - Wingspan".
Accompanied by a calm chant, crimson wings appeared behind Ira as he looked out at the starry sky under the watchful eyes of all the monsters in the hall.
It was a beautiful scene. Mana transformed into shimmering light, forming the bones of wings from her spine, which then quickly filled in and took shape. The illusory wings, accompanied by a gentle fan, scattered specks of crimson dust.
On the battlefield, such chants are often accompanied by slaughter and death, so no one has any intention of appreciating them... They only bring fear, and bury that fear deep in the hearts of every monster that has witnessed the massacre.
"Wait, Mr. Ira, you've been unconscious for three days. Haven't you felt hungry? The Demon King ordered a banquet earlier..."
The succubus named Shilina spoke up to stop Ira from taking off, but he didn't care about the dinner party or not, even though he was indeed a little hungry.
I probably won't care...
...
I'm so hungry, I want to eat something.
Somewhat embarrassed, Ira stopped taking off. His scarlet wings folded behind him and returned to his body. He turned to look at the bewildered monsters and said, "Thank you for your help... Consider it a favor I owe you."
"..."
Vera: By the way, the idea of "eating with utmost care and refinement" was proposed by Ira.
————Dining area dividing line————
The banquet at the Demon King's castle... was a grand feast devoid of any demonic aura.
Each monster leader would normally go to their own area to eat and do some work, so usually only the Demon King's lineage, the butler, and the maids would handle matters related to the banquet.
It was more like a family gathering than a banquet... especially with all the leaders staying behind. Otherwise, if only Ira and Satan were eating, it would have been more like a candlelight dinner than a meal.
"The salad you chose wasn't fresh enough, and the apples were too sour. What do you think?"
Ira commented on Sarah in this way, and the insectoid being he asked could only nod in agreement.
Because Iraq is right.
