Chapter 6, Director Yan
No sooner had he finished speaking than a burst of flame shot directly from outside the aircraft toward Shu Zhijing.
The woman glanced at it lightly, and the docile fire elemental energy in the air seemed to be encouraged by something, eagerly rushing towards the incoming flames.
The flames were extinguished in an instant, and a golden crow fell from the flames, transforming into a young man as soon as it landed.
She had red hair and golden eyes, with a few strands of white highlights. She wore six or seven different earrings and a short-sleeved shirt covered in unintelligible symbols.
His face flushed with anger. "Shu Zhijing! Zhu Ri City is Jinwu's territory. Tell your people to get out of Zhu Ri City!"
Di Nanzhe raised his hand to unleash a fire spell, but was instead hit in the face by his own spell.
"What is that?" He was a Golden Crow in human form, and had an innate affinity for fire. This was the first time he had been burned by fire. The entire Golden Crow was in a bad mood and jumped around at the entrance of the aircraft, trying to extinguish the fire physically.
Emperor Shangming followed behind Emperor Nanzhe and twitched his lips when he saw his nephew's foolish behavior.
He looked at the woman. Was she the new director of the Bureau of Extraordinary Affairs? A completely unfamiliar face.
The woman looked back at him coldly when she saw him.
"Nan Zhe is still young and doesn't understand much," Emperor Ming reluctantly explained, "What should I call him?"
“My surname is Yan,” the woman replied coldly.
She seemed to have merely given a casual lesson to the arrogant and disrespectful junior who dared to challenge the authority of the Bureau of Extraterrestrial Affairs. The lesson was just right; the Golden Crow, born under the blazing sun, would not be burned to death, but being countered by her own magic was an absolute humiliation for the young and proud Di Nanzhe.
All directors of the Bureau of Extraordinary Affairs have been directly appointed by the Heavenly Mandate Platform, whose selection criteria have always been shrouded in mystery and difficult to fathom. The term of office for each director is also unpredictable.
However, based on the few emperors that Emperor Shangming knew, they were all super powerful figures in the inner world.
Moreover, most of them became famous at a young age.
Sure enough, his heart sank. This Director Yan's control over spirits had reached a terrifying level; he could even directly reverse the control of spiritual power when he was secretly helping Di Nanzhe to guide the spirit.
Di Shangming was still somewhat puzzled. These powerful figures were all young prodigies; they couldn't possibly have been unknown in their youth. How come he had never heard of this Director Yan before? Had the information network in Zhuri City become so outdated?
Or was this something that the Heavenly Mandate Platform found somewhere out of nowhere?
---
What a trendy guy.
Yan Shi was a little socially anxious.
Help! Help! What should I say?
Ever since the blazing sun crown transformed into a bracelet and was put on, Yan Shi felt as if he could sense the emotions of the fire elemental energy in the air.
The fire elementalist from Zhuricheng had a lively and enthusiastic personality, and had been taking the initiative to greet her.
When Di Nanzhe flew in as a golden crow carrying flames, the fire elemental energy beside him was violent and angry.
Feeling challenged, the blazing sun crown commanded the fire elemental energy in the air in a deafening voice, "Go teach them a lesson!"
Then the southern part of the palace caught fire.
Yan Shi was stunned.
If the Golden Crow camp were burned, especially in front of the other party's parents, wouldn't she get beaten up?
This is her first time traveling to the Otherworld alone on a business trip. If a fight breaks out, would it be considered a work-related injury?
The unfamiliar Jinwu, who seemed to be a parent, looked at her sharply and asked, "What's your name?"
Yan Shi replied somewhat guiltily, "My surname is Yan."
He's so fierce, I'm scared.
That voice sounds so familiar... wait, that sounds like the Golden Crow who made those incredibly powerful moves during the fight just now.
The crown of blazing sun is now on her wrist.
Yan Shi felt even more guilty.
She changed the subject, saying, "Chunqiu has already reported what happened to me."
"We hope that Jinwu can give the Bureau of Foreign Affairs a reasonable explanation regarding the black market."
"We were just about to report to the Bureau of Extraordinary Affairs that at noon today, a group of bandits broke into Sunrise City and stole its most precious treasure. I led a fierce battle, but ultimately we couldn't hold it back," Emperor Shangming said, trying to briefly mention the black market. "We hope the Bureau of Extraordinary Affairs can assist Sunrise City in tracking down these thieves."
"The Crown of Blazing Sun wasn't originally part of the Golden Crow, was it?" He heard Director Yan chuckle softly.
As expected of someone directly appointed by the Bureau of Destiny, she seems to know everything.
The Golden Crow ultimately couldn't obtain the crown of the blazing sun. Emperor Ming sighed inwardly, "The Golden Crow clan paid the price with three Sun-Chasing Arrows." He lowered his stance, after all, the Golden Crow were also victims in this matter.
The ancient golden crow prototype spread its wings and flew in the sky, resembling the real sun. The Sun-Chasing Arrow was the arrow stuck in the body of the golden crow that Hou Yi shot down when it fell.
That's quite a grand gesture.
No wonder Di Shangming was so angry during the fight.
"The Bureau of Extraordinary Management will not continue its investigation. But this place that collapsed today seems perfect for establishing the Bureau of Extraordinary Management's Sun Chasing City branch. What do you think, Golden Crow?"
“It is indeed very suitable.” Emperor Ming replied with a forced smile. “Director Yan must have other matters to attend to, so I will not disturb him any longer.”
He picked up Di Nanzhe, who was still struggling to put out the fire by the door, nodded to Xiang Yanshi, and left without looking at anyone else.
"Hahaha, it's rare to see Di Shangming get his comeuppance," Bai Zhai laughed loudly as soon as Di Shangming left. "I've disliked the Golden Crows for a long time; they all look like they have eyes on the top of their heads."
“Director Yan,” he patted the tiger cub, “this is the most talented cub in our clan in a hundred years. Its awakened ability is spatial teleportation.”
"Quickly call for help," Bai Zhai said in a low voice, pinching the tiger cub's nape.
Although he was a carefree tiger, Bai Zhai was still a beast who had lived for hundreds of years, and he had his own considerations. It wasn't a big problem for the tiger cub to have created a hole in the world barrier to the outer world due to its talent, and then bring an ordinary person back to the inner world. It was understandable that a cub couldn't control its abilities.
The biggest problem is that he and Lin Cai escaped from prison after their arrest.
Tiger Cub was the main culprit in the prison break, and if the Bureau of Extraordinary Affairs really got down to business, Tiger Cub wouldn't escape. Originally, Bai Zhai was thinking of playing it by ear, and if things got really bad, he'd fight it out.
As it turned out, the newly appointed Director Yan of the Bureau of Extraordinary Affairs was even more unfathomable than he had anticipated.
So Bai Zhai decided to try appealing to emotions first.
Director Yan seemed to see through his little scheme. "No need to be nervous," she said. "The prison break was not their own doing."
"What!" Bai Zhai was truly shocked. He glared at the tiger cub. What a brat! He didn't tell him the truth about something so important?
The tiger cub's eyes darted around, refusing to look at Bai Zhai.
Shu Zhijing was also somewhat shocked. "Director, do we need to access the surveillance footage of Cero City now and extract the physical characteristics of the prison breakers frame by frame?"
“No need, and it’s not some reactionary organization,” Yan Shi said, noticing Shu Zhijing’s worry. “I know who it is.”
"There are no loopholes in the rules of the Bureau of Extraordinary Management prison. This matter ends here." Yan Shi seemed unwilling to say more, then looked at Lin Cai and asked, "Lin Cai, would you like to transfer to Zhan Zhou?"
