After Being Dumped, I Turned Around and Married a Demolition Household

Gu Yueji, who was so poor she had to stream for over ten hours a day to sell goods and pay off debts, felt sorry for the delivery driver whose shoes were worn out and clothes were old, only able to...

Chapter 29 Happy Wedding

The simple, steaming two dishes and a soup on the table warmed Gu Yueji's heart.

Ren Jin came out of the kitchen, carrying a bottle of Moutai and two glasses. "Let's have a drink tonight."

Looking at the table of home-cooked dishes paired with this white wine, Gu Yueji couldn't help but complain, "Our wedding is like a brotherhood ceremony."

Ren Jin laughed and said, "It's alright, as long as I know you're my wife in bed, that's enough."

Gu Yueji kicked him under the table.

Ren Jin laughed even harder, poured two glasses of wine, and handed one to Gu Yueji, saying, "Congratulations on our successful partnership and legal cohabitation."

Gu Yueji smiled and accepted the wine glass. "Please take good care of me as my partner in the future."

"Don't worry, I will make sure you never go hungry, as long as I have food to eat."

The two men clinked glasses and, just like brothers, downed their drinks in one gulp.

The food tasted just as Ren Jin had said; his cooking skills weren't very good. Gu Yueji thought to herself, "So it wasn't that he was too lazy to cook for me before; he really wasn't very good at it." But since this was the first time he had cooked for her, she still tried her best to eat more.

After finishing his meal, Ren Jin wiped his mouth with a tissue, then seemed to suddenly remember something. He got up, went to the living room, and returned with a card in his hand, handing it to her.

"There's 500,000 yuan in this card; it's my betrothal gift to you. Keep it and spend it however you like."

Gu Yueji was stunned.

She has a bad relationship with her family, and she has no intention of telling them about her marriage. Therefore, she does not need a bride price to repay her parents, nor does she need Ren Jin to use a bride price to show his so-called attitude.

Moreover, she believes that marriage means the two of them working together to build a home and contributing to its development, rather than Ren Jin unilaterally earning money for her to spend.

Seeing that she wouldn't take it, Ren Jin simply placed the card in her hand, saying, "If there's nothing you want to buy, use this money to pay off your debts."

Gu Yueji was taken aback again, recalling how angry he had been when he found out she was paying off Ye Zurong's debts, and how he had said he wasn't a terrible person.

She didn't know if he was so angry because he minded her poor financial situation and debts, or simply because he was jealous of Ye Zurong.

So I deliberately asked him, "Are you willing to be a great victim now?"

Ren Jin gritted his teeth, glancing at her with a resentful and bitter look. "I only want to be my wife's bastard son."

Gu Yueji felt a sweet warmth in her heart, for his tolerance and love after calling her "wife".

She placed the card back in front of him, saying, "I've accepted your betrothal gifts; this is my return dowry to you."

Ren Jin looked at her in surprise.

He gave Gu Yueji a betrothal gift because he knew she had no family to ask for it on her behalf. He couldn't let Gu Yueji have what others had, because she was the person he seriously wanted to marry and spend his life with.

He meant it when he said she could spend the money however she wanted, including using it to pay off debts.

He used to mind that she was paying off her ex-boyfriend's debts, but now that she's his wife, he doesn't care anymore and just wants them to have a good life.

"This 500,000 yuan isn't a burden for me. Take it and pay off your debts as soon as possible. Don't try to tough it out."

Gu Yueji didn't know exactly how much money Ren Jin had, but it didn't matter, since they both had the ability to earn money. "I'm not trying to tough it out. I expect to pay off my debt in two or three months. I want to handle it myself."

Not wanting him to still harbor resentment, she wanted to explain things she hadn't been willing to talk about before. "Now I'll just consider this debt a lesson from my own entrepreneurial experience, whether it's business experience or the ability to judge people. I'll just consider it tuition. Now I treat the live-streaming store as my career, and in the future, I only want to run it and our family business well."

"So please don't be angry, okay?" She held his hand, her voice sweet and ingratiating.

She had a pair of bright, expressive eyes, and as she gazed at him intently, his clear image was reflected in the pool of water.

Ren Jin considers himself a chauvinist, and it's impossible for him to say that he doesn't mind at all about helping his wife pay off her ex-boyfriend's debts, but her explanation and coquettishness do make him feel better.

He pinched her chin, leaned down, and gave her a tender kiss.

After kissing Ren Jin, he offered to wash the dishes, but Gu Yueji stopped him and pushed him to take a shower instead.

Ren Jin asked jokingly, "Are you in such a hurry for me to take a shower? Can't you wait?"

Gu Yueji glared at him speechlessly, not wanting to pay him any attention. The kitchen looked like it had been through a war, and he wasn't good at cleaning. To avoid having to clean it all over again tomorrow, she had no choice but to wash the dishes herself.

Ren Jin went to get his clothes to take a shower in a good mood. When he opened the wardrobe and saw that it was neatly filled with clothes, he paused, then couldn't help but smile.

No one had ever helped him organize his wardrobe before, and now his heart felt like that wardrobe, neatly arranged.

He hadn't hesitated for a moment since deciding to marry her last night.

He had no reason to believe that if he married her, they would definitely have a good life together, and he would definitely live better than when he was alone.

When he went to the bathroom, he saw two sets of cups and toothbrushes, one black and one white, on the sink, and two new towels side by side on the wall. Looking back at himself in the mirror, which was completely dry, his smile widened and he became even more determined in his decision.

After taking a shower, he saw Gu Yueji mopping the living room floor. He walked straight over and snatched the mop away, saying, "Go take a shower, I'll mop."

Gu Yueji held onto the mop tightly, saying, "I'm almost done mopping."

“I’ll do the mopping,” Ren Jin said bluntly when she still insisted. “Or do you want me to just throw you on the bed after you’re done? Have you forgotten what we’re supposed to do tonight?”
