Synopsis - Plot Version:
Just drifting through life at her office job, a certain fish on the line...
She was inexplicably kidnapped.
All because she had a heart that matched a maf...
"Yes!" he answered obediently.
Gan Tang smiled and coaxed gently, "Then after we leave here, I'll go with you to see him, okay?"
As soon as the words left her mouth, she realized how inappropriate they were. What was she doing following them to their in-laws' house? Gan Tang glanced sideways at the man beside her; his bright eyes only made her already panicked heart race even further.
She got up to leave, but was unexpectedly pulled into Mo Huaixing's arms.
"Okay!" His voice was no longer as sad as before, but carried a hint of lighthearted excitement.
Gan Tang was also pleased to hear this, and reminded him, "Mo Huaixing, is it inappropriate for you to be hugging me like this?"
“Walls have ears, this is the most convenient way to talk.” Mo Huaixing rarely acted like a rogue.
"Convenient my foot." Gan Tang punched him in the chest, then quickly stood up. What came into view was half of his cheek that had been hit.
"What happened?"
As Gan Tang asked, she took out her phone from her bag and called Jin Hu, asking him to buy ice and medicine.
"It's nothing!" Mo Huaixing shook his head. How could that mole be the teacher? He was the approver of this operation. Thinking of this, he couldn't help but smile. "I've just been overthinking things these past few days."
"Then how did he hit you?" Gan Tang got angry looking at the red and swollen marks on his face. "Even if you can't hit him, you can't just let him hit you. Can't you dodge?"
"It's nothing!" Mo Huaixing looked at Gan Tang, frowning in confusion: "I told you not to associate with Fang Heng, so how come you're hanging out with him again?"
"Who are you to me? Why should I listen to you?" Gan Tang retorted confidently, and said sarcastically, "Back then, Chu Jiahe told me to stay away from you, but I didn't listen."
"Oh!" Mo Huaixing nodded obediently, as if he had thought of something.
A knock came at the door.
Jin Hu bought a large bag of medicine and several ice packs. Gan Tang carried them back and saw Mo Huaixing still sitting on the ground. She sat down by the bed and took out ice to apply to his skin.
Mo Huaixing groaned comfortably and rested his head directly on Gan Tang's lap.
Seeing that he was injured, Gan Tang didn't hold it against him and gently applied a cold compress. Looking closely at the wounds on his face, Gan Tang felt even more distressed, "How could he hurt you so badly? What did you do to offend him?"
“It has nothing to do with him.” Mo Huaixing explained, “This trip went relatively smoothly. We’ve pretty much figured out Pang’s drug trafficking routes. I plan to wait until Pang goes in, then take control of the routes that the police missed, and also get hold of the routes of other small drug trafficking gangs in Canglan. That way, I can control all the profits from drug trafficking in Canglan.”
Even though there was no one else in the room, he still spoke so cautiously. He wasn't after profits; he clearly wanted to control the entire network and seize control of it all.
But in doing so, he would become the public enemy of all drug dealers in Canglan.
Gan Tang gasped. As expected, he was ruthless. No wonder Fang Heng was so worried about him.
"It's not that easy, is it?"
“Use Ponzi schemes to establish authority, and then use enough drugs to suppress those small drug trafficking gangs from shipping. They won’t be able to hold out, and they will naturally come to me. Although it’s difficult, as long as Mr. Fu gives me enough money to support me, I can definitely make it happen.”
Mo Huaixing looked at Gan Tang with burning eyes: "As long as we succeed, the drug trafficking gangs on the Canglan land can be eradicated completely. Anyone who wants to traffic drugs again will not be able to establish a complete drug trafficking network in less than ten or twenty years."
For him, there was another personal motive. The drug trafficking route he currently controlled was too slow, with shipments arriving every one or two months. Only by becoming more active could they quickly uncover the mole. He didn't want to hear his father say that the teacher was a suspect again.
Thinking of Fu Cheng's reaction, Gan Tang asked, "Mr. Fu agreed?"
“Yes! He wants to be the leader of the underworld martial arts alliance, so he will definitely agree.” At this point, Mo Huaixing smiled bitterly: “After I came back, I went to see Mr. Fu, and I didn’t expect my elder brother to be there as well.”
"Big Brother doesn't like drug trafficking, but he didn't stop you from taking it over because of his own preferences. He understands your dependence on others and is willing to support your ambitions. He even helped you consolidate your position in the Green Dragon Gang. No matter what your reasons are, in his eyes now you are a villain who completely disregards brotherhood in order to climb the ranks. He has completely blocked his hopes and all the efforts he has made this past year."
Gan Tang put down the ice and applied ointment to his wound, sighing, "He deserved to be hit. If it were me, I probably would have stabbed you to death. I guess I was blind all these years and raised an ungrateful wretch."
"How could we possibly be brothers? It's all just wishful thinking on his part." Mo Huaixing coldly mocked himself: "It's good that he saw through me sooner."
In order to avoid future armed conflict, can you bring yourself to do it?
But now, Fu Cheng is the only person who will help him, and he doesn't want him anymore?
So now, would he rather have one more enemy than deceive Fu Cheng again?
Gan Tang felt that he was not a good undercover agent, at least not in his dealings with Fu Cheng.
After applying the medicine, Gan Tang held up her wrist, adorned with a Bodhi seed bracelet, to Mo Huaixing and asked, "Does it look good?"
"It's already faded." Mo Huaixing laughed. "You're tired of wearing designer brands, where did you find this fake?"
“How is it fake? It’s a genuine Bodhi seed bracelet, just coated with a layer of black lacquer.” Gan Tang took his hand, slipped it from hers to his, and asked, “Do you think it looks like you?”
"Like me?" Mo Huaixing was speechless.
"Yes!" Gan Tang nodded. "I found this at a street stall near the entrance of Puji Temple. The stall owner said he'd been trying to sell it there for ten years without success, so I bought it. How about I give it to you?"
"Nobody wants it, and you're giving it to me?" Mo Huaixing asked, displeased. But he still touched the bracelet that still held her warmth, his heart fluttering slightly.
“That’s because they don’t know its value.” Gan Tang sat down on the ground, leaned on his shoulder, and lifted the faded Bodhi on his wrist, patiently explaining, “It has been quietly waiting in front of the Buddhist temple for ten years. During these ten years, it can hear the sincere wishes of every soul that comes up the mountain to pray. You can listen if you don’t believe me.”
Gan Tang placed his hand, which was adorned with the bracelet, near his ear.
"No way!" Mo Huaixing really didn't want to play along with her childish behavior.
"Yes." Gan Tang stubbornly pushed his uncooperative hand up again.
The warm fingertips pressed on his pulse, bringing a strange sense of peace. Mo Huaixing closed his eyes, listened intently for a while, and nodded, "It seems like I can hear it."
Gan Tang smiled, placed his hands on her lap, clasped them tightly, and said solemnly, "Mo Huaixing, this isn't the only thing you've done in your life. There are many injustices in this world, and many simple and beautiful wishes that go unfulfilled. You are a police officer, so you have a responsibility to help them achieve their goals."
Therefore, you cannot die.
With bright eyes and white teeth, her gaze was filled with warmth; at that moment, she only had eyes for him, like the warm sun filling his heart.
"Is your wish among these?" he asked.
