Synopsis - Plot Version:
Just drifting through life at her office job, a certain fish on the line...
She was inexplicably kidnapped.
All because she had a heart that matched a maf...
Having not seen Lin Shuang for two months, and not knowing if Fu Cheng was still bothering her, Gan Tang was worried about being scolded if she called. So she picked out a bunch of sunflowers to cool her down at the flower shop and also bought a limited edition necklace as an apology.
Upon arriving at Lin Shuang's building, Gan Tang parked her car and plugged the adapter into her phone to check the contents of the USB drive Fang Heng had given her.
Not long after, Lin Shuang's car drove out of the residential area, and Gan Tang put down her phone and followed.
Less than a kilometer west of Jinhai University lies the university's staff housing complex. Lin Shuang parked her car outside the complex, carrying a cake in one hand and gifts in the other as she went inside.
She was dressed simply. Reaching the second floor, she removed her mask and sunglasses, revealing a stunningly beautiful face, her expression slightly tense. Lin Shuang knocked on the door, but received no response, so she waited at the entrance.
Not long after, a couple wearing old-fashioned glasses walked up to the second floor hand in hand.
"Dad, Mom!"
The couple, who had been all smiles, suddenly turned cold.
"Who sent you?"
Lin Shuang smiled and picked up the cake: "Dad, it's your birthday today, so I specially ordered a sugar-free cake."
Professor Lin said angrily, "I don't have a daughter like you. Get out of my way."
"Mom!" Lin Shuang looked at the woman beside him again, "Don't you always have back pain? I bought a massager, you can try it. If it doesn't work, I'll buy another one."
Professor Wu even pushed his daughter aside, and while unlocking the door, he said sarcastically, "We can't afford the things that big stars buy."
Lin Shuang slammed her head against the wall and pleaded, "Dad, Mom, I'll just stay with you for a little while to celebrate your birthday, okay?"
"What did we say back then? Either you stop being a lousy celebrity, or you never set foot in my house again."
After Professor Wu entered, Professor Lin finished speaking and also went in.
Seeing that the door was about to close, in a moment of desperation, Lin Shuang reached her hand inside.
"Ah!" Her hand was caught in the door, the extreme pain causing her to spasm instantly, and the things in her hand fell to the ground. Lin Shuang endured the pain, "Mom and Dad, I won't go in, can you take the things in? There are blood pressure medications for Dad inside."
"Don't show up in front of me again and upset me, or my blood pressure won't go up."
Professor Lin kicked the things away, trembling with anger, "Our family has been producing scholars since the Qing Dynasty, how could we have given birth to such a shameless thing like you?"
"Why can't you understand human language, child?" Professor Wu hurriedly pulled her husband into the room, glanced down at her daughter's injured hand, and pushed her out directly. "Hurry up and leave, what will the neighbors think if they see this?"
After saying that, he slammed the door shut.
Lin Shuang staggered backward, tripping over a gift box with a loud bang that startled Gan Tang, who was hiding in the basement.
Not long after, Lin Shuang came downstairs carrying the broken cake, threw it into the trash can, and half of her clothes were stained with cream that she couldn't wipe off no matter how hard she tried.
As Lin Shuang approached the entrance of the residential complex, she hurriedly stepped back and turned around, bumping right into Gan Tang, who had just come out of the building entrance.
What are you doing here?
"I was just passing by!" Gan Tang smiled awkwardly, walked past her and went outside, seeing paparazzi hiding in the shadows outside the residential area. No wonder Lin Shuang went out and then came back out.
Seeing a paparazzi carrying a camera come in, Gan Tang hurriedly ran back and took off her coat to put on Lin Shuang.
"Those two paparazzi outside probably just happened to see your car. They're watching you now. Why don't you take my car?"
Even though she was unwilling, Lin Shuang could only nod.
Gan Tang blocked Lin Shuang, brushed past the paparazzi who walked in, and hurriedly got into the car.
Throughout the journey, Lin Shuang remained as quiet as a stone. To avoid soiling the seats, she sat sideways, her bleeding left hand pressed against her clothes at her waist.
"I'm sorry! I've been a bit busy lately and haven't had time for you," Gan Tang said first. "I didn't mean to follow you. I thought He Zhong was looking for you. I wanted to come along to see if I could help you out."
Lin Shuang's eyelids twitched slightly. "You saw it all."
"I didn't see it!" After all, it was someone else's family matter, and Gan Tang was a little embarrassed: "I only heard a tiny bit."
Silence fell again inside the car.
When they arrived at the apartment building, Lin Shuang pulled her hat down low, said, "I'll wash your clothes and return them to you," and hurriedly got out of the car. Gan Tang saw her bleeding hand, got out of the car, and chased after her.
"I have something to tell you." With that, he got into the elevator with her. The elevator doors opened, and a tall, handsome figure appeared in the corridor.
Lin Shuang wanted to back away, but the man had already turned around and saw her disheveled state.
"How did you get hurt?" Fu Cheng rushed forward and grabbed Lin Shuang's hand. Lin Shuang recoiled in pain. Fu Cheng glanced at Gan Tang beside her and angrily asked, "What did you do to her?"
Lin Shuang shook her head in panic.
Gan Tang is in a bind, what to do? Just accept it.
"When I closed the car door, I accidentally pinched Ms. Lin."
"An accident?" Fu Cheng persisted.
"It was my own carelessness, it has nothing to do with Miss. My house is messy, it's inconvenient for me to entertain President Cheng, please leave." Lin Shuang bowed her head and walked around him to open the door.
Fu Cheng grabbed Gan Tang, who had followed him inside, and asked warily, "What do you want to do?"
"I'll tell you later." Gan Tang shook off his hand and went inside, exclaiming in surprise. Fu Cheng hurriedly went in and saw Fu Shaojie lying asleep on the sofa.
Fu Shaojie heard the sound, sat up groggily, saw a group of people, and was about to speak when he was slapped on the head.
Gan Tang shouted, "I told you to wait at the door, who let you in?"
Fu Shaojie rubbed his head and, surprisingly, didn't retort.
Fu Cheng narrowed his eyes: "How did you get in?"
Gan Tang turned her head to look at Lin Shuang, who was standing there, her legs trembling uncontrollably. She probably inherited it from her parents; they were equally concerned about saving face.
"Miss Lin, I'm so sorry." Gan Tang tried to make up a story. "I saw you open the door that day and I really did accidentally memorize the password. Shao Jie and I had something to discuss with you, and he lived nearby, so he came over first. He knocked on the door but no one answered, so he thought he had the wrong place. I told him to try entering the password, but I didn't expect him to dare to come in and take a nap."
As she spoke, Gan Tang kicked Fu Shaojie and winked at him, "Hurry up and apologize to Miss Lin."
Fu Shaojie stood up and offered a perfunctory apology, but fortunately, Fu Cheng was sensible enough not to ask any further questions. Gan Tang pulled Fu Shaojie away.
Lin Shuang said anxiously, "Miss, didn't you want to see me about something?"
She really didn't dare to be alone with Fu Cheng.
"Our business isn't urgent. Since you have something to attend to, we'll take our leave now and talk about it another day."
As they walked downstairs, Gan Tang let go of Fu Shaojie's arm.
"Thank you, sister."
The sudden question caught Gan Tang off guard. Fu Shaojie asked, puzzled, "Why does Big Brother want to see Lin Shuang?"
