Chapter 49 How could I possibly trouble you?

"Yunbo!"

"What's wrong?" Cao Yunbo placed a piece of meat into Gantang's bowl.

"Delicious!" Gan Tang picked up her bowl and ate. In the end, she was a selfish person and couldn't bear to say the words "break up".

"Eat more if you like it!" Cao Yunbo continued to put food on her plate, and then fed it directly into her mouth.

"Don't move!"

"What's wrong?"

A grain of rice was stuck to Gan Tang's lips. Cao Yunbo touched Gan Tang's face and gently wiped it away, but he didn't pull his hand back. He also cupped Gan Tang's cheek with his other hand.

Gan Tang's delicate face was trapped in his large hands, unable to move at all. He slightly raised his hand and kissed her passionately. He sat on the stool, and she sat on the edge of the bed. With just a gentle pull, he made her fall onto the bed.

Cao Yunbo leaned down and slowly undressed her.

Almost there, almost there, we're about to succeed! I can do it without medication.

A chill ran through her, and Gan Tang quickly pushed Cao Yunbo away, shrinking into the bed to protect her clothes.

Cao Yunbo clenched his fists in anxiety, but he quickly calmed down, knelt up, and looked at Gan Tang with sad eyes: "Yes, I'm just a poor wretch, how could I be qualified to touch you? No matter how much I love you, only a rich kid like Chu Jiahe can touch you."

As he spoke, he buried his head in the bed and burst into tears, “But we had planned to go home for the New Year to meet our parents and then get married.”

Looking at his trembling body, Gan Tang seemed to see her own cowardice reflected in him.

“Yunbo, I’m not, it’s just…” She knelt down and took two steps to hug the man in front of her tightly, comforting him in a trembling voice, “Once I marry him, we can be together.”

As soon as the words left her mouth, Gan Tang realized what she had said. She had shamelessly treated the man in front of her as her lover, a secret lover she couldn't keep in the light of day.

"Yunbo, that's not what I meant!" Gan Tang explained in a panic, but how else could she explain it?

Finally, she knelt weakly on the bed, her face ashen: "Let's break up!"

Why did she suddenly change her expression? Cao Yunbo thought she was angry and hurriedly said, "Tangtang, I just couldn't help myself. I will never do such a thing again."

"I don't blame you."

"Then why?" Seeing that Gan Tang was still keeping her head down and not speaking, Cao Yunbo started to guess wildly: "You've fallen for Chu Jiahe?"

"No, how could I like him? I only like you." For some reason, Gan Tang deliberately added the second half of the sentence, whether to tell Cao Yunbo or to remind herself.

"Then stop talking nonsense!"

"Yunbo, there's no future for us." Gan Tang was filled with guilt. "Lu Zhengqian would never let me marry you. I don't want to hold you back."

"I'm not afraid of being held back. As long as I can see you every day, I'll be content."

"But that's not fair to you!"

"Your love for me is the greatest fairness; I don't want anything else."

Such intense love resonated throughout the room, lingering for a long time. Gan Tang looked at her, pouting with a wronged expression.

"Alright, alright, stop crying!" Cao Yunbo hugged Gan Tang and comforted her, "No matter who you marry in the future, this body of mine will always belong to you. You can use it whenever you want."

He took Gan Tang's hand and placed it in his arms, moving downwards. Gan Tang shyly pulled her hand away, but didn't leave his embrace, clinging tightly to the only warmth before her.

Cao Yunbo sighed inwardly and looked away in annoyance: It seems I really need to use the medicine.

"Tangtang, we're meeting a client next week. He likes playing golf, and our boss wants us to practice so we'll have something in common. Could you come with me to practice this weekend?"

"Maybe I won't be able to get out." Where is my freedom anymore?

"I know, you have to be with Chu Jiahe first!" The tone was full of bitterness and sadness.

Gan Tang couldn't bear to hurt him any further, so she promised, "I'll try my best to find a way out. But do you have the money to go to the golf course?" She didn't want to use Lu Zhengqian's money; she wanted to be with him cleanly and honestly.

“Money is no problem. A friend of mine has a court that’s closed for maintenance on weekends, so we can practice for free.” Cao Yunbo looked at the drawer where the medicine was kept.

Yu Dayong is right. Who would drug someone in broad daylight? Even if she felt something was off outside, she wouldn't suspect she'd been drugged.

The weather was fine on the weekend. Gan Tang racked her brains to come up with a reason to go out. Although Lu Zhengqian wasn't home, she didn't dare to be careless in the slightest.

At eight o'clock in the morning, Gan Tang changed into a gray and pink striped tracksuit, put on some light makeup, and went out looking beautiful.

A low-key black sports car was parked outside the gate.

Gan Tang got into the car, frowning, and said, "Why is it you?"

She clearly asked Yuan Biao to come and pick her up.

Instead of answering, Mo Huaixing asked, "Why have you been deliberately distancing yourself from me lately, Miss?"

"You're overthinking it!" Gan Tang sneered. "You're Mr. Fu's favorite right now, how could I dare to trouble you?"

She doesn't even call him "Dad" anymore. Mo Huaixing didn't know whether to be happy or worried, and smiled, "Didn't the young lady say she would help me back then?"

With that, he drove away.

Seeing his happy expression, Gan Tang felt inexplicably angry: "Who told you to drive? Where is Yuan Biao?"

“He can’t come today!” Mo Huaixing slowed down the car and explained, “He’s Fourth Master’s man, and Mr. Fu doesn’t want Fourth Master to know your whereabouts.”

"Then let's find someone else!"

The deafening sound was especially jarring in the cramped carriage, so Mo Huaixing simply turned on some music. Zhou Shuai's "Rice Flower" began to play softly, its clear and pleasant melody failing to quell Gan Tang's anger.

Seeing that Mo Huaixing wouldn't listen to her, she leaned forward and grabbed the steering wheel.

"What are you doing!" Mo Huaixing slammed on the brakes.

Gan Tang plopped back into the back seat, angrily demanding, "Change drivers!"

"just me."

"Then let's go back!"

Gan Tang casually shouted something, and Mo Huaixing didn't try to persuade her. He simply shifted gears and then symbolically confirmed, "Is Miss sure she wants to go back?"

Thinking of Cao Yunbo's injured yet expectant eyes, Gan Tang gave a muffled hum.

Mo Huaixing continued driving.

Clear clouds, green trees, and mountains flashed past her eyes. Gan Tang looked wearily at the man driving the car and asked, "You've already achieved your goal, why are you still bothering me?"

Mo Huaixing explained, "Mr. Fu asked me to protect Miss's safety until you successfully marry into the Chu Group."

"How could such a small matter trouble you, Master Mo?"

Mo Huaixing corrected, "The eldest young lady's marriage is no small matter; it is a major event concerning the future and destiny of the Lu Group."

"So, you're really being highly valued because you're tied to the future of the Lu Group."

Gantang's words became increasingly sarcastic and ironic.

Mo Huaixing said coldly, "You don't need to mock me like that."

The traffic light turned red, and Mo Huaixing turned to look at Gan Tang, earnestly reminding her, "However, he is also testing me. If I still have even the slightest inappropriate feelings for Miss, that jade pendant will be my death warrant."

It's unclear whether this statement was a reminder to himself or to Gan Tang.
