Xin Sui transmigrated into a cannon fodder character in an apocalyptic novel who wouldn't survive past chapter one. She started with a hellish mode.
The system also instructed her to redu...
[Host, keep it up!]
Xin Sui: "..."
Other systems come with a built-in store, or at least a lottery function. But this one only offers a perfunctory "Good luck"?
Despite her inner grumbling, Xin Sui still subconsciously took action, her eyes scanning the room.
Her eyes lit up when she glanced at a large wooden crate.
The box contained all sorts of treasures belonging to the original owner, most of which were brought back to her by her brother, Li Bate, from his travels.
Beautifully patterned stones, vibrant flowers, and uniquely shaped bones... these are all trinkets.
Although the original owner had a terrible personality, she greatly admired her older brother, Li Bate, and carefully kept all the things he brought back.
Xin Sui recalled that the last gift she received was a bird egg, as big as a basketball!
She opened the box and immediately saw the enormous bird egg.
I picked him up; he felt so heavy.
It's been sitting for several days, it shouldn't be spoiled, right?
Besides the bird eggs, Xin Sui was also pleasantly surprised to find a cluster of flowering sand onions.
Although the wild onions in the post-apocalyptic world were far more robust than she remembered, she took a closer sniff and confirmed that they did indeed smell like wild onions.
With limited resources, Xin Sui didn't bother with anything complicated. He simply opened the crystal furnace and placed the bird eggs on it to roast.
Crystal furnace – a type of furnace powered by crystal nuclei.
It's about the size of a ramen noodle bowl, with a groove at the bottom for installing a crystal core. When the energy of the crystal core is exhausted, you can just replace it.
It's like a post-apocalyptic version of a battery.
The city of Thorns, where the Li family lived, was located in the desert, and the nights were very cold. The original owner would use this stove to warm himself or boil some water.
This is perfect for Xin Sui.
Otherwise, she would have to worry about how to start a fire.
Xin Sui squatted in front of the stove, turning the bird eggs over from time to time to ensure they were heated evenly.
At first it was fine, but after a few minutes the bird eggs became hot to the touch, causing her to hiss and gasp for breath, and she frequently tried to cool them down with her ears.
She found a strip of cloth from the original owner's wardrobe, cut it in two, and wrapped it around her hand to protect it from the damage caused by the eggshell.
On the bed, Xuan Tu closed his eyes again, ignoring all of "Li Xueli's" strange behavior, and quietly waited for the moment he would recover.
After baking for a while, Xin Sui asked, "System, how much time is left for the mission?"
[15 minutes.]
"By the way, when will Xuantu recover?"
[15 minutes later.]
Xin Sui: "!!!"
"So, the moment my mission ends is the moment he recovers?"
[Yes. ]
"Or was it? Why didn't you say so sooner?!"
Xin Sui is going crazy because of it.
It doesn't matter whether the bird eggs are fully cooked or not; they can be eaten half-cooked anyway, and they taste even more tender.
She cracked the top of the baked egg, and a burst of hot air escaped, accompanied by a unique aroma.
Instead of that rotten egg smell.
It seems the egg wasn't spoiled.
As the steam dissipated, she saw that the egg mixture inside had turned into a pudding-like solid, smooth and tender, and looked delicious.
Xin Sui sprinkled the semi-dried shallots on the baked eggs as a seasoning.
It's too hot to hold a baked egg directly in your hands.
She thought for a moment, then turned off the crystal furnace and carried it and the egg on it to the bedside.
She glanced at Xuan Tu and was struck again.
In her previous life, she had worked in the entertainment industry for many years and had become numb to beautiful appearances, feeling that she had lost her sense of aesthetics.
However, now, facing the mysteries of the universe, she realized that it wasn't that her aesthetic sense had become numb, but rather that it had reached a certain threshold.
When she saw someone as good-looking as Xuan Tu, whose appearance far exceeded the threshold, her usually calm adrenaline surged again.
However, recalling his gaze that had previously chilled her to the bone, her confused mind cleared up somewhat.
Take good care of your eyes, Xin Sui!
If you're not careful, it might get dug up and crushed, and it might even burst open!
Xin Sui gently placed the crystal furnace on the bedside table, as if afraid of disturbing something.
"Hey, I made some roasted quail eggs, would you like to try some?"
Unsurprisingly, there was no response.
[Task completion countdown: 12 minutes]
Xin Sui's heart pounded wildly. He gritted his teeth, reached out and helped Xuan Tu sit up against the headboard.
Her unauthorized touch successfully made Xuan Tu open his eyes and turn his gaze to her.
The moment he was stared at, Xin Sui felt a chill run down his spine, every hair on his body stood on end.
Although he was still very weak and harmless at the moment, his eyes gave her an extremely terrifying association.
It was as if the moon overhead had suddenly transformed into the pupil of some enormous creature, then emerged from the clouds and cast its gaze toward her.
The sheer terror of feeling so small, so absurd, made her wish she could just disappear on the spot.
[Task completion countdown: 10 minutes]
The M and D systems are practically killing us!
Xin Sui used the broken eggshell as a spoon to scoop up a spoonful of roasted bird egg and slowly brought it to Xuan Tu's mouth.
Xuan Tu, of course, did not open his mouth.
In his eyes, the woman in front of him was already a corpse.
Xin Sui was both anxious and scared, wishing she could just shove the roasted egg into his mouth.
"System, do you mean make him eat it all?"
Even a bite counts.
"That's alright."
If Xuan Tu were to eat such a large bird egg, her delicate heart probably couldn't take it.
Xin Sui closed his eyes and told himself that there was nothing to be afraid of. He should just treat it as acting and that the big villain in front of him was his good son.
