Chapter 34 Reunion (1/2)

When the plane landed smoothly at Bao'an Airport, the sun was shining through the clouds onto the plane. Ouyang Guang looked at the familiar scenery outside the window, and his fingertips tapped the armrest unconsciously. After seven months, he finally came back.

"Ladies and gentlemen, our plane has arrived at Shenzhen Bao'an International Airport..."

When the broadcast sounded, Ouyang Guang couldn't wait to unbuckle his seat belt.

As soon as the cabin door opened, he was almost the first one to rush out. He dragged his suitcase and walked quickly across the jet bridge. From a distance, he saw that the airport reception area was crowded with people.

Among the crowd, he recognized his parents at a glance - his father was wearing a dark grey windbreaker and holding his younger brother in his arms, while his mother was wearing a dark grey coat and a beige scarf.

The three younger sisters stood in front of them. The eldest sister Chang'an stood on tiptoe to look around, while the twins Changxi and Changle held hands, staring at the exit with shining eyes.

"Dad! Mom!" Ouyang Guang couldn't help shouting and started jogging while dragging the box.

"Xiao Guang!" When his mother saw him, her eyes instantly turned red and she waved at him. His father also smiled and nodded. His two-year-old brother Chang Kang in his arms immediately twisted his little body and called in a baby voice: "Brother! Brother is back!"

Changan was the first to rush over and hug his waist, and the twins Changxi and Changle also jumped up and around him. Ouyangguang squatted down, hugged the three sisters into his arms, and rubbed their heads hard: "I missed you so much! Kangkang has grown so big!"

"That's right. When you were a child, he could just walk, but now he can run and jump." Dad took the suitcase.

"Xiaoguang, you've lost weight." His mother came over and touched his face with her hand, her eyes full of heartache. "Are you used to the food there?"

"It's OK, but I really miss the food at home." Ouyang Guang stood up with a smile, and stretched out his hand to pinch his brother's face, "Kang Kang, do you still recognize your brother?"

The younger brother blinked his big eyes, suddenly grinned, and called in a baby voice: "Brother...Brother!"

Dad smiled and patted his shoulder. "Come on, go home first. Your aunt has cooked a lot of your favorite dishes today."

Along the way, the younger brother kept lying on his mother's shoulder, staring at Ouyangguang with his big black grape-like eyes, and occasionally called him "brother", making the whole family laugh. Changan chattered about school, and the twins fought to sit next to Ouyangguang.

As the car drove into the villa area, Ouyang Guang looked out the window at the familiar scenery, and a warm current surged in his heart. He hadn't been back for seven months, and even the banyan trees on the roadside made him feel familiar.

"Auntie is back!" Aunt He poked her head out of the kitchen, still holding a spatula in her hand, "The meal will be ready soon, you take a rest first!"

Ouyangguang put his luggage back in the room. The room remained the same as when he left. On the desk was a photo of their family from the Spring Festival last year. The bed sheets smelled of sunshine. He took a deep breath and relaxed.

The lunch was simple but heartwarming: shrimp dumplings, steamed buns with custard, crab vermicelli casserole, braised eggplant, braised pork with green beans, blood duck, steamed spareribs, blanched Chinese cabbage, and a pot of lotus root stewed with pig's trotters. Ouyangguang ate with gusto and even ordered three bowls of rice.

"Brother, you eat like a starving ghost." Changan said with disgust, but secretly pushed the last shrimp dumpling in front of him.

"I have to control my diet during practice. I usually don't eat enough." Ouyang Guang swallowed the shrimp dumpling in one gulp and squinted his eyes in satisfaction. "It's still home."

His mother served him another bowl of soup: "Drink more. I stewed this soup for four hours. It is very nourishing."

The younger brother was sitting in a baby chair, clumsily picking up a bun with chopsticks, and his hands were covered in oil. Ouyang Guang took a tissue to wipe his hands, but the younger brother suddenly handed the saliva-stained bun to his mouth: "Brother, eat it!"

The whole family laughed. Ouyangguang shook his head pretending to be serious: "Eat, brother is full."

"No!" The younger brother raised his hands stubbornly, "Brother, eat!"

Ouyang Guang just opened his mouth to take it, and his brother immediately clapped his hands happily. This warm scene made his mother's eyes red again.

After dinner, Ouyangguang returned to his room to pack his luggage. "Everyone come here, it's time to distribute gifts!" Ouyangguang shouted downstairs.

The three sisters immediately ran upstairs, and the brother twisted excitedly in his mother's arms. Ouyang Guang carefully took out several beautifully packaged boxes from his suitcase.

"An'an, this is for you." He handed over a light blue gift box. Chang'an couldn't wait to open it. Inside was an exquisite silver bracelet with a small snowflake pendant.

Changan's eyes lit up, and he immediately put it on his wrist, shaking it happily: "Thank you, brother!"

"Wow! It's Tiffany!" Changan exclaimed in surprise, "Brother~ you are so pretty~"

"I know you've always wanted it." Ouyang Guang smiled and ruffled his sister's hair, then took out two identical pink boxes, "Xixi, Lele, this is for you."

The twins cheered as they opened their gifts. They were two limited edition Lika dolls wearing Korean traditional costumes. The two little girls immediately started arguing over who should take which doll. Ouyang Guang quickly said, "Don't worry, there are hairpins in the box. You can choose one yourself."

Finally, he took out a rectangular gift box and handed it to his mother: "Mom, this is a Korean ginseng essence set. I heard it is very good for the skin."

The mother took the box and smiled with great satisfaction: "My child is so thoughtful."

The one for Dad is a set of high-end golf clubs. "I know you've fallen in love with golf recently." Ouyang Guang said with a smile.

He took out a bottle of high-end liquor from the box and handed it to his father: "Dad, this is a very famous Korean soju. The alcohol content is not high, but the taste is very mellow. You can try it later."

Dad took it and nodded with satisfaction: "Not bad, I'll open this bottle tonight."

When the younger brother saw that everyone had received a gift, he jumped in his mother's arms anxiously: "Kang Kang wants one too! Brother!"

"How could you forget about our Xiao Kangkang?" Ouyang Guang took out a singing toy car from behind like a magician, "Look, this is Thomas who can talk!"

My younger brother hugged the toy car, giggled with joy, and immediately pressed the music button.

Amid the joyful children's songs, Ouyang Guang took out a box of baby rice cakes from the bag: "This can be given to Kang Kang. I bought it especially for him."

The mother took it with a smile, unwrapped it and fed it to her brother, who ate it with gusto and did not forget to grin at Ouyang Guang.

In the evening, a burst of fragrance wafted out of the kitchen, and Ouyangguang couldn't help but sneak in to take a peek. Auntie was busy at the stove, stewing braised pork trotters in the pot, the sauce was bubbling, and next to it was a steamer with braised pork belly, the fat and lean pork belly was steamed to be crystal clear and fragrant.

"Auntie, why are you cooking so many dishes tonight?" Ouyang Guang leaned over and took a deep breath, "It smells so good!"

Auntie smiled and picked up a piece of freshly cooked stuffed tofu with chopsticks and passed it to him: "Try it and see how it tastes."

Ouyang Guang took a bite. The tofu was crispy on the outside and tender on the inside. The meat filling was fresh and juicy. He squinted his eyes in satisfaction: "It's so delicious! It's ten thousand times better than Korean kimchi!"

The aunt was amused and asked: "Child, do you eat kimchi every day over there?"

"It's about the same. At least it doesn't smell as good as the food at home." Ouyang Guang shook his head and said.

Soon, the food was served, a table full of dishes - braised pork with brown sauce, braised pork trotters, stir-fried beef, corn and pork ribs soup, braised fish, stuffed tofu, glutinous rice cake, rice noodle meat, braised prawns, stir-fried spinach... all of which were Ouyang Guang's favorite foods.

"Come on, Xiaoguang, eat more." Mom kept putting food into his bowl. "You look skinny, you need to eat more."

"Thank you, Mom!" Ouyangguang buried his head in his food, and every bite made him feel so happy that he wanted to cry. In Korea, the training camp food is not bad, but how can it taste like home?

Dad opened the bottle of Korean soju and poured a small cup for himself and Ouyang Guang: "Come on, have a good time today, have a drink with dad. It must be very hard over there, right?"

Ouyang Guang picked up the wine glass and gently clinked it with his father's: "Dad, I toast to you."

"Yes, I just miss home very much." He took a sip of wine, and the hot feeling went from his throat to his stomach.

My younger brother was sitting on a special baby chair, trying to scoop the steamed egg from the bowl with a spoon, and his face was covered with it.

Chang An wiped his brother's face with disdain and asked curiously, "Brother, is it very tiring to practice in Korea?"

"Yeah, I have to train for more than ten hours every day." Ouyangguang picked up a piece of rice noodle meat, "I have to go to the practice room at six in the morning, and often practice until the early morning."

Ouyangguang put down his chopsticks and wiped his mouth: "It's tiring, but it's quite fulfilling. I have to practice dance, vocal music, and rap."

"How is Zhang Yixing, the guy you mentioned last time, doing now?" Dad asked.

"Brother Yixing has made rapid progress, and both his dance and vocal performance have been promoted to Class B." Ouyang Guang said with admiration, "He works very hard and strives very hard, often practicing on his own until the latest."

My mother felt a little distressed: "You guys! Don't just focus on training, also pay attention to your health and don't hurt yourself."

"Don't worry, Mom. I know what I'm doing." Ouyang Guang comforted her.
