Chapter 345 Ferocious and Ugly

Stone Village is the closest village to Xiahe Village.

The imperial physician, disguised as a wandering barefoot doctor, circled around but didn't see a single infected person.

He entered the farmer's house under the pretext of asking for water.

They inquired about the situation in Xiahe Village in roundabout ways.

"I originally wanted to go to the next village, but I saw soldiers guarding it. Has something happened?"

The man carrying the water was about to speak when

A nimble woman came out from the inner room.

He laughed heartily.

"I guess someone committed a crime. Our two villages have a feud and don't usually interact."

As he spoke, he looked suspiciously at the medicine box beside the imperial physician.

"What are you doing in Xiahe Village? Providing medical treatment?"

The imperial physician hurriedly said, "Yes, I heard that quite a few people inside are coughing, is that true?"

The woman waved her hand, "Who knows? Why don't you go in and take a look?"

Seeing that he couldn't get any information out of him, the imperial physician immediately changed the subject.

"I'm just a traveling doctor, I treat patients as they come. Since something happened over there, I'm not going to risk it, so I came here. Does anyone in your village have a cough or fever? My family has a secret family remedy that can cure it."

The woman shook her head.

"I've never heard of that. People in our village live long lives. For minor illnesses, they just boil some herbs at home and it's fine. Almost no one calls a doctor."

The imperial physician asked a few more questions indirectly, but to no avail. Fearing suspicion, he could only leave reluctantly.

As soon as he left, the man in the yard asked, "Why didn't you tell the truth? When did our village have a grudge against Xiahe Village?"

The woman was so angry that she kicked him.

"What do you know? Didn't you see the wooden box he's carrying? That's good wood; ordinary barefoot doctors can't afford that. Besides, Xiahe Village is under lockdown; who knows what will happen then? Our village is perfectly fine. We absolutely cannot get involved with the plague, or our village will be locked down too, understand?"

The man nodded quickly.

"I didn't expect there to actually be an undercover investigation. I thought the village chief was just trying to scare us."

The woman looked solemnly toward Xiahe Village.

"Judging from the situation, Xiahe Village may be in trouble. Fortunately, the villages around us have talismans to protect us, and we haven't heard of anyone getting infected yet. Hopefully, this will pass soon."

She had just finished speaking.

The imperial physician then walked back from the doorway.

The two were startled.

They all stared at him with pale faces, their hearts pounding in their throats.

The imperial physician, however, did not hear their conversation; he simply pointed to the dark, gloomy sky and said...

“The heavy rain is coming soon. Your village is so close to Xiahe Village. If they really contract some serious illness, the rainwater from your village will flow over, and your village will spread rumors.”

Women and men alike looked up at the horizon.

Their expressions showed some wavering.

The imperial physician's heart stirred upon seeing this.

"Don't listen to the instigation of some people. Maybe some people want to kill you and gain a good reputation. If you get sick, those powerful people can give an order and you won't have a way to survive."

Seeing that the two were becoming increasingly guilty and hesitant.

The imperial physician wanted to take it a step further.

Suddenly the woman pointed to the sky and her face lit up with joy.

The clouds have drifted away. Will it rain?

The imperial physician was surprised, only then realizing that such a large patch of dark clouds was actually moving in one direction, but how could the clouds drift when there was no wind for thousands of miles?

The women and men, however, were incredibly excited.

This must be divine protection.

The two men impatiently chased the imperial physician out.

The soldiers guarding the vicinity also saw the strange phenomenon in the sky.

They whispered among themselves, marveling at the sight.

"Do you think that Ninth Princess Consort might really be a monster? Could she have taken away the clouds?"

"How is that possible? Could she really control the weather?"

"Now that the heavy rains have stopped, does that mean the plague crisis is over?"

"Once the plague is over, the Third Prince will be in trouble. Didn't you see how he just broke off relations with the Ninth Prince? Given the Ninth Prince's personality, we might not even have a chance to survive."

Everyone felt uneasy and anxious.

On the other side,

In the dog hole at the back wall of the Ninth Prince's Mansion,

Su Yulan struggled to squeeze in, crossed a small path, climbed to the outer wall of Fengya Building, and scrambled over the wall to enter.

The sound of falling woke up Granny Li, who was washing clothes.

Who is it?

Su Yulan got up from the ground and patted the dirt off her body.

He then ripped off the face mask, revealing a bumpy, red rash on it.

"Where is Yun Xiaoran? Tell her to come out and see me."

Granny Li was startled.

"Princess Su? What happened to your face?"

Su Yulan was so angry she felt like her lungs were about to explode.

"You still have the nerve to ask? You were the ones who leaked the information about the plague in Xiahe Village to me. I've already lured Jiang Qingwan into this mess, and the Emperor already knows she won't have a good ending. But now, my face is all messed up like this, and you want Yun Xiaoran to give me the antidote?"

Since none of the medicinal herbs Jiang Qingwan found were effective.

Then the instigator, Yun Xiaoran, must have a way.

At this moment, Yun Xiaoran heard the noise and came out of the room.

Her long hair was loose and uncombed.

His eyes were hollow, and his gaze was sinister, like a ghost inside a living person's skin.

Su Yulan shuddered under the gaze.

But the thought of his face being ruined made him rush over immediately.

"Give me the medicine. If my face doesn't recover, I'll drag you down with me."

Yun Xiaoran did not dodge.

He let her hold onto her collar.

His laughter was unusually eerie.

"Fine, then let's die together."
