Chapter 83 An Encounter in the Flower Shop

Huo Zhen hid behind Guo Hao's pageboy and peeked out to provoke him.

"Young Marquis, aren't you fearless? Go in then. If you don't dare, it means you admit you plotted against me."

Guo Hao was provoked and stiffened his neck.

"If I dare, you'll have to call me 'Big Brother' from now on, you hear me?"

Huo Zhen was truly terrified at this moment.

That cool, refreshing sensation still seemed to linger around my neck.

"If you can really catch the female ghost, I'll call you big brother."

Guo Hao got up from the ground, stretched his shoulders, looked at the dark room, swallowed several times, grabbed the lantern, and walked in to light the way.

Once inside, the coolness became even more intense.

He tried his best to hold the lantern high.

The area that was illuminated might not be very large, but fortunately their rooms were laid out the same way, and he quickly found his way to the desk and lit the candle.

The darkness in the room was dispelled.

Guo Hao mustered his courage and looked around. After confirming that there was nothing there, he breathed a sigh of relief and pointed at Huo Zhen, who was still standing at the door, saying, "Come in here with me. Where are the ghosts? Don't talk nonsense."

Seeing that he was alright, Huo Zhen immediately ran inside.

Sure enough, there was nothing in the room.

On his bed, there were only his scattered clothes and the uncovered blankets.

"Am I dreaming?"

Guo Hao curled his lip in disdain.

"You're dreaming about women like this? Tomorrow's your day off, let's go to the pleasure boat tonight, it's your treat."

Huo Zhen scratched his head in frustration.

"Fine, I'll treat you then. Who cares about your little bit of money? Get lost."

Neither of them noticed that on the dark roof beam, a black crow was perched, its crimson eyes staring intently at Huo Zhen.

It was as if a beautiful female ghost was truly hiding inside.

...

Qinghui returned the next morning while having breakfast.

His shoulders were still damp with the night dew, but there was no sign of fatigue in his spirited eyes.

"Miss, Black Bear is dead."

Jiang Qingwan frowned, but did not rush to ask.

"I've asked Lian'er to prepare a room for you. Go take a shower, change your clothes, and then we'll talk in detail after dinner."

As a bodyguard, Qinghui was already used to the life of being on guard and watching all night, and didn't find it strange.

Just as she was about to shake her head, Lian'er smiled and said, "Miss Qinghui, I'll take you there. Miss has prepared a few clothes for you, all in dark colors. Take a look and see if you like them. If you don't, I'll go and buy you some more."

Qingsui was clearly not used to it.

After a moment of stunned silence, he lowered his head and followed Lian'er back to his room.

He quickly tidied himself up, changed into a gray outfit, and came out.

Li Dou placed the golden-brown, crispy chicken leg on her plate.

"Miss said you are very skilled in martial arts. People who practice martial arts should eat more meat. You should eat some."

Lian'er served her another bowl of vegetable porridge.

"Tell me what you like to eat, and I'll make it for you."

The repeated enthusiasm made Qinghui feel both bittersweet and overwhelmed.

She wasn't used to this way of getting along.

Secret guards need to be calm, collected, and decisive in their actions.

Jiang Qingwan noticed her unease and said calmly, "Let's talk while we eat. Where did Hei Xiazi die, and what was the cause of his death?"

Qing Sui quickly composed herself and said seriously, "He died on a barren slope. He was found by a herbalist who went up the mountain to collect herbs. The authorities have been notified. I examined the body. There were no external injuries, and it wasn't poisoned. It seems he was scared to death. His blind eyes had two bloody holes pecked out by something. I found this on them."

She took a handkerchief out of her sleeve and opened it.

Inside was a black feather.

"I inquired about the crows' whereabouts, but no one saw them, so I came back to report to you first. I'll go check again later."

Jiang Qingwan took the handkerchief and examined the feather closely.

It was stained with human blood, and at the root of the hair, there seemed to be a faint wisp of black mist.

Qingsui eats very quickly.

He put down his chopsticks shortly afterward.

"Miss, I'm going."

"etc."

Jiang Qingwan called her back and handed over the feather with the talisman she had just carved.

"It will guide you to its owner. Once you find the location, return there and do not go any closer."

After saying that, he released his hand, and the feather rose up gracefully, floating in the air as if it had no weight, as if summoned by some force.

Qing Sui didn't dare to pause for a moment and immediately used her lightness skill to catch up.

Li Dou watched with great excitement, taking two steps after her and staring blankly in the direction Qing Sui had left, his eyes filled with admiration.

"She's amazing."

Lian'er said sourly.

"She's also very beautiful."

"Yes, just as beautiful as Lian'er."

Li Dou was completely taken aback and nodded in response, looking rather foolish.

This made Lian'er even angrier. She gulped down the porridge and got up to go back to the kitchen.

Jiang Qingwan found it amusing and didn't point it out.

Last night, she lost to Fu An'an three times while playing mahjong, and promised to go check on the dying peony for her today.

After dinner, she told Li Dou to stay home to practice his skills and wait for Qing Sui, and then took Lian'er to Fu An'an's flower room.

Springtime is the perfect time to enjoy flowers and adorn oneself with them.

The greenhouse is doing very well; there's not even room left to park a horse-drawn carriage in front of it.

Jiang Qingwan simply had Lian'er give the driver some money and send him away, so they didn't have to wait for them.

Just as they were about to go inside, a luxurious brocade carriage suddenly stopped in front of them.

If they hadn't dodged in time, the galloping hooves would have trampled them.

Lian'er protected Jiang Qingwan, her face flushed with anger.

"Why aren't you watching where you're going?"

The driver snorted through his nose, his eyes full of disdain.
