Jiang Yining looked at He Chi with gratitude. She didn't eat much and kept drinking tea with the cup, but her eyes were always on He Chi opposite her.
When he raised his black eyelashes, Jiang Yining turned her eyes away without leaving a trace.
When they went to the front desk to check out, the proprietress looked at them with a smile.
She said to He Chi, "Young people are still the best, loving each other. During this meal, Miss Jiang's eyes never left you."
Jiang Yining was a few steps behind He Chi. When she came over, she happened to hear the proprietress's teasing.
He Chi looked back at her with interest, and asked with a smirk, "Really?"
Her face flushed and she tried to deny it, "Boss, you're mistaken. I was just drinking tea."
The lady boss looked like an experienced person. She smiled and said, "Look, you're getting shy. I can see it clearly. You're already married, so you don't have to be embarrassed about your husband."
Jiang Yining avoided He Chi's sight, and the man became more calm.
He said to the proprietress in a cheerful mood, "My wife is shy, so we'll leave first and come to your store next time."
She slipped away first. Listening to what He Chi said, Jiang Yining wanted to dig a hole for herself and crawl into it.
Back in the car, He Chi didn't mention what happened just now. He asked Jiang Yining for the address and started navigating.
Before driving, He Chi glanced at her and saw that she looked calm, as if she was not the same person who was shy inside just now. But when he looked closely, he saw a hint of pink on the tip of her ear.
He Chi silently raised the corner of his lips, turned the steering wheel, and didn't say anything along the way, just tapping his fingertips on the steering wheel again and again.
Jiang Yining felt that each blow was hitting her heart, irritating her nerves.
He might as well ask her, so that she would have a chance to fool him, but this person didn't say a word.
But soon, Jiang Yining no longer had the heart to think about these things. The car stopped outside the community and she contacted Wang Zhiyao's mother first.
He Chi said, "I'll wait for you in the car."
Jiang Yining unbuckled his seatbelt and got out of the car, humming, "Then I'll go over first."
She went to the security office to register first. When she got downstairs, a girl with short hair looked up at her and asked, "Is this Teacher Jiang?"
Jiang Yining said, "Yes, you are Wang Zhiyao?"
Wang Zhiyao hummed, not feeling too excited, and said, "My mother asked me to come down and pick you up."
There was calmness in her eyes, and she didn't seem to care much about Jiang Yining's arrival, but her words and actions showed her respect for Jiang Yining.
Seeing that she didn't really want to talk, Jiang Yining didn't try to get closer to her, but just quietly followed her into the elevator.
After entering the door, Wang Zhiyao said, "Teacher Jiang, no need to change shoes, please come in."
Then he poured tea for Jiang Yining and said, "My mother...she just received a call and will be out soon. Please have some tea."
Jiang Yining smiled at her and said, "Thank you."
She picked up the teacup and took a sip. After sitting in the living room for a while, she heard an angry voice coming from the other end of the room.
"Mr. Wang, you were the one who cheated on me first. I only want half of both the house and the savings. I've already given in. Since you don't agree, we can only meet in court!"
"Whether or not there's a chance of winning isn't up to you." She seemed to laugh out loud. "So what if you earned the money? Haven't I paid any price over the years?"
"I sacrificed my career to stay home and take care of the children and the family. Why do you say I didn't contribute?"
"I don't want to argue with you. See you in court. That's it."
Jiang Yining gently put down the teacup. He had heard everything he shouldn't have heard. It seemed like it came at the wrong time.
Now, she also knew why Wang Zhiyao didn't go to school and cut off contact with her family.
Jiang Yining pretended to look at Wang Zhiyao casually, but she seemed to be used to it and had no emotion at all. This chapter has been read (please click on the next chapter to continue reading!)
