As soon as Su Chenwei opened her eyes, she transmigrated to the 1960s, a time of material scarcity and famine.
The original host was a pampered rich young lady who, to spare her from the hard...
But Zhu Xiuqin had already strode into the house and stood in front of her.
He pointed his finger unceremoniously at the tip of her nose.
"What do you mean, 'you'? Liu Yuelan, I, Zhu Xiuqin, have lived most of my life, traveled all over the country, and met all kinds of people. This is the first time I've ever seen someone like you who lies without even thinking! It's truly an eye-opener!"
"If all the young people in our country were like you, with no moral bottom line, then we would be doomed! Fortunately, my Qingzhi is different from you. She is upright, responsible, and principled. Girls like her are the hope of our new China!"
Liu Yuelan knew that she couldn't outthink the other person, nor could she be as eloquent as them, so continuing the conversation would only make her suffer more.
She could only turn her head away dejectedly, looking helplessly at Fang Youming beside her.
"Youming... say something..."
Zhu Xiuqin stood to the side, a smirk playing on her lips, and rolled her eyes.
This behavior is pretentious and over the top.
Compared to her own Qingzhi's polite and well-mannered nature, she was worlds apart.
She grew increasingly impatient, finding even a second glance unnecessary.
He simply turned around and walked straight to Su Qingzhi's side.
She scrutinized Su Qingzhi carefully and asked in a low voice.
"Qingzhi, are you hurt? Did you bump your face? Does your hand hurt?"
Su Qingzhi gently shook her head, looking at her mother with a firm gaze.
"Mom, I'm fine, I'm really not hurt, don't worry."
As she spoke, she flexed her wrists, smiled at Zhu Xiuqin, and indicated that she was alright.
Upon hearing this, Zhu Xiuqin's tense nerves finally relaxed a little.
But as soon as he turned around and saw Liu Yuelan's pitiful appearance, his anger flared up again.
She suddenly stepped forward, pointed at Liu Yuelan's nose, and started cursing.
"What do you mean 'friend in the light'? I'm the enemy in the dark! You're good at playing the weakling and finding a man to rely on. Deputy Company Commander Fang must have accumulated eight lifetimes of bad luck to deserve this retribution for marrying such a troublemaker!"
Seeing that Fang Youming remained silent, Liu Yuelan was trembling with anger.
After being subjected to another barrage of insults from Zhu Xiuqin, he was even more enraged and could no longer tolerate it.
She abruptly pulled her hand back, jumped up, and started cursing.
"You old hag, I'm not your daughter-in-law, and you're not my mother-in-law. What right do you have to interfere in my family affairs?"
"I can't be bothered with you anyway!"
Zhu Xiuqin rolled up her sleeves while cursing.
"If you hadn't been gossiping behind my back and making things bad for my Qingzhi, I wouldn't have even given you a second glance! Do you think my Jiang family is easy to bully?"
Just as she was about to rush up and teach the person a lesson, Su Qingzhi reacted quickly and grabbed her.
He rushed forward, grabbed Liu Yuelan's hair, pulled her down hard, and shoved her onto the muddy ground.
Then came a flurry of beatings.
"How dare you insult my mother-in-law? Who do you think you are!"
Su Qingzhi roared as she fought.
“My mother-in-law is such a good person, kind-hearted, reasonable, and never bullies anyone. She’s not even fifty yet, and you’re calling her an old woman? I think you’re just unhappy with your own life and can’t stand seeing others doing well. You’re just jealous!”
Su Qingzhi cursed vehemently, but her hands didn't stop either.
She secretly pinched her thigh, and the pain brought tears to her eyes instantly, making her look extremely aggrieved.
Section Chief Zhu watched in stunned silence.
He quickly stepped forward and shouted loudly.
"Xiao Shen! Xiao Fang! What are you two standing there for? Hurry up! Pull your wives away!"
Fang Youming was both angry and ashamed, feeling that he had lost face in front of his superiors.
He grabbed the disheveled Liu Yuelan from the ground and dragged her backward forcefully, growling under his breath.
"Shut up! Stop messing around! You're making a fool of yourself!"
Meanwhile, Shen Zhiyu had already firmly wrapped his arms around Su Qingzhi's waist from behind.
He gently patted her back while softly coaxing her.
"Qingzhi, don't be angry. It's all in the past. Let's not stoop to their level. It's not worth it. Come on, let go. I'm here."
Su Qingzhi seemed to be pulled back to her senses by these calls, her whole body went limp, and she burst into sobs.
"A-Shuo, I really... didn't want to hit her... but she shouldn't have insulted our mother... Our mother is so good, how could she say such things to her... I'm really... really furious."
Shen Zhiyu quickly offered some gentle words of comfort.
"I know, Qingzhi, don't be afraid, it's alright, everything is over, I'm here with you."
With her back to the others, Su Qingzhi winked playfully at him.
Shen Zhiyu almost burst out laughing when he saw her like this.
He quickly pursed his lips and said in a serious tone.
"Qingzhi, let it go this time, but you can't be so impulsive next time, you know? Hitting people is wrong."
Before he could even react, he was slapped hard on the back of the head.
Immediately afterwards, Zhu Xiuqin's voice rang out in my ears.
"Qingzhi only did it to stand up for me! And you, instead of feeling sorry for her, are here scolding her!"
After Zhu Xiuqin finished speaking, she immediately turned to face Section Chief Zhu, her tone softening.
"Section Chief Zhu, you can't blame my Qingzhi. She's usually such a quiet girl. If Liu Yuelan hadn't started the insults first, Qingzhi wouldn't have acted impulsively and started hitting her."
Section Chief Zhu frowned slightly, his gaze sweeping across the crowd before finally settling on Su Qingzhi.
Her eyes were red from crying, and there were still tear stains on her cheeks.
He then glanced at Liu Yuelan, who was standing next to Fang Youming.
He looked defiant, his lips pursed, and his eyes were full of resentment.
