After Escaping Famine, Three-Year-Old Fu Bao Became Everyone’s Favorite

During the famine, a sack of grain was traded for a little girl. Everyone thought the family had lost their minds.

But ever since they adopted little Qingtian, it was as if their lives had be...

Chapter 4 It’s All Potato’s Fault

Before going to bed, while the fire under the pot was still going out, Mrs. Ye got some hot water and prepared to wipe Qingtian's body.

As soon as her clothes were undone, Mrs. Ye couldn't bear it anymore and burst into tears.

I originally thought the child only had a wound on his forehead, but when I undressed him, I realized that there was almost no healthy skin on his body.

His arms and legs were covered in bruises from being pinched, and the red marks on his back were even more shocking.

The new wounds piled up on the old ones make people tremble.

Seeing this, Qingtian reached out to wipe her tears and whispered, "Don't cry."

"Okay, don't cry, mom." Mrs. Ye held back her tears, carefully avoided the wound, and gently wiped her.

Mrs. Ye had come to help, but seeing this, she couldn't help but wipe away her tears: "You are already a mother, how could you have the heart to do this!"

In the light of the fire, Mrs. Ye vaguely saw that there seemed to be something stuck on the sole of Qingtian's right foot, so she wiped it a few more times with a towel.

In the end, it still didn't come off, so she leaned over to take a closer look and discovered, "Ouch, our Qingtian still has a birthmark on the bottom of his foot!"

Mrs. Ye leaned over to take a look and said, "It really is. It's bright red, like a small crescent moon."

As they were talking, Third Sister Ye came over, holding a few clothes in her hands and said, "Sister-in-law, these are Changnian's clothes. They are probably a little too big for her, so just wear them for now."

Mrs. Ye took the job immediately: "Put it on first. I'll alter it for her tomorrow when I have time on the way."

Seeing the three sisters-in-law all busy around Qingtian, Guo couldn't help but complain to Ye Laosi: "Look, it's okay for the eldest sister-in-law, but why are the second and third sisters-in-law joining in the fun?

"It's not like you don't have children, why are you hanging around a wild kid?"

Ye Lao Si was frightened by these words and quickly whispered, "My dear aunt, don't dare to say such words again!

"Mom has already agreed. From now on, Qingtian will be Big Brother and Big Sister's biological daughter, just like Changrui and Changxue.

"If mother hears this, you'll be scolded again!

“Besides, look how pitiful Sunny is!

"She's suffered so much at such a young age. As her uncle and aunt, we must love her dearly!"

When Guo heard this, her eyes almost rolled to the sky.

"I've never seen anyone eager to be an uncle to a stranger!

"Besides, we don't have much food at home. If we give away another bag, how are we going to live in the future?"

"Well, as long as the family is together, there's nothing to worry about!"

Guo was so angry that she twisted him hard: "Are you stupid? You really pissed me off!"

"Oh, don't be angry anymore." Ye Lao Si said with a smile, "I will go out to find food at dawn tomorrow, and then I will give you my share."

"Tsk, who cares."

"I miss you, okay?"

The newlyweds were soon back in love again.

Over there, Mrs. Ye had already cleaned Qingtian and dressed her, and was ready to take her to bed.

The Ye family is a big family. The head of the family is Old Lady Ye, and her four brothers have all started their own families.

Apart from the fact that Mrs. Ye has been infertile for many years and the fourth son’s wife has just married and has not given birth yet.

The second sister-in-law gave birth to the eldest grandson Ye Changrui and twin brothers Ye Changzhao and Ye Changfeng.

The third sister-in-law gave birth to two brothers, the second son Ye Changxue and the fifth son Ye Changnian.

Now including Sunny, there are fifteen people in the family.

This time, two flatbed trucks were pulled out to escape the famine, one for people and the other for their belongings.

At night, the old lady and her children slept in the car, and the others slept on the ground around them.

The four brothers took turns pulling the cart and keeping watch, and everything went smoothly along the way.

When Mrs. Ye came over carrying Qingtian, Old Mrs. Ye had already laid down in the car with her five grandchildren, and had left a place for Qingtian next to her.

"Okay, let's go to sleep." Mrs. Ye said as she was about to put Qingtian in the car.

Qingtian suddenly put his arms around her neck, buried his face in her neck, and refused to let go without saying a word.

"What's wrong? Would you like to sleep with grandma and your brothers?" Mrs. Ye asked softly.

Qingtian shook his head, tightened his arms and hugged her tighter.

Although the Ye family members are very friendly, they are still a bit unfamiliar.

Especially at night, the only person she felt close to was Mrs. Ye.

Seeing this, Old Madam Ye said to Ye Changrui, "Ruirui, come up inside. Let's squeeze in and let your aunt carry Qingtian up."

The boys immediately started to laugh and push each other.

Ye Changrui crawled to the other side to make room and said, "It's windy tonight, so it'll be warmer if we sleep together."

"Qingtian, hurry up and thank grandma and brother!" Mrs. Ye said as she put Qingtian next to Grandma Ye, and squeezed in herself, lying on her side at the very edge.

Qingtian whispered, "Thank you grandma, thank you big brother."

"This child is really well-behaved." Old Mrs. Ye gave birth to four sons, and her sons gave her five grandsons. Suddenly seeing a soft and tender little girl, she couldn't help but feel fond of her.

"That's right. I don't know why, but I really want sunny days."

Guo snorted coldly from below, turned over and wrapped herself tightly in the quilt.

Mrs. Ye pretended not to hear, patted the sunny sky and hummed an unknown little tune.

It was the first time that Qingtian enjoyed such treatment and she soon fell into a sweet dream.

Mrs. Ye took slower and slower photos and fell asleep.

When the moon was at its highest point in the sky and everyone in the family was fast asleep, Guo suddenly turned over and sat up, then tiptoed to the fire.

Ye Laosi, who was on night watch, saw her coming and hurriedly lowered his voice and asked, "Want to go to the bathroom? I'll go with you."
