Chapter 45 Building a Snowman

Li Qing and the others were still in bed when they opened the window and saw the snow scene outside. They started yelling and screaming, hurriedly put on their clothes, and ran out like madmen.

Li Qingtong went next door and pulled Wang Jiao and Li Qingyao along, and even Li Qingfei and Li Qingzhi joined in the fun. The group of people frolicked on the snow.

The village children all came out, running, jumping, and shouting, making quite a scene.

They slipped and fell, but they didn't panic. They got up and continued playing.

Liu Yun was extremely anxious at the door of her house. It was freezing cold, and if she ran around and sweated, she might catch a cold.

While washing up, Pan Jinhua told Li Qingzhang to keep an eye on things.

Li Qingzhang was the eldest brother and held great prestige among his siblings. His younger brothers and sisters always listened to him.

Sure enough, not long after Li Qingzhang left, a long string of followers came after him.

Li Qingyao was also in the group. As soon as he entered, he was stared at by the elders, and he immediately blushed.

Playing in the snow with my brothers was so much fun that I lost my sense of proportion.

Yan chuckled and pulled him over.

"Did you have fun today? Did you break a sweat? Go drink some ginger soup with your buddies to warm up and avoid catching a cold."

As soon as she saw the children going out to play, Mrs. Yan went to the kitchen to cook ginger soup.

"Okay, Mother."

Li Qingyao childishly agreed and ran quickly to the kitchen with his head down.

Before long, the sounds of children playing and laughing came from the kitchen, as clear as silver bells.

Liu Yun and Madam Yan exchanged a smile, then shook their heads helplessly.

After breakfast, the three Li brothers, along with their wives and children, and Yan Shi with her two children, kowtowed to Pan Jinhua to wish her a Happy New Year.

Pan Jinhua had already prepared red envelopes for the children, including the three Li brothers, Liu Yun, Mo Qiaoniang, and Yan Shi.

"Hurry up and put it away. What's with all this fussing? It's the New Year, you're not even as generous as the children!"

Pan Jinhua was displeased with their worthless appearance, and the children, seeing their elder being criticized, covered their mouths and chuckled.

The Fang family came to Shuxia Village before the Lunar New Year and have been busy at the Li family's house ever since. They are unwilling to rest and are either helping to welcome and see off guests or playing with the children.

After the family members had paid their New Year's visits, people from other branches of the family arrived. Before they could even exchange greetings, villagers also came to visit, bringing gifts.

Because of the matter of building the kang (heated brick bed), the villagers now treat the Li family very warmly.

Pan Jinhua was of a higher generation, so she didn't go out to pay New Year's visits; she could simply stay at home.

But because of his seniority, he had to spend a lot of money, which made him feel uneasy.

There are only about ten households in the village, and we visited them all in just one morning.

Pan Jinhua, having nothing to do, was happy to see the snow and led the children to build a snowman at the door.

Everyone was excited. They'd played with snowballs before, but how did they build a snowman?

Under Pan Jinhua's direction, the snowballs started rolling and rolling, and they began to compete to see whose snowball was bigger.

Pan Jinhua, with three little girls in tow, rolled several exquisitely round snowballs. Two adults and two children.

The smaller ones were stacked on top of the larger ones, then two small round stones were picked up as eyes, dried chili peppers were inserted as noses, and two small wooden sticks were inserted on the left and right as hands.

The round-headed, adorable snowman is now complete.

Looking at the snowman, Li Qingruo and the others felt that something was off. It didn't quite look like a person, but they couldn't quite put their finger on it either.

It looks strange at first glance, but the more you look at it, the cuter it becomes.

When the other children who were playing with snowballs saw the two snowmen, they immediately took a liking to them and became serious, determined to build their own snowmen.

Li Qingjun quickly grabbed Pan Jinhua's leg and begged her for help.

"Grandma, help me build a snowman, Jun'er wants to build one too."

"Make a small snowman for Jun'er."

Pan Jinhua, in a playful mood, quickly built another small snowman and asked Li Qingjun to find small wooden sticks to attach arms. Li Qingjun searched for a long time before finding a suitable stick and gently inserted it, afraid of damaging his little snowman.

He then ran to the kitchen and begged Liu Yun to find him two particularly beautiful dried chilies. One for his nose, and the other for his mouth.

"This snowman is so cute, Jun'er loves it!"

Li Qingjun happily jumped around on the spot.

“This snowman is Jun’er. Jun’er is a little boy, and he is a little snowman. They are both well-behaved.”

Pan Jinhua was overwhelmed with maternal love. There was no way around it; when children are cute, they are the most precious treasures in the world.

Upon hearing this, Li Qingjun froze, seemingly lost in thought.

Just as Pan Jinhua was about to ask him what was wrong, she heard Li Qingjun say something.

"This little snowman is me, so I'm going to build a tiny little snowman for my little sister. I'm sure she'll like it when she sees it. I'll make a big one for my brother, an even bigger one for Dad, and Mom will have one too, a little bigger than my brother and a little smaller than Dad."

Upon hearing this, Pan Jinhua was almost moved to tears by the child's innocent words.

She put on a stern face and pretended to be jealous.

"Good, Jun'er, your brother has one, your sister has one, your parents have one, but doesn't your grandmother have one?"

"Yes, yes, yes! Grandma has some!" Li Qingjun quickly coaxed, "Grandma's are piled up next to Jun'er. Jun'er loves Grandma the most. Grandma's cooking is so delicious! And the spicy one we had yesterday, slurp~"

Li Qingjun was drooling.

Pan Jinhua laughed heartily, and several little girls next to her also laughed so hard they were bent over.

Li Xuchang, who had been listening with tears welling up in his eyes at the door, turned around and was amused by his gluttonous son.

Li Qingtong was speechless and facepalmed. She ran to Li Qingjun's side and said that he would make his own snowman, changing the subject to save face for her silly younger brother.

Li Qingruo suppressed a laugh, then asked Li Qingjun with a wry face, "Jun'er, why aren't you building a snowman for your sister? Don't you like her?"

Li Qingjun waved his hands anxiously, repeatedly saying that his sister also had some.

When Li Xuchang came out, fearing that Li Qingjun would suffer, he quickly helped him roll a snowball.

His brothers, sisters, parents, and grandmother all need to make snowmen, but he, being so small, can't possibly manage all of that.

Li Qingjun was overjoyed to see his father helping him, and even Li Qingtong laughed happily when she saw Li Xuchang rolling the snowball.

While laughing, Li Qingtong was hit by a snowball from Li Xuchang. Not to be outdone, Li Qingtong mustered her courage and retaliated, and Li Qingjun also ran over to help.

Before long, the scene turned into a 1 vs. n battle between Li Xuchang and n other players, with snowballs flying everywhere.
