Mother Shen stood up abruptly.

Her expression was somewhat incredulous. "You mean, Li Yunyan went out?"

Granny Lin nodded.

"How is this possible? She was going out, why didn't she let me know? Where did she go?"

Granny Lin shook her head, "This old servant doesn't know. The gatekeeper only said he saw the eldest young mistress go out, and assumed she had the old lady's permission!"

"This is outrageous!"

Mother Shen slammed her hand on the table, but accidentally used too much force, and her palm hurt.

She clenched her fists, her face contorted with anger, and looked at Shen Fengxian.

"Xian'er, this is the good daughter-in-law you married into our family! Now she dares to leave the manor without permission! She completely disregards you, me, and this family!"

She glared angrily at her son, hoping he would finally relent and let her divorce his wife!

How could Shen Fengxian possibly divorce Li Yunyan?

If he divorces her, where else can he find a woman who is easy to manipulate, has no family background, is good-looking, and can be used as a shield to save face?

Regarding Li Yunyan's actions today, Shen Fengxian felt that this was probably just another little trick to attract his attention!

When she returns, he only needs to talk to her for a few minutes, and her anger will subside.

He remained calm and spoke in a measured tone, "Mother, please don't get angry and harm your health! I'll talk to Madam when she returns and have her apologize to Mother immediately!"

Seeing her son still protecting that vile woman, Mother Shen was so angry that her chest heaved violently, and she unconsciously raised her voice. "What has that woman bewitched you? Why are you protecting her like this! She can't even have a child. If she were any other woman, she would have been ashamed and asked to be divorced long ago! Shen Fengxian's eyes flashed with impatience. His mother said these words every few days, and he was really tired of hearing them.

He glanced at Li Mingshan out of the corner of his eye, offering silent reassurance.

Li Mingshan gave him a subtle smile, appearing to be in a good-natured manner.

Shen Fengxian's eyes dimmed.

He quickly stood up. "Mother, I'm going to my shift! I'll talk to Madam about it myself!"

After saying that, he strode out.

After bowing to Mother Shen, Li Mingshan followed her.

The two boarded the carriage one after the other.

Since they came out earlier than usual, and the coachman from the manor had not yet arrived, they talked inside the carriage.

As soon as Li Mingshan settled down, he snuggled into Shen Fengxian's arms, his voice less dignified than when he was in the main hall.

"Fengxian, are you angry?"

Shen Fengxian pinched the bridge of his nose. "I've heard those words too many times. I don't want to argue with my mother anymore!"

"Then what should we do? Are you really going to divorce your wife?"

"That's unnecessary!"

Shen Fengxian curled his lips into a sinister smile. "Didn't Mother want a grandson? Then I'll give her one!"

Li Mingshan shoved him away, his expression furious. "I knew you were after Li Yunyan's beauty! Do you want to consummate your marriage with her? Let me tell you, if you touch her, don't even think about getting close to me again!"

"It wasn't me!"

Shen Fengxian pulled him back into his arms and whispered with a smile in his ear, "Mingshan, it's you!"

"I?"

Li Mingshan was a little confused. "What does this have to do with me?"

He lifted the carriage curtain, looked outside, and after confirming that no one was around, he lowered it again.

He said in a low voice, "Rather than having to adopt a child from the imperial clan to raise later, I would rather raise your child! Mingshan, are you willing?"

After getting off the carriage, Li Yunyan paid the driver and then stepped inside.

There were three or five customers in the shop. The shop assistant was promoting fabrics to the customers, while Li Jingshu stood in front of the counter, fiddling with an abacus.

Her five-year-old nephew sat quietly in the chair next to her, playing with the nine-linked rings.

"Sister! Kang'er!"

Li Jingshu suddenly looked up, her eyes lighting up with surprise, "Yan'er! Why are you back now?"

"Kang'er greets Aunt!"

Liu Wenkang jumped off the chair and bowed respectfully to her.

"Good boy!" Li Yunyan patted his head, her face full of affection.

She looked at Li Jingshu's face, which bore a striking resemblance to her own, and her beautiful eyes crinkled into a smile.

"Does my sister not welcome me?"

"How could that be? I'm overjoyed!"

Li Jingshu happily pulled her into the inner room, and asked Qiu Gui and Dong Yun to come out and guard the shop.
