Late at night, after drinking heavily, Chu Rou fell asleep with the pinnacle of the human world! When entanglements arose, Young Master Mo stepped in to smooth things over. When company performance...
Chapter 166 Mo Yuan was taken away by the police.
"That's great. Are you my father's comrade-in-arms?" Chu Rou asked, puzzled.
"I suppose so!" Qi Wende answered ambiguously. "Is your stepfather good to you? Is he good to your mother?"
"How did you know I have a stepfather?" Chu Rou asked warily. "Did Qi Hang tell you?"
Qi Wende gave Chu Rou a strange feeling. His attention to her was a bit excessive. If he was her father's comrade-in-arms, his appearance was too sudden.
"I actually..."
Qi Wende placed his hand on the mask, about to take it off, when the ward door was forcefully pushed open.
Qi Lin rushed in, tears welling up in her eyes, and threw herself into Chu Rou's arms. "Sister Chu Rou, what's wrong?"
Qi Wende lowered his hand.
Chu Rou coughed. "Qi Lin, why are you crying? I'm not dead yet!"
"I heard you were injured and Xu Lan is in the hospital. Were you being chased?" Qi Lin asked, crying.
It's true! Chu Rou wiped away Qi Lin's tears with her fingers. "Don't cry, I'm fine, your father is still here!"
"Huh?" Qi Lin then realized that her father was sitting next to the hospital bed. "Dad, what are you doing here?"
"I came here to ask Chu Rou something," Qi Wende stood up. "Since you're here, spend some time with Chu Rou. I'll be leaving now."
"Okay!" Qi Lin watched Qi Wende leave.
"Sister Chu Rou, what did my dad want to ask you?"
Chu Rou frowned and said, "Your dad seems to know my dad. He asked about my family."
"Impossible!" Qi Lin denied this claim. "My dad has never left City B, how could he know your dad? Unless..."
Qi Lin covered her mouth, her eyes wide open.
"Unless what?" Chu Rou asked curiously.
“Unless my dad remembered something from the past.” Qi Lin suddenly stood up. “Sister Chu Rou, I have to go and find out. I’ll come back to keep you company after I’m done.”
Qi Lin left in a hurry.
Remembering the past? Chu Rou looked puzzled. What did this mean? Did Chairman Qi suffer from amnesia?
Anyway, it has nothing to do with her, so I'm not going to think about it anymore; it's a waste of brain cells.
Qi Lin chased after him out of the hospital, but Qi Wende had already left.
She took out her phone and called Qi Hang, but no one answered after several rings. Qi Lin paced anxiously, and finally the other end answered the phone before the last ring.
"Linlin, what's wrong?"
"Brother, is Dad thinking about things from the past?"
There was no response from Qi Hang for a long time, and Qi Lin became anxious. "Brother, can you hear me? Dad has regained his memory."
Qi Hang hummed in agreement. "I heard it. Dad only remembered part of it; he didn't remember everything."
"Huh? When did this happen? Why didn't anyone tell me?" Qi Lin raised her voice. "What did Dad remember?"
"Dad remembered..." Qi Hang didn't know how to tell Qi Lin, "We also have an older sister. Well, I'm busy here, let's talk about it when we meet."
Qi Hang hung up the phone.
Qi Lin lowered her arm. What had her brother just said? They had an older sister?
She returned to Chu Rou's ward absentmindedly and sat in a chair, lost in thought.
"Qi Lin, Qi Lin," Chu Rou waved her hand in front of Qi Lin's eyes, "What are you thinking about? You've lost your mind."
Qi Lin snapped out of her daze. "My brother said we have an older sister, Sister Chu Rou, what should I do?"
"Isn't having more older sisters a good thing?" Chu Rou didn't think much of it. "Wouldn't that mean there's one more person to take care of you?"
“But what if she’s not a good sister?” Qi Lin said, resting her chin on her hand with a worried expression. “What if she’s a vicious sister who takes away all of Father’s love and steals all the family property, leaving my brother and me destitute on the streets?”
After hearing this, Chu Rou threw her head back and laughed, which aggravated the injury on her back, causing her to wince in pain. "Ouch!"
"Sister Chu Rou, are you alright?" Qi Lin asked in a panic.
"It's nothing," Chu Rou said, not daring to laugh too much. "You seem to watch too many TV dramas; you have quite the imagination."
"Do you think Qi Hang is just for show?" Chu Rou pointed at Qi Lin's head. "Besides, your mother, your brother, and you probably own a lot of shares in Qi's Group. Even if your father is biased, he wouldn't give Qi's Group to your sister!"
Qi Lin felt much relieved. "Sister Chu Rou, you're right. I was overthinking it."
"This is the worst-case scenario. What if she's a good sister? If your sister is really bad, we'll beat her up and make her into a perfect pair."
Qi Lin nodded emphatically. With Sister Chu Rou around, there was no problem that couldn't be solved.
...
Chu Rou stayed in the hospital for three days. The wound on her back was quite deep, and the doctor said she would need at least a week before she could be discharged.
Xu Lan was also in this hospital. On the third day, she came to see Chu Rou wearing a hospital gown.
Seeing that Xu Lan's left arm was strapped to her chest, Chu Rou quickly asked, "Xu Lan, is your arm broken?"
"Yes, it was probably from being hit by nunchucks. It was so chaotic at the time that I didn't realize I couldn't lift my left hand until I got to the hospital."
Xu Lan sat by the hospital bed. "Sister Chu Rou, I heard you injured your back?"
"It's just a superficial wound, a small cut," Chu Rou said, feeling that her injury was far less serious than Xu Lan's. "Where's Feng Fei? Have you seen him?"
"The uncle only had superficial injuries; he left the hospital after getting his wounds bandaged."
Xu Lan looked worried. "Sister Chu Rou, the doctor said my arm will take at least two months to heal. What am I going to do about my job?"
Chu Rou was speechless. "Silly girl, this is a work injury. You almost lost your life, and you're still thinking about work. You're too dedicated."
"Just focus on recovering. You'll continue to receive both salaries, and I'll even give you a bonus. You can go back to work once you're fully recovered."
"Really? Thank you, Sister Chu Rou." Xu Lan immediately beamed with joy upon hearing Chu Rou's words.
Xu Lan sat for a while before the nurse asked her to go back.
Qiao Siying would come over every day to bring soup to Chu Rou and spend half a day with her.
Yuan Qian also came twice in three days, chatting with Chu Rou and gossiping about the wealthy families.
Chu Rou didn't recognize most of the people mentioned, but she memorized them all and listened with great interest. There were so many dramatic stories in wealthy families that Chu Rou could never have imagined.
Chu Rou was very grateful to Yuan Qian, knowing that she was being introduced to the circles of the wealthy.
Yuan Qian treats her like family.
That evening, Mo Chi didn't come to the hospital on time. Instead, he sent Chu Rou a message saying that he had some things to take care of and would come later.
But by the time Chu Rou woke up, it was already daylight, and Mo Chi still hadn't come to the hospital.
What's even stranger is that Qiao Siying didn't show up all day, and Yuan Qian also disappeared without a trace; nobody knows what they've been up to.
Chu Rou's sixth sense told her that something must have happened outside.
She hesitated whether to call Mo Chi to ask, when Qi Lin rushed into the ward, panting and with a glint in her eyes.
She poured herself a glass of water, drank it all in one gulp, and then excitedly said, "Sister Chu Rou, something terrible has happened! Mo Yuan has been taken away by the police."
