Late at night, after drinking heavily, Chu Rou fell asleep with the pinnacle of the human world! When entanglements arose, Young Master Mo stepped in to smooth things over. When company performance...
Chapter 288 Blind Date
“I can answer Miss Bai’s question for my sister,” Qi Hang said, his gaze icy. “Chu Rou is my older sister. She’s the eldest daughter of the Qi family. She’s academically gifted enough to get into a top university, and she can even beat a burly man. She owns a listed company and is currently the vice president of the Mo Group. Oh, and by the way, she also has a stepfather who is the vice mayor. What qualifications do you have to compare with her? You only have the Bai family behind you. What is there to be proud of?”
Bai Wan stood there, stunned, forgetting to shed tears. Only two words echoed in her mind: she was "finished."
Old Bai was also stunned for a moment. He knew that Chu Rou's identity was extraordinary, but he did not expect that Chu Rou was Qi Wende's biological daughter, and that she also had a stepfather who was a deputy mayor. She had a powerful background in both the business and political circles. She was truly rich and powerful!
Bai Wan offended Chu Rou today. If he doesn't teach her a lesson, he'll never get over this.
Just as Old Bai raised his hand, intending to strike Bai Wan a few more times, Qi Hang spoke up again.
“My sister told me that Miss Bai tampered with her medicine. This is not a good thing,” Qi Hang said casually, glancing at the clinic. “If this gets out, the Bai family’s century-old clinic will probably go out of business!”
Old Bai's hand froze in mid-air, his face turning ashen, his body trembling uncontrollably. He slowly withdrew his hand and sighed heavily, "Young Master Qi, just tell me, what do you want me to do?"
Qi Hang said indifferently, "My sister is grateful to Elder Bai for treating her health, but she can't tolerate the people who harmed her and want to take her place. We live in a society governed by law, and everything must be done according to the law."
"Miss Bai committed two offenses: drugging someone and attempting to sexually assault Mo Chi."
Old Bai remained silent for a long time, torn between his century-old family business and his own granddaughter. It was an incredibly difficult choice, but he had to make one today.
“Xiao Wan brought this on herself,” Old Bai’s straight back hunched over. “I’ll send her to the police station to turn herself in tomorrow.”
Qi Hang nodded in satisfaction, "I will leave two people behind to accompany you."
"Grandpa, you can't do this to me!" Bai Wan exclaimed, agitated. "I don't want to go to jail, I don't want to!"
Bai Wan tried to run out, but the bodyguards at the door stopped her.
Qi Hang clicked his tongue twice. "Mr. Bai, I'm not comfortable leaving Miss Bai here. I think I'll take her with me. We'll meet at the police station tomorrow."
Ignoring Bai Lao's reaction, Qi Hang waved his hand, and the bodyguards took Bai Wan away again. Qi Hang then left as well.
Old Bai closed his eyes. He knew Bai Wan had a terrible night, but he was powerless to help.
...
When Zhuang Ling got off work, she received a call from Mrs. Song, telling her not to come back to the Song family for dinner, but that she was going to take her on a blind date.
Zhuang Ling wanted to refuse. She was only 22 years old and didn't want to go on blind dates or get married. Besides, Madam Song disliked her and didn't believe she could introduce any good people to her.
"This is a task your father gave me before he went on his business trip. The restaurant reservations are already made. Do you want to stand them up?" Mrs. Song said with displeasure. "They are an important client of the Song family. If we offend them, can you bear the consequences?"
Song Hongyi hadn't mentioned the blind date to Zhuang Ling before, but after hearing what Madam Song said, she hesitated. Regardless of whether it worked out or not, she had to go and meet her. Moreover, judging from the tone, Madam Song was going to accompany her, so there shouldn't be any problem.
"Then send me the restaurant's location, and I'll take a taxi there right away."
Zhuang Ling took a taxi to the restaurant designated by Madam Song. The waiter greeted her and asked if she had made a reservation.
She gave the name of the private room that Mrs. Song had reserved, and the waiter led her upstairs to the door and opened it for her.
She went inside, saw Madam Song, and softly called out, "Madam, I've come."
At the Song family home, she didn't know how to address Madam Song, so she just called her "Madam" along with the servants.
Madam Song glanced at Zhuang Ling, then quickly turned her face away. She hated seeing that face the most; it was exactly the same as her wretched mother's, with a seductive look.
She gestured impatiently to the seat next to her, "Sit down, they'll be here soon."
Zhuang Ling sat next to Madam Song, and the two did not speak.
A short while later, a middle-aged man in his forties walked in. He was fairly good-looking, but his eyes gave people a chilling feeling when he looked at them.
"Mrs. Song, Miss Song, I'm sorry to have kept you waiting," Li Feng greeted them.
Mrs. Song stood up as soon as she heard the voice, her face beaming with smiles. "Mr. Li, you've arrived! We just got here too!"
Zhuang Ling also stood up and nodded politely to Li Feng.
Li Feng looked Zhuang Ling up and down, and was fairly satisfied. He walked to the opposite side of Zhuang Ling and said, "Sit down!"
Zhuang Ling and Madam Song sat down again.
The waiter came in with the menu to take orders. Li Feng took the menu and, without asking Zhuang Ling and Madam Song, directly ordered some dishes.
After the waiter left with the menu, Li Feng stared at Zhuang Ling without any restraint. "How old is Miss Song?"
“My surname is Zhuang,” Zhuang Ling corrected, “and I’m 22 years old.”
Li Feng raised an eyebrow, seemingly dissatisfied.
Madam Song quickly explained with a smile, "Zhuang Ling took her mother's surname, and she didn't change her surname after being recognized and brought back to the Song family."
Li Feng nodded. "Is Miss Zhuang currently attending school or working?"
"She's working at the Mo Group," Mrs. Song answered quickly. "Whether she continues working after marriage or stays at home to be a wife and mother is entirely up to you, Mr. Li."
Zhuang Ling's eyes widened. What did that mean? The person she was going on a blind date with was this Mr. Li? She thought it was her parent. This Mr. Li looked about the same age as her father.
When the food arrived, Zhuang Ling ate it like it was nothing, pondering how to call off the engagement.
“Miss Zhuang,” Li Feng put down his chopsticks and said to Zhuang Ling, “Do you know anything about my family?”
Zhuang Ling shook her head stiffly; she knew nothing and didn't really want to know.
“I have been married three times and have three children. My eldest is 20 years old, the youngest is only 3 years old, and the last one is 10 years old,” Li Feng said with a sense of accomplishment when talking about his children. “I love children very much, so I hope that after we get married, we can have a few more.”
Zhuang Ling swallowed what was in her mouth and stood there stunned. "Married three times?"
Is this a joke? Even if she lacks a father's love, she doesn't need to find an old man who's been married three times!
“Zhuang Ling,” Mrs. Song glared at her warningly, “President Li is a devoted man. His previous wives all passed away; they were not divorced.”
After Mrs. Song finished speaking, Zhuang Ling's heart clenched even tighter. It was terrifying. Marrying this President Li meant that she would either get a divorce or become a widow!
This man is a jinx to his wives.
Zhuang Ling felt she needed to calm down, so she stood up and said, "Excuse me, I'm going to the restroom!"
After Zhuang Ling left, Li Feng frowned and said, "Mrs. Song, Miss Zhuang doesn't seem very satisfied with me!"
Madam Song took a pill out of her bag and threw it into Zhuang Ling's wine glass. The pill quickly dissolved.
Li Feng observed Madam Song's actions and a slight smile appeared on his lips.
“Once things are fait accompli, she has no choice but to agree,” Madam Song said with a fawning smile. “Mr. Li, do you think my brother has any opportunity to participate in that huge project in the Nine Domains?”
