Chapter 162 The Uninvited Guest

The couple boarded a horse-drawn carriage that circled the city.

Unlike the usual fully enclosed carriages, the carriages used for wedding celebrations are more like open-top sports cars.

Li Aili held a bouquet of flowers, her face covered by a thin white veil.

Arthur sat upright beside her, his white-gloved hands clenched into fists and resting on his knees.

Clearly, the man wasn't as relaxed as he appeared.

This actually made Li Aili relax. "Darling, relax."

"They've already cut off our local newspapers a month in advance because of this wedding."

"Believe me, nothing can stop our wedding unless God comes!" Li Aili laughed.

The carriage moved slowly forward, and Arthur remained calm and wary of the crowds on both sides of the road.

His Highness the Duke, his blue eyes sweeping discreetly over the crowd, said, “Believe me, the world’s hostility towards me is far deeper than you imagine, my dear.”

Li Aili: "..."

Li Aili smiled and raised one hand, waving slightly to the people on both sides of the road.

Upon seeing their beloved and beautiful city lord wave, all the onlookers couldn't help but scream.

The sheriffs who maintained order had to work very hard to prevent the crowd from spilling onto the road.

Someone prepared the 'Saint Phil' roses for the celebration and threw them in front of the carriage.

One person took the lead, and soon the other citizens who had taken wedding-themed flowers followed suit.

“Look, Arthur!” Li Aili saw countless flower branches thrown on the road.

Soon, the road in front of them turned into a 'road of flowers'.

No one asked the citizens to do this; they love Emerald City and their city lord, so they voluntarily offered their blessings for their city lord's wedding.

Arthur's blue eyes softened. "You are an outstanding lord, it's only natural that they admire you."

But things don't seem to be that simple.

The people in front threw flowers, and those waiting for the city lord's wedding carriage to pass by received the news.

"We can't let those ahead of us outdo us!" said Old Jack, now the owner of a high-end handmade leather shoe store on No. 1 Commercial Street.

He was surrounded by the old buddies of the shopping street, and among them, the fool with red, swollen eyes was young Tom.

His first love was shattered today.

Old Jerry pulled out a member-only Devil Summoning Ticket (skip the queue), asking, "Besides delivering packages, can these devils also take on wedding flower-scattering services?"

The shop owners around the street fell silent, then one of them poured a can of chicken blood directly onto the summoning scroll, saying, "Why don't we just ask?"

Soon, a devil appeared, "Member Specialist 996 is at your service. Hello, how can I help you?"

"Do you take wedding flower-scattering services?" Old Tom asked tentatively.

devil:"……"

As Li Aili's carriage passed through the No. 1 Commercial Street, Arthur beside her suddenly raised his head and squinted at the sky.

"What's wrong?"

Then she saw things falling from the sky.

Arthur spotted the demon hiding in the sky, and only looked away after confirming there was no problem.

“It’s a petal.” Li Aili caught a petal that had fallen from the sky.

Then, more petals fell.

It was as if a cloud in the sky had specially sent down a rain of flower petals just for her.

The scene was so beautiful.

Soon, Li Aili found the source of the petal rain.

From the crowd, a group of portly shop owners waved proudly at her and shouted, "Lord! Do you like this 'petal rain'?"

"Happy wedding!! Waaaaah—" Tom cried out, his face covered in tears and snot.

Arthur didn't encounter an enemy to stop him from getting married, but he did find a 'love rival' first.

The handsome Duke's face darkened instantly. He gripped Li Aili's hand tightly, asserting his 'official status'.

The photo stone, stuck in the carriage's groove, perfectly captured this beautiful moment.

The shop owners on No. 1 Commercial Street brought the wedding carriage procession around the city to a climax.

So much so that the citizens who followed couldn't think of a better idea to celebrate for their respected lord and duke.

The shop owners on the commercial street have completely blocked the way.

The residents of the latter half of the road silently vowed that unless the shop owners drastically reduced their prices, they would not shop at their stores this year!

With that in mind, everyone could only express their love for the city lord with even more enthusiastic applause and more flowers.

Li Aili couldn't stop laughing when she saw the bubbles above everyone's heads.

Arthur looked at her curiously. "It's nothing, I'll tell you later~"

The Duke gave her a meaningful look. "If there's time."

"Your Majesty the City Lord~~~ Happy Wedding!!" The little girl by the roadside shouted loudly with an air of grandeur.

That voice completely drowned out what the Duke was saying.

Li Aili approached Arthur, "What?"

Arthur looked at his wife with affection.

The carriage arrived at the entrance of the auditorium on time.

The best man, maid of honor, and guests have arrived.

Because Li Aili's father, the Marquis of Nice, was not suitable to attend the wedding.

So, Li Aili walked alone, holding her bouquet, towards the groom who stood before her, eagerly awaiting her, to the accompaniment of the sacred wedding music in the hall.

The twins of Grand Knight Leo of the Knights acted as flower girls, walking in front of Li Aili and scattering flowers for her.

Special thanks to the Druid Association.
