This is a fantasy world where angels and demons dance together, elves and dwarves play mahjong, and every imperial royal family member has a dragon.
In the Campbell black market, there is an ...
The duke outside the door was silent for a moment, his voice lower than usual.
How did you know it was me?
Li Aili stood up and walked to the door. "Because Conrad knocks at longer intervals than you do."
"It must be because of the argument that you were typing 0.5 seconds faster than Conrad."
She analyzed it calmly.
The Duke outside the door: "..."
"...Can you open the door for me, Ellie?"
Li Aili thought for a moment.
She locked the door because she was angry and didn't want to see men.
But now that she's calmed down, she's not angry anymore.
The only reason she wouldn't open the door for the man could be to punish him.
But the problem remains unresolved, making such punishment meaningless.
So, Li Aili unlocked the door.
Outside the door, the Duke held a silver tray filled with a basket of tempting sandwiches.
Crisp, tender green lettuce leaves, slices of ham exuding a rich meaty aroma, delicious chef's special mayonnaise, and sweet and sour pickled cucumbers.
A six-inch assorted cake made of chocolate mousse, pistachio cake, cherry cake, strawberry cake, and cheesecake caught Li Aili's eye.
If you had to pick something that looks out of place on a tray, it would probably be a poorly fried sunny-side-up egg.
Then, looking at the man's rolled-up shirt sleeves, "Did you make this?"
The Duke's jawline tightened slightly. "Yes."
Li Aili glanced at him, then stepped aside to let him in, saying, "Let's talk inside."
Sensing Li Aili's coldness, the man's blue eyes darkened.
After entering, Li Aili returned to the dressing table and put the parchment on the table into the drawer.
The Duke followed behind her and placed the silver tray on the dressing table.
The moment the drawer closed, his eyes caught sight of a line of text on it, and in an instant, his blue eyes hardened with a furious rage.
Li Aili casually picked up a sandwich and asked, "Have you eaten?"
The Duke forcefully suppressed the storm in his eyes.
“…No.” His voice sounded a little tired.
A person who is usually tough can be all the more pitiful when they unintentionally reveal their vulnerability.
Upon hearing this, Li Aili nodded, "You can ask the kitchen to make another one for you now."
Unfortunately, the timing was wrong.
Duke: "…………"
Li Aili picked up another sandwich and took a small bite with a "whoosh".
The Duke suddenly bent down and bit off half of it, right where she had bitten it.
Li Aili: "..."
Just as the Duke was about to speak, he noticed the empty medicine bottle on the table.
He felt like his scalp was about to explode.
The Duke's voice trembled uncontrollably at the thought of some of the potions his wife had made and their terrible side effects. "What did you drink?"
Li Aili calmly took in his reaction. "Forced calming agent."
Fearing the other person might not understand, Li Aili thoughtfully added, "Without this potion, you wouldn't have been able to get through this door."
Duke: "..."
In the spacious bedroom, the tall and handsome duke carefully observed his wife and found that apart from being overly calm, she had no other problems for the time being.
The Duke tentatively said, "I... want to talk to you."
Li Aili watched as this seemingly powerful and invincible man became cautious and timid in front of her.
Under the influence of the calming drug, an idea popped into her head.
Is continuing this relationship really good for both of them?
Just then, the Duke knelt down on one knee in front of her. "I'm sorry, Ellie, did I scare you a little earlier?"
“Sometimes…” He pursed his lips, stopping himself in his tracks.
"Forgive me, Ellie, it's not that I didn't want to tell you."
"Countless times, I've stood in front of your door late at night, wanting to tell you everything."
"But I'm even more afraid that if I tell you, I'll lose you."
After listening, Li Aili calmly asked one question: "Do you think that if the problem is laid out clearly, it will easily cause conflict?"
"Or is it more likely to cause conflict if we cover up the problem and let it accumulate until it completely explodes?"
Arthur looked at her in silence.
Li Aili understood and nodded. "Alright, we've finished talking. I'm going to the Tianma Tribe tomorrow. Is there anything else?"
"It's nothing, I'm going to wash up and rest."
"Can we go back to sleep? You can sleep on the bed, and I'll sleep on the sofa."
Li Aili thought about it calmly.
I feel that if I insist on sleeping here, I'll have to sleep on the floor.
No matter how comfortable you make a floor mat, it doesn't change the fact that it's a floor mat.
Wouldn't that be punishing herself?
So, Li Aili nodded.
After taking a relaxing bath, Li Aili wrapped her hair in a towel and prepared to go to sleep.
Arthur kept his promise and took his pillow to the sofa. When he turned around, he saw Li Aili with her hair wrapped in a towel, yawning as she crawled into bed.
With her eyes closed, Li Aili felt the edge of the bed sink slightly.
Li Aili: "..."
She felt that this scoundrel of a man couldn't act like a decent human being.
Little did she know, Arthur's outstretched hand simply untied the towel covering her hair and then gently began to wipe it as if it were a precious treasure.
"Go to sleep, I'll dry your hair for you."
Li Aili buried her face in the blanket and whispered, "Come back to sleep after you're done wiping..."
Soon, she fell into a deep sleep.
In her dream, she saw that platinum dragon again.
The giant dragon was furious, leaping and bounding about, gesturing wildly and howling.
