Chapter Seventeen: Dragon Gem Necklace

Li Aili was still standing on the stairs when she saw wooden crates covering the entire first-floor lobby.

Each chest was filled with gold coins.

She almost tumbled down the stairs because she lost her footing.

Thanks to a strong arm, she was pulled out from behind in time.

Arthur Cold Jade slowly released his grip on her slender waist. "Calm down, darling."

Li Aili gripped the railing with one hand and clutched her heart with the other. "No, I can't stay calm! If this minotaur robbed the bank, what legal responsibility should I bear?"

Arthur Cold Emerald raised a slight eyebrow. “Goblin Bank? There is no goblin bank in the Kingdom of Clark.”

Li Aili: "..." Thank you, I feel comforted!

Li Aili held onto the stair railing as she descended the stairs, her steps still trembling, as if afraid that the minotaur had some kind of 'ultimate move' up his sleeve.

"Madam! Your potion is amazing!" The minotaur grinned from ear to ear as he saw Li Aili come down.

Li Aili looked completely bewildered. "Huh?"

The minotaur, Ba Jin, excitedly slammed his fist on the box of gold coins, making a loud "bang!" "Look! This is all from your potions! God! They're making so much money!"

Li Aili walked in a daze to a box containing gold coins, and roughly estimated that there were at least five thousand gold coins inside.

There are 20 such boxes.

10, 10 Ws? ???

Li Aili was stunned.

She painstakingly prepared healing potions for so many days and sold them to the Duke, only to earn 16,200 a month.

She felt she was asking for an exorbitant amount of compensation for the burned-down Campbell's shop, so she demanded 50,000 gold coins from the Duke.

All together, she only has 66,560 gold coins, yet she thinks she's a little rich woman.

But what the heck is this minotaur?

Not only did she sell all her junk in one day, but she also managed to sell the trash for a staggering 100,000 gold coins.

Li Aili couldn't hold back any longer and asked, "Could you tell me how you did it?"

The minotaur chuckled, revealing a set of large white teeth. "That's a long story."

Duke Cold Jade glanced at the time and said calmly, "Then let's talk about it at the dinner table."

Ba Jin Niu Tizi was stunned, and awkwardly tugged at his old clothes that were a bit faded from washing. "Ah! I'm just a lowly minotaur from the underground city. Do I really have the honor of dining with noble lords and ladies?"

Hey, we've seen plenty of hypocritical nobles. Hopefully, you're the ones eating while we stand by drooling.

Li Aili's lips twitched slightly. "Do you have any dietary restrictions? Like, what kind of meats do you avoid?" For example, beef ^_^.

Ba Jin's smile became more genuine. "I'm not picky about food! I'll eat anything!"

So, there were three people sitting at the long table at the banquet today: two people and a minotaur.

Li Ai Li and the Duke sat at opposite ends of the long table, with Ba Jin Niu Ti Zi sitting to the Duke's left.

Once seated at the table, Ba Jin's mouth never stopped, as he talked incessantly about his experience selling medicine.

Ba Jin said, "Let's first ask a fellow villager who's doing well in the duchy about the market."

“There was a wealthy old man in the upper district who was a merchant. He had a problem: he had too much body hair.”

"Because of this, he was even ashamed to use public bathrooms. Every time he was about to go into the pool naked, the staff would stop him and make him take off his sweater and long johns before going into the water."

Li Aili: "..."

"Ha! What a coincidence! I just thought your 'smoothing potion' would be perfect for this gentleman."

Li Aili was briefly shocked. "Wait! My potion is for treating... treating 'that'!"

A lady should not talk about toilet matters too bluntly at the dinner table.

Ba Jin Niu Tizi shyly picked up a whole steak with his fork, then 'whoosh'ed it into his mouth, chewed it a couple of times, and swallowed it down.

He said with an honest expression, "But isn't it more effective at removing hair?"

Li Aili: "..." It was she who was narrow-minded.

She paused for a moment, then quickly accepted reality.

"Then how do you communicate with customers about the side effects of the product? For example, you could say, 'This hair removal product you're selling actually helps with digestion.'"

Across from him, Arthur Cold Jade glanced at Li Aili, who had a serious expression, with a complicated look on his face.

Ba Jin called over the male servant behind him and whispered, "Hey, buddy, this steak is amazing, can we have another one?"

The servant immediately went to fetch the steak.

Turning back, Ba Jin continued, "Hey~ I asked him before I sold him the medicine if he could accept some minor side effects, like diarrhea."

Cold Jade threw her fork aside, wiped her hands with a napkin, and ended her dinner early.

"That gentleman asked me which was more painful, the full-body waxing treatment that was done every seven days or so."

"Hey, compared to that, I think diarrhea is nothing~ Don't you think so?"

Li Aili: "…………" Waxing every seven days??

I'm more curious about what kind of creature this guest is!

While waiting for his steak, Ba Jin Niu Tizi didn't stop eating. He picked up the Pompeii seafood chowder next to him and started taking big bites.

Slurping his noodles heartily, the minotaur continued recounting his legendary sales experience.

"Oh! Right, and your 'hair growth potion,' although I don't know why men turn into women after drinking it. Heh~ I dare not try it."
