Chapter 176: Starry Sea Turmoil

In the vast and boundless universe, a vast pale orange cluster of galaxies hangs upside down among the endless Milky Way.

Around the orange-red sun with a diameter of 2.7 million kilometers, twenty or thirty planets of different sizes and colors rotate and circle along elliptical orbits.

Between the planets, lights like shooting stars scatter alternately. They are countless spaceships and star-track trains soaring among the stars. They shuttle between countless interstellar aircraft carriers and space stations, adding a touch of bustle to the originally lonely space.

This is the Longdi Galaxy, the base camp of the celestial civilization, 0.7 light years away from the Konghai Galaxy.

In the fourth planetary orbit around the sun, a blue planet is particularly eye-catching.

Two straight silver pipes extended far out from its two sides. They were two space elevators. At the end of the space elevators was a space station with stacked circular cabins. The size of the cabin station was comparable to a small continent on the surface of the planet.

From one angle, it looks like a little girl with two silver pigtails.

Its former name was Yuze, and now it is called Tianrenxing. The headquarters of the Tianren Alliance is located here.

In the center of the largest red earth continent on Tianren Star, the magnificent Great Council is situated among the bustling cities.

The massive chamber, accommodating ten thousand people, was filled with a clamor of activity. Countless figures moved among the densely packed seats, each one hurried in and out with anxious expressions.

Above their heads, dozens, perhaps even hundreds, of small robots, resembling giant birds with computer-like faces, flew through the air. Many of the birds had flashing red lights on their heads, and various alarms blared from their speakers.

Whether pedestrians or machines, they all have a common goal, which is the podium located in the center of the parliament and under the high walls.

On the several-meter-high wall, the winged celestial statue is particularly eye-catching under the illumination of spotlights;

Directly below the Celestial Being symbol, more than a dozen politicians in formal attire sat behind a semi-arc-shaped rostrum. Translucent holographic projection screens continuously emerged above the precision machinery around them. These large and small square screens were stacked together, and the dozen or so people sitting in the rostrum seemed to be surrounded by a blue beam of light.

Every time the blue screen appeared, it was accompanied by a terrifying message prompt:

"Universe Corporation has issued an alert. Insect unrest has occurred on its two planets, Zhuyue and Xuanyin. The Universal Authority has issued a Level 1 Red Alert for natural disasters and requested reinforcements from the Alliance forces!"

"Thousand Island City in the Waveless Sea has fallen! The Allied 7th and 10th Mecha Squadrons have arrived to reinforce!"

"Insect swarms have broken out across multiple locations on Gombe! The entire planet has entered a state of extreme alert. The highest local authority has requested approval from the Grand Council for mobile support from the nearby Steel Dome Fleet!"

"Inter-Konghai communication is now connected! We can now confirm the planets where the insect swarm has broken out: Clark, Changyang, and Tiemu, all under the Konghai Business Alliance; Lingyuan and Lingmu, under the Yari Company; and Luye, under the Nord Company..."

Similar alarm sounds continued to ring, and their combination with the incessant ringing of telephones and machine warnings in the hall brought the chaos in the parliament to its peak.

"Steel Dome Corporation has applied to deploy antimatter star destroyers..."

"What did you say?!" In the center of the rostrum, a busy and exhausted bald man stared at the person who delivered the message with wide eyes.

"Uh, Steel Dome Corporation..." The messenger repeated to the bald man while holding a portable holographic computer.

"No! Are those lunatics at Steel Dome a joke? What do they think of human life?"

The bald man shouted angrily, then cast his gaze upon the screens before him. Behind him, a sturdy old man patted his shoulder with a wry smile, then turned to the young man in charge of communications.

"What is the target?"

"The target is... a mining planet under the Steel Dome, yet to be named, located in the Equinox system."

The old man smiled, asked the young man to leave, and sat down next to the bald man.

"Why are you so angry? At least the people from Steel Dome informed us."

"You're the only old, retired idiot in the entire House who still has the nerve to make sarcastic remarks," the bald man replied without even looking up. "Can't you see how urgent the situation is? Instead of chatting with me, why not go to the front lines in Thousand Islands City and command the mecha troops? After all, you're their old leader."

The old man shook his head: "I no longer have that power. It would be better to say..."

He had only said half of his words when a red screen suddenly appeared in front of everyone.

Amidst the continuous blue screen, the bright red stood out so glaringly that the noisy council hall instantly fell silent. Everyone's eyes were focused on the screen. There were only five words written on it:

"Gombe lost contact."

The cold prompt sound echoed in everyone's ears along with the text.

"Lost contact?"

The bald man's voice trembled. "Where's the nearby Steel Dome Fleet? Haven't we approved them to go to the rescue?"

"They...are a step too late." The young man in charge of the contact just now responded weakly. "The top management of Steel Dome has issued an ultimatum to the Alliance."

He read the words on the screen in front of him with some disbelief: "Our company has lost confidence in the Alliance's support capabilities and will take compulsory measures to deal with the Zerg crisis on our planet. As for any problems that may arise during the crisis, all responsibility will be borne by our company..."

"What a great way to take responsibility for it yourself!" The bald man laughed in anger. "Is Steel Dome planning to betray the Alliance?"

The young man didn't dare to speak, but the old man spoke first: "They are just like that."
