Fang Ruotang, a frail and unremarkable girl from the Prime Minister’s household,
one day found herself pestered by a tiny, cutesy creature called the Mirror of Reversal—
and it star...
"Why are you so wary of my third cousin?" Fang Ruotang realized what was going on, touched her chin, and looked at him with a questioning expression.
Her little expressions were like words carved into her face, and the Shu family was used to it. She had always seemed a bit slow-witted since she was little, and even now that she had a spirit, she hadn't become any more clever.
The Crown Prince had seen it so many times that he was used to it, but Huo Zhige had only heard about it before. Now that he saw it with his own eyes, he couldn't help but burst into laughter. He pulled Fang Ruotang into his arms and vigorously rubbed her face with one hand.
"Just what kind of precious darling are you?"
Fang Ruotang looked up blankly, puzzled as Huo Zhige went crazy again, but quickly accepted his behavior and continued to chase after the little mirror for answers.
The little mirror spoke vaguely, changing the subject.
Fang Ruotang narrowed her eyes, threatening in a cute but fierce way.
If you don't tell me, I'll abandon you. Go find your master! You're his anyway.
Little Mirror: ...
Can't we use a different tactic to deal with him?
[...In the original timeline, he didn't marry or have children. He was... killed while trying to save you.]
Fang Ruotang clenched her fist in anger, but for once she was quick-witted and grasped the key point.
[By whom?]
The little mirror looked up and down, left and right, at the pure white space. It was impossible for it to meet Fang Ruotang's gaze, but it just couldn't bring itself to look directly at her.
Will you tell me or not?
"Whoever hugged you is the murderer!" Little Mirror muttered under his breath.
Fang Ruotang slowly raised her eyes and saw Huo Zhige, who had just smiled and revealed a set of bright white teeth, silently close his mouth, glance lightly at Shu Minglang, then look away and give Fang Ruotang a fawning smile. He looked so obedient and well-behaved, just like a silly dog protecting its master.
"Doesn't Huo Zhige like me? Why would he do something I don't like? Does he not like me at all?" Fang Ruotang asked, deeply questioning Huo Zhige's feelings for her.
Huo Zhige's expression changed, and his hands froze.
Is this inference wrong?
Is it possible that he resorted to forceful marriage because he couldn't get the woman he loved, and that Shu Minglang, like a flea, kept trying to take Fang Ruotang away from him, so he had no choice but to resort to underhanded tactics?
Could it be that he loves her too much?
How did it become a lack of love?
Huo Zhige was unconvinced and looked at Fang Ruotang with angry eyes.
Fang Ruotang pushed him away with her small hand and turned her face away, "Go away, you don't really like me, you will kill my third cousin."
Everyone: Is this something we can say?
Everyone: Oh, the object is Fang Ruotang, then it can be said.
It's not in her nature for her not to say anything.
Shu Minglang had just heard that he was going to be killed and felt a chill run down his spine, but now, seeing Huo Zhige's unspeakable suffering, he felt a sense of triumph.
Serves you right, you're not even human.
You dare to kill me!
Sixth cousin, mess with him.
Shu Minglang secretly gave Fang Ruotang a wink.
Fang Ruotang didn't see it because Huo Zhige held her small face in his hands, and he said with a firm and devout gaze, "You can doubt anything, but you can't doubt my feelings for you. I was born for you, remember that?"
Fang Ruotang rolled her big eyes and said arrogantly, "Will you hurt my family in the future? Let me make this clear first, if you will, I won't let you like me anymore."
"No way!" Based on the information he had received, Huo Zhige could roughly guess why the killing would have occurred in the original timeline.
In the original timeline, there was no Little Mirror. Given Fang Ruotang's naive personality and delicate body, she definitely wouldn't have been able to withstand being fought over by six men.
Moreover, six men even started a war for her sake.
Based on his current understanding of Fang Ruotang, although she is somewhat naive, she has never made a mistake when it comes to matters of principle.
In the original timeline, she definitely disliked him, which is why he became enraged and ruthlessly killed the person who tried to take her away from him. However…
Huo Zhige looked at the Crown Prince; he didn't think he was the only one who had taken action.
The Crown Prince raised an eyebrow, realizing he had the same idea as Huo Zhige. However, since the small mirror hadn't been exposed, he wouldn't take the initiative to claim it.
"Then I'll allow you to continue liking me! But if you hurt my family, I won't let you off the hook either," Fang Ruotang said fiercely, her still-childish face tense.
Huo Zhige felt a jolt in his heart. He touched her cute little face and said seriously, "As long as you don't refuse to stay by my side, I definitely won't go crazy."
"Hmm, as long as you listen to me."
Fang Ruotang completely failed to detect the threatening implication in Huo Zhige's words. She was even somewhat pleased by his maturity and nodded at him with satisfaction, like an adult.
Huo Zhige smiled but didn't say anything more.
When Fang Ruotang left, she did not forget to give Wei a few words of advice.
"Remember to kill that guy surnamed Liu, so he won't become a menace." Fang Ruotang looked innocent, but she was talking about murder.
No one present felt anything was wrong. They were all privileged individuals in positions of power, and secretly killing a civilian was no more difficult than stepping on an ant.
"Good girl, your eldest cousin knows what to do. Thank you for this, little sister-in-law. Your eldest cousin has made some nice new jewelry, I'll have someone send it to you later."
Fang Ruotang chuckled and said, "I don't want my cousin's money, I want to use my cousin's private funds. He can't go drinking with other women if he doesn't have money, so I'll let him buy it."
Madam Wei smiled, feeling that she hadn't spoiled her little cousin too much.
Shu Mingcheng pleaded, "Buy, buy, buy whatever you want, I'll buy it for you. Can we just let this go? I really feel innocent."
Fang Ruotang gave a haughty snort, and left the Shu residence with a triumphant look on her face, followed by three carriages.
