The apocalypse arrives, but the five girls in Dormitory 806 haven't realized how serious the situation is until their roommates die one by one before their eyes. It wasn't until Cheng Zhi h...
After watering the vegetable garden and having breakfast, the group left the space and immediately contacted their relatives and friends. The typhoon had been raging for three days; in their previous life, the internet had been cut off on the third day, and the signal had been extremely poor ever since, quickly paralyzing the entire communication system. Who knew when they would be able to get back in touch?
Cheng Zhi looked at her smiling parents on the screen, her nose kept tingling, but she tried her best to control her tears, rambling on about the precautions, and hung up the phone a second before her tears fell.
After hanging up the phone, everyone was feeling down. Chen Siyu's eyes were red, and she choked up as she said, "Actually, I'm still quite scared. I'm afraid that even if I restart, I'll still die, and I'm also afraid that in the end I'll be the only one left alive."
Who isn't afraid of this? Cheng Zhi wiped away her tears and forced a smile. "We've done everything we can, and our family has made preparations. We must try our best to survive and meet them again."
The internet went down after lunch.
Students from the next dorm braved the wind and rain to knock on their door, asking if the campus network was down again. Although Cheng Zhi and her group knew the inside story, they couldn't give a direct answer so readily, and could only pretend they knew nothing.
After closing the dormitory door, Cheng Zhi frowned and started thinking. "The internet is down, and the electricity will be out in a couple of days. We won't be able to contact anyone, and we'll have run out of food in the dormitory. Everyone will be knocking on doors asking to buy things, just like last time. Should we just stay put or go out and raid the place?"
Xiao Feiran, who was sitting with a face mask on, was the first to speak up, "Of course we have to go on a raid! I really want to go to the library. Anyway, there's no internet or electricity, so no one can see how many books we take. If we expand our space a bit more, we can stock up on even more stuff."
Huang Yiyi, who was watching an online class, agreed, "Yes, the things we stock up on will only last for three years at most. If the apocalypse doesn't end in three years, we'll have to grow our own food. If we expand our space, we can grow more things."
Cheng Zhi snapped her fingers and nodded in agreement. The other two also agreed, and the five of them finalized their plan to raid the area over the next few days.
For the next four days, there was some noise in the dormitory building when the power went out, but there was no other major disturbance afterward.
Some students from nearby dormitories came to borrow power banks and bread. They did give out bread to one or two students, but they didn't lend out power banks, since they didn't have much electricity themselves.
A fierce wind was blowing outside, and the flowers, plants and trees downstairs were all uprooted. Cheng Zhi kept an eye on the situation outside every day, hoping that there would be a moment when the wind and rain would be less intense, so that they would have a chance to go out.
"Holy crap! Is that a person?!" Zheng Wan, who was sitting by the window, immediately picked up the binoculars she had used to watch the concert, jumped up from her seat, and peered out through the glass door. She couldn't help but gasp. "My God, that really is a person. I've seen that reflective windbreaker he's wearing before; I think it belongs to someone in our field."
The other four came over when they heard the noise. Cheng Zhi took the binoculars and looked inside. She saw that the boy was lying on his back in the flower bed, letting the rain wash over him. Debris kept falling on him, but he didn't move. He was probably in grave danger.
All five students in room 806 stood by the door, silently praying for the boy.
At midnight, the wind was still howling outside. The dormitory building was basically pitch black due to a power outage, with only a few dorm rooms emitting faint light.
With the power out, Cheng Zhi washed her hair and let it air dry, since she wasn't planning on sleeping anyway. She laid out her yoga mat by the glass door, intending to see if the wind and rain would subside during the night.
Xiao Feiran, who was already in bed, poked her head out from behind the curtains and suggested that everyone take turns keeping watch, two people a night, one responsible for the first half of the night and the other for the second half. Everyone agreed.
Xiao Feiran nodded and snapped his fingers at Cheng Zhi, "Wake me up at three o'clock. Don't stay up all night by yourself. If you dare not wake me, I'll beat you up tomorrow."
"Alright, alright, Master Xiao, go to sleep now, or you'll wake up, hahaha..." Cheng Zhi waved her hand, signaling them to go to sleep quickly, "Maybe the wind and rain will subside later, and then you won't be able to sleep."
Chen Siyu, who was sitting on the bed making the bed, shivered and chuckled twice. "Hehe, I feel both excited and scared when you say you're going out."
Huang Yiyi across from her burst into laughter, "Hahahaha, you're obviously bad at the game but have a huge addiction to it!"
Chen Siyu pretended to be fierce and threw a cushion at him, saying, "How dare you talk about my business? Say it again and I'll kill you!"
After everyone played around for a while, room 806 finally fell silent.
Without internet access, Cheng Zhi simply listened to music with her headphones on, her eyes fixed on the outside, hoping that the wind and rain would subside when the night was deep and quiet.
At 3:30, Cheng Zhi gently shook Xiao Feiran awake. Half-asleep, Xiao Feiran sat up and pressed his face against the glass door, trying to wake himself. Cheng Zhi hadn't gone up yet; she gently squeezed Xiao Feiran's shoulder, trying to fully wake him.
Before Xiao Feiran was fully awake, Cheng Zhi became serious and pressed herself against the door, observing through binoculars.
Five minutes later, Xiao Feiran also woke up, but not naturally; she was awakened by the gradually diminishing sound of the wind.
"Holy crap, am I dreaming? It really is smaller." Xiao Feiran asked in a low voice, his eyes practically glued to the glass door.
Cheng Zhi didn't answer. Instead, she opened the door and walked straight out, leaning half her body over the railing.
This action really startled Xiao Feiran. He was about to rush up and pull the person down, but just as he took a step, Cheng Zhi came back on her own, wiping the rain off her face, her eyes revealing joy, "Let's stick close to the wall and walk. We shouldn't be blown away. Let's get ready to move."
