“Your Majesty, should there be a next life, this concubine wishes to never have met you, and to never see each other for all eternity.”
Yu Jingchen hated her, yet the last thing she did i...
Everything outside was ready. Yu Jingchen released Nan Zhiyun and then naturally took her hand, their fingers intertwined.
"Let's go," Yu Jingchen said.
Nan Zhiyun didn't resist and was led out by Yu Jingchen. But just as they were about to leave, Nan Zhiyun began to feel timid.
Yu Jingchen clearly sensed it too. He turned to look at the little girl beside him and said, "Don't be afraid, I'm here, okay? Trust me." Yu Jingchen coaxed her gently.
Nan Zhiyun pursed her lips, and Yu Jingchen tentatively led her away. Fortunately, this time Nan Zhiyun did not hesitate. They had been waiting outside for a long time, and now that they saw the two of them emerge, they quickly helped them into the carriage. Yu Jingchen helped Nan Zhiyun into the sedan chair before getting in himself.
"Prepare the carriage for Cixi Palace!" Xinglai roared.
Yu Jingchen's imperial carriage was definitely not something that ordinary sedan chairs could compare to. Nan Zhiyun didn't feel much of a bump while sitting on it. Yu Jingchen gently pulled the little girl sitting next to him closer to him, letting her lean against him.
"Lean on me if you're tired," Yu Jingchen said.
Nan Zhiyun glanced at Yu Jingchen, and the sedan chair left Zichen Palace. Looking at the surroundings, Nan Zhiyun felt a great deal of unease.
Her hands tightened their grip, which Yu Jingchen clearly felt. He hugged the little girl and said, "Don't be afraid, it's okay, okay? If you're scared, just hold on to me, be good." Yu Jingchen gently patted Nan Zhiyun's back.
Nan Zhiyun hid in Yu Jingchen's arms, not wanting anyone to see her like that. But there are always those who are oblivious and arrive at the worst possible time.
Upon hearing the news that Yu Jingchen was taking Consort Shu to Cining Palace, many people in the harem became restless. And sure enough, groups of them flocked over.
"Your Majesty, we are your concubines." Several concubines, led by Consort Yin, all came over.
Yu Jingchen frowned. Anyone with eyes could see he was getting impatient, but those women just couldn't. Were they blind? They had absolutely no tact.
Nan Zhiyun also heard the sound, and through the crack, she saw the group of people. A strong sense of revulsion welled up inside her; she didn't want to see them.
Yu Jingchen felt Nan Zhiyun's discomfort in his arms and felt a slight pain in his heart. However, he naturally couldn't direct his displeasure at Nan Zhiyun, so... Yu Jingchen shifted his focus and looked down at the group of women dressed in flamboyant clothes.
Yin Xiuyi? In her past life, she must have done quite a few good things to Nan Zhiyun, right? Since she's now walking right into the line of fire, she might as well settle things once and for all.
Yu Jingchen didn't call them to rise, so the people below remained in their bowing posture. They were clearly on the verge of collapse, but Yu Jingchen showed absolutely no intention of urging them to get up.
"Your Majesty~" Consort Yin began.
"What are you all doing here?" Yu Jingchen asked coldly.
"My concubines and sisters were strolling in the garden admiring the flowers when we heard that His Majesty had arrived, so we came here specifically to pay our respects to him," said Consort Yin.
"Do you have eyes now?" Yu Jingchen asked her, his tone sharp.
Yin Xiuyi was completely bewildered by the question. What did that mean? Before he could figure it out, he heard Yu Jingchen say something else.
“If you had eyes, how could you not see that there are people here? Consort Shu is right here, are you all blind? Can’t you see her?” Yu Jingchen continued.
The people below turned pale upon hearing this. Nan Zhiyun? Of course they knew her, but no one took her seriously.
"Isn't Consort Shu's position above yours? What kind of behavior is this? Where have you learned your manners? Or have you gotten disgusting stuff in your eyes?" Yu Jingchen was in a very bad mood and took it out on these people.
Yin Xiuyi's face was deathly pale. She didn't know what to do. How could they possibly be willing to submit to Nan Zhiyun?
"What? Didn't you understand what I said?!" Yu Jingchen raised his voice, which startled not only Yin Xiuyi and the others, but also Nan Zhiyun, who was in his arms. She shuddered and trembled all over.
Yu Jingchen sensed it and patted Nan Zhiyun's body, saying, "I wasn't mean to you. Don't be afraid. Be good, lean against me comfortably. If you don't want to watch, then don't. We can hide, okay?" Yu Jingchen's tone was gentle. His current behavior completely surprised everyone below. Was this really His Majesty?
Yin Xiuyi looked at the woman above with anger in her eyes, a mixture of jealousy and resentment. Why?
Although Yu Jingchen did not miss the emotions in his eyes, he immediately felt murderous intent and his eyes turned cold.
"Do I need to repeat myself again?!" Yu Jingchen asked.
"Your concubines dare not!" Everyone immediately knelt down.
"This concubine greets Consort Shu!" Everyone faced upwards and bowed in greeting, except for Consort Yin, who acted like a fool, making her expression so obvious.
Yu Jingchen looked at her and was speechless. There really was no one more stupid than Yin Xiuyi.
"Guards! Consort Yin has shown no respect for hierarchy, has committed treason, and has obstructed the Emperor's procession. She is hereby demoted to the Baolin Temple and punished by copying the palace rules a thousand times, and given thirty strokes of the cane! Take her away!" Yu Jingchen did not hesitate for a moment.
Only after Yu Jingchen issued the punishment did Yin Xiuyi finally come to her senses. How could this be? She couldn't believe that His Majesty would punish her for such a simple matter.
"Your Majesty..." Just as Yin Xiuyi was about to kneel down and beg for mercy, Yu Jingchen waved his hand and ordered his men to take him away, leaving his words stuck in his throat.
