Zhou Xinyi wiped the sweat from his face; his training uniform had been torn in several places by the zombies.

He had broad shoulders and long legs, a solid frame, and a face with distinct features, but his eyes were extremely charming and captivating. However, the gaze in those eyes was sincere and firm, possessing a convincing power.

Pull the pin on the last grenade in his hand, release the firing pin, and throw it downwards.

"Bang!" The grenade exploded, and the low-level zombie, which was almost on the roof, was blown away.

Not long after the explosion, several mutated ivy vines suddenly sprang up from downstairs and surrounded the rooftop where they were.

Before the apocalypse, Professor Liu received a call from a student in City T, who discovered that the Virginia creeper (Parthenocissus tricuspidata), which had just been cleared, was growing at an abnormal rate outside the small building of the suburban experimental center.

Professor Liu Yunguang of the Institute of Botany, Chinese Academy of Sciences, immediately drove from City A to the neighboring City T after receiving the call.

Recently, we have received many reports of abnormal changes in plants worldwide.

Professor Liu was deeply worried about this, feeling that something ominous was about to happen.

In the early days of the apocalypse, he was in the laboratory studying a crystal the size of a fingernail that he had dug out from the base of a Virginia creeper.

However, those around them inexplicably fell into a coma and did not wake up until three days later.

Later, with the advent of more scientific storage equipment, this place was abandoned, and occasionally some grain harvested from the surrounding experimental fields would be stored here.

There were about 20 researchers in the small white building, most of whom had turned into zombies.

Several people were bitten by zombies; some died on the spot, while others were assimilated.

In the end, only Professor Liu, Lin Conghai, and two fellow researchers survived.

Several bags of unhulled rice were recently placed in the safe house; the food should last for a while.

With Lin Conghai awakening his water-based superpowers, the water supply is now guaranteed.

The four of them survived for nearly two months in the basement, eating rice soaked in water.

During this time, they tried to escape from the building, but for some reason, whenever they left the room, mutated plants would emerge from the cracks in the building to intercept them.

Those mutated ivy plants had sharp, knife-like leaves. After the four of them suffered several losses, they obediently hid back inside the house and never dared to come out again.

Just as they were finishing off the few bags of rice, the emergency communication equipment in the safe house suddenly got a signal. Professor Liu quickly contacted City A and requested assistance.

After receiving the news of rescuing Professor Liu, Zhou Xinyi led more than twenty elite soldiers to T City.

After a series of close calls, they arrived safely at the small white building on the outskirts of T City and successfully met up with Professor Liu. It was already evening by then.

So the soldiers decided to rest for the night in this seemingly safe little white building before leaving.

As a result, in the dead of night, the mutated plants, which had been dormant for two months, suddenly erupted and squeezed in through every crack in the small building.

As if summoned, the novice zombies also gathered towards the small building, and the soldiers who came to rescue them and Professor Liu and his group of four were immediately trapped inside the building.

However, the mutated plants continued to grow tirelessly, attacking them, while zombies from the surrounding area kept gathering, surrounding the small white building on three layers.

Space-powered warrior Pan Jian loaded the last magazine and aimed his submachine gun at the zombies rushing towards him.

Tap tap tap, tap tap tap...

A burst of bullets rang out, and several zombies that had just climbed onto the roof fell to the ground. A gap was also punched in the wall formed by the dense mutated plants.

Amidst the billowing smoke, Pan Jian could vaguely see several people running towards the small building through the breach in the wall.

The leader was a tall, burly man who held a large hammer, the hammer crackling with lightning.

To his left was a young girl with a pink bun hairstyle, carrying a Bluetooth speaker used for square dancing; her figure appeared and disappeared intermittently.

Upon closer listening, he could hear music playing from the speaker. The music was powerful and majestic; Pan Jian recognized it and the name was on the tip of his tongue, but he didn't have time to think about it at the moment.

Beside the little girl stood a handsome young man, wielding a machete, exuding a menacing aura.

To the right of the tall, muscular man was a girl dressed in a sparkly mesh outfit. She was carrying a huge pink spiked club in one hand and running at full speed, exuding a powerful aura.

A fair-skinned boy followed closely behind the girl, carrying a smaller version of the same kind of club.

"Company Commander Zhou, look over there, someone's coming to our aid."

The ability users' vision and hearing have been evolved, making them much better than ordinary people. Zhou Xinyi turned his head and saw these people running towards them in a line, accompanied by background music, like superheroes making their entrance.
