After Rebirth in the Apocalypse, My Whole Family Are Big Shots

Bai Xizhu only survived three years in the apocalypse before she died. Returning to before the apocalypse, she accidentally activated a portable space, which came with ancient mythical beasts from ...

Chapter 144 Abandoned Building

Bai Xizhu used medicinal herbs and spiritual spring water from her spatial storage to make the pills.

Although it cannot completely neutralize the toxins of that mysterious drug, it can still hold out for a while.

The two nimbly entered the building, which was dark and deserted.

Bai Xizhu looked at Leng Yebai with a questioning expression in her eyes.

Leng Yebai frowned slightly and gestured to Bai Xizhu to calm down.

Zhang Yiming was pointing in this direction.

He had already read it once during the day.

Apart from this abandoned building, there's nowhere else to hide in this direction.

Leng Yebai and Bai Xizhu didn't use flashlights; relying on the faint moonlight, they walked back and forth in the building several times.

Still nothing was found.

The building has six floors and has a faint musty smell.

The walls were covered in cobwebs, making it look a bit like a dark room in an escape room.

Bai Xizhu reached out and touched the table next to her, her hands covered in a layer of dust.

Bai Xizhu squatted down on the ground again, looking at the clean ground, and finally noticed something unusual.

The building has six floors and covers a considerable area. As the number of survivors increases, many of them are unable to afford the crystal cores and simply sleep outdoors in the living area.

But no one was sleeping in the abandoned building.

There are no special ability teams patrolling this area, so why are there no survivors sleeping on the ground here?

Bai Xizhu and Leng Yebai exchanged a glance and then walked around the entire building again.

Old tables and chairs, cobwebs covering the walls, and a clean floor.

This time, Bai Xizhu discovered another problem.

In Bai Xizhu's memory, this building occupied a large area, at least 500 square meters from the outside.

But she and Leng Yebai walked around and covered an entire floor.

It seems there are still some hidden rooms we haven't entered.

Bai Xizhu gently tapped the wall with her fair fingers, and the wall made a thumping sound.

There was a slight echo.

Not only was there an echo, but there were also rustling sounds coming from inside the walls.

Bai Xizhu's eyes narrowed slightly, and her hand instinctively went to the wooden box at her waist.

Bai Xizhu squinted and looked around. There were no red dots, so it seemed that no cameras had been installed.

Since someone has disguised this place as an abandoned building, they won't install cameras outside to avoid arousing suspicion.

The rustling sound grew louder and louder, accompanied by the sound of footsteps.

In the quiet night, the footsteps were especially noticeable.

Bai Xizhu flicked her hand slightly, and a small white snake was flung out.

Before the water snake could even speak to its beloved master, it saw its master and his man vanish in a flash.

They entered the space.

The water snake blinked, obediently remaining silent and curling up to one side.

Bai Xizhu and Leng Yebai stood in the space, and under Bai Xizhu's mental control, they could see the scene outside clearly.

Suddenly, a crack appeared in the dusty wall, and an invisible door was opened.

Two men came out, each carrying a dim flashlight.

The flashlight cast a faint beam, which swept across the empty room.

The two men exchanged a glance, said nothing, simply closed the door behind them again, and then began patrolling the building.

After looking around, I found nothing except a small white snake in the corner.

The two of them didn't go back, and just stood in front of the invisible door.

Five minutes later.

There were more noises coming from outside the building.

An ordinary man dressed in rags walked in.

This was an elderly man in his fifties, holding a worn-out straw mat in his arms, his wrinkled face showing faint bluish-purple discoloration.

"The world has changed, and people have changed too!"

The old man sighed heavily, clutching his only possessions, and walked into the dark building.

Some strong young men robbed him of his few belongings. As an old man, he had no way to resist. The straw mat in his hand had a big hole in the middle, but those men didn't want it, so they left it behind.

His body was covered in bruises.

Even though he was the victim, the robbers complained that they didn't get enough from him and blamed him for being too poor.

The old man didn't want to see those people in the residential area anymore, afraid that if they saw him, they would beat him again.

Even though they were all survivors, there were still distinctions of high and low status.

The elderly and children are at the very bottom of society.

The old man sighed heavily and continued walking inside, still carrying the straw mat.

I'd heard that this building was haunted, and no one dared to move in.

He's become like this now, there's nothing to be afraid of.

The old man carried his straw mat to a spot on the first floor, spread it out, and sat down on it.

The old man touched the bruises on his face, sighed, and huddled in a corner to rest for a while.

The two men beside the hidden door exchanged a glance and strode towards the old man.

"who!"

The old man suddenly opened his eyes and stared intently at the direction from which the footsteps were coming.

He thought it was the people who had stolen his things coming again.

He really had nothing else, just a tattered straw mat.

Two unfamiliar men carrying flashlights appeared in front of the old man.

The old man breathed a slight sigh of relief when he saw that they were two unfamiliar men.

These two people were dressed cleanly, so they probably weren't cowards who were afraid to go out and find supplies.
