Bai Xizhu glanced at her overly attentive father, then at the colorful and beautiful crystals in the box, and immediately realized their value.

My father has a lot of integrity.

Normally, Mr. Bai is still the upright and incorruptible lawyer who refuses any bribes.

Bai Xizhu believed she was a money-grubber, but it was still inappropriate to ask for so many gifts for no reason.

Bai Xizhu closed the box and pushed it towards the base chief, signaling him to take the things back.

"Why not? It's free!" Leng Yebai pushed the box back and looked at the base commander. "Didn't you say you had something to do? If you have something to do, why aren't you leaving?"

The base commander glanced at the full bowl of rice and slowly put down his chopsticks.

"Well, I do have some things to take care of at the base, so I'll head back now. You guys enjoy your meal!" The base commander looked at the table full of food and swallowed hard.

This was all cooked by his son; it would be a shame not to eat it.

Bai Xizhu quickly pushed the box towards the base chief.

"Daughter-in-law, this is for you. Keep it safe." The base commander waved his hand, refusing to take it. "I have to leave quickly, or the base will be destroyed."

He dawdled and didn't move, his eyes occasionally darting to the food on the table, his Adam's apple bobbing.

Even though he's the base commander, he's never had such a delicious meal in the apocalypse, especially since it was cooked by his son. It smells amazing!

"How about... we eat before we leave?" Bai Anhai noticed the base commander's look.

"The base is about to be destroyed, he needs to hurry up and deal with things." Leng Yebai said calmly.

"Yes, I'm not hungry."

The base commander gave Leng Yebai a resentful look, watching as Bai Xizhu picked up the box to bring it to him.

The base commander quickly picked up his bowl and chopsticks, viciously stuffed a mouthful of green vegetables into the bowl, pressed it down, and there wasn't even a piece of meat in it.

He also wanted to eat meat, but the meat had all been placed in front of his daughter-in-law by Leng Yebai, so he didn't have time to think and could only pick up the pieces closest to him.

Just as they were about to run away with the bowl, Bai Anhai couldn't stand it anymore and decisively placed a large duck leg on top.

"My in-laws are such kind people!"

The base commander quickly dropped a sentence, grabbed his bowl, and ran off.

In front of unfamiliar people, Bai Xizhu naturally had to maintain a ladylike image.

"Xiao Zhu, are you not having a good appetite?"

Leng Yebai became nervous as he watched Bai Xizhu eat with small bites.

They were worried that Xiao Zhu's injuries were serious.

"It's alright, it's pretty good."

Bai Xizhu continued to eat in small bites with a reserved demeanor.

Leng Yebai frowned, suspecting that Xiao Zhu had suffered severe internal injuries, which was why she was eating so little.

Throughout the meal, Bai Xizhu was stared at by Leng Yebai countless times. Bai Xizhu didn't eat much, just the normal amount a girl would eat.

Leng Yebai could only let Bai Xizhu drink more spiritual spring water, and would pour water into Bai Xizhu's cup from time to time.

Eating food from the space and drinking spiritual spring water are the fastest ways to recover your body.

Bai Xizhu couldn't remember that she had superpowers, nor could she absorb crystal cores anymore.

Even with the handsome Leng Yebai staring at her, Bai Xizhu's head was getting increasingly foggy, and she was feeling sleepy.

After carefully covering himself with a thin blanket and turning on the central air conditioning in the bus to make sure the temperature was comfortable, Leng Yebai quietly got off the bus.
