A polymath synth artist defies her parents' plans by casting a scarlet fingernail into a nest of mummified womb-senators.
Upon its removal, the urn erupts, seven scaly impure miners surge...
Fu Hange sat alone on the sofa, lost in thought, holding an orange in her hand, but without even peeling it, her hands reeking of the orange. She silently prayed that the bathroom door would never open, or at least open slowly, so she could think of a solution.
She tried to pray that Gu Yuan would be too exhausted to do anything else after he came out. The sound of water was still gurgling inside, and Fu Hange kept calculating in her mind.
There seemed to be a sound coming from the bathroom. The door finally opened, and Gu Yuan came out wearing a bathrobe this time, unlike last time when he was wrapped in a towel. His hair was freshly washed and still dripping wet.
"I have a room next door, you can stay there." Gu Yuan said and went upstairs.
Fu Hange stood there dumbfounded. It seemed she had been overthinking things. Gu Yuan had no interest in her at all. Perhaps the only woman who could interest him was someone like Bai Xin, who knew how to coax and act coquettishly, unlike her, who had no femininity whatsoever.
Fu Hange didn't sleep well, tossing and turning, her mind filled with thoughts of what she would do if she were really pregnant. Even so, she remembered reading in books that nausea was a common symptom of pregnancy, and besides, she and Gu Yuan had just...
She was still filled with doubt, but the answer seemed obvious. She just didn't know whether she should keep the child, or whether Gu Yuan wanted it. The more she thought about it, the more confused she became. Fu Hange turned over, burying her head in the pillow, trying to forget about it for now. She hadn't slept well last night because of Gu Yuan's antics, and tonight, finally, Gu Yuan had given her a break; she really wanted to get a good night's sleep.

The night was as still as water. The window of Fu Hange's room was open, and a cool breeze blew in, slightly dispelling her anxiety. She secretly thought that no matter what the outcome was, she had to go to the hospital tomorrow.
Upon entering Mingheng, Fu Hange saw Bai Xin busy in Gu Yuan's office, first tidying up his things and then going to the break room to grind coffee. It seemed Gu Yuan had given her the password; otherwise, she wouldn't have been able to get in at all. Fu Hange felt a slight sense of disappointment.
Once Gu Yuan started working, he remembered that Fu Hange was standing next to him, and said to her, "By the way, go and see if Mingheng needs any help."
Bai Xin almost burst out laughing, but hid to the side and tried her best to hold it in. But there was still a hint of laughter in her voice: "It's the entire Mingheng."
The meaning couldn't be clearer: it simply meant letting her wander around and do everyone else's work.
Fu Hange immediately refused: "You asked me to come, but since there's nothing important, I'll go back to the Xu family."
Gu Yuan didn't say anything, but Bai Xin immediately stopped her: "Do you want to be sued again?"
These words froze Fu Hange in place. They always used this trivial matter to blackmail her, but she had no choice but to comply. Seeing Bai Xin's confident demeanor, it seemed she wouldn't let her go today. However, she couldn't leave until the day was over. Her doubts remained, and she couldn't eat or sleep properly.
Ignoring Bai Xin, he looked at Gu Yuan and said, "I'm not feeling well."
Gu Yuan put down his work and glanced at Fu Hange, but his gaze was a little strange. Seeing his hesitant expression, Fu Hange felt inexplicably uneasy. Had he seen through something?
Fortunately, Gu Yuan soon withdrew his gaze and said, "You can go now."
This infuriated Bai Xin. She kept trying to signal to Gu Yuan with her eyes, but Gu Yuan was too busy with work to pay any attention to her.
