In her previous life, Bai Ying gave everything she had to the sect—her heart, her soul, her loyalty. But all she got in return was disdain.
Her Master despised her, her senior brothers aban...
The monsters greedily licked their blood-stained fangs, their scarlet eyes gleaming with ferocity in the darkness.
They slowly turned towards the white fireflies, saliva dripping from between their white teeth, as if searching for their next target.
But when they looked at Bai Ying, suddenly, a bone-chilling cold swept through the entire forest clearing.
The lead six-eyed demon wolf froze first, its six glowing green eyes shrinking to pinpoints. This ferocious beast, which had once torn apart countless cultivators, was now trembling uncontrollably. The mane on its neck stood on end, its sharp claws dug deep into the soil, yet it instinctively retreated.
Bai Ying stood quietly in place, without even making any attacking gestures. She simply swept her eyes, colder than polar ice, over the group of demonic beasts.
"Waaah—"
The wolf suddenly let out a shrill howl, a sound completely unlike its ferocious hunting demeanor, more like that of a stray dog whose tail had been stepped on. It turned and ran madly, even crashing through a maple tree as thick as a bowl, before disappearing into the depths of the dense forest without looking back.
The other monsters fared even worse. The three-tailed fox collapsed to the ground; the iron-backed bear clutched its head with its two front paws and rolled away like a ball; the most ferocious, the blood-toothed boar, was laughable, frantically charging at its companions before finally flipping over on its back, struggling to push itself backward with its hooves.
The other monsters scattered and fled, disappearing into the night in the blink of an eye.
Madam Xia slumped to the ground, her elegant dress now soaked in mud and blood, looking utterly wretched. She stared intently at Bai Ying, the hatred in her eyes almost tangible, as if she wanted to tear her to pieces.
Clearly... clearly those demonic beasts were so afraid of Xia Qingdai!
If she had just been willing to help, Yuwei wouldn't have died!
But she did absolutely nothing!
She even used a barrier to keep Yuwei out, watching helplessly as she was torn apart and devoured by the demonic beast!
Madam Xia trembled violently, tears mingling with blood streaming down her face. Her fingernails dug deep into her palms, leaving gruesome bloody marks. She suddenly looked up, her voice hoarse as a wailing ghost:
"You beast!!"
"That's your sister!! How could you... how could you just stand by and watch her be eaten alive?!"
"You're not even human...you're worse than an animal!!"
Madam Xia blamed all the faults on Xia Qingdai.
She already knew that Xia Yuwei had drugged Xia Qingdai first and that she wanted Xia Qingdai to die.
Now, her death is simply a consequence of her own actions.
If Xia Yuwei hadn't drugged her, she would still be perfectly fine now.
But Madam Xia didn't care at all. Her hysterical wails echoed throughout the venue. Her hair was disheveled, her makeup ruined, and she pointed at Bai Ying like a madwoman, cursing her:
"You could easily kill those beasts! So what if Yuwei attacks you? You won't die!"
Her bloodshot eyes bulged as she glared: "How could you use the methods meant for monsters on Yuwei? She was just confused for a moment! She's so weak... so pitiful! You vile woman! Give me back Yuwei! Give me back my daughter!"
The onlookers all wore expressions of disbelief. A woman in green couldn't help but speak up, "Has this woman gone mad? Xia Yuwei clearly struck first..."
"How ridiculous," the burly man beside her sneered. "Her daughter was 'confused for a moment' when she plotted the murder, and now that she's getting her comeuppance, she's blaming others for not repaying evil with kindness?"
A murmur of discussion arose from the crowd.
Bai Ying looked at her coldly, her eyes full of sarcasm.
Xia Yuwei, in a moment of "confusion," plotted against Xia Qingdai twice, and the first time she actually killed her...
Bai Ying truly couldn't understand how there could be such a biased mother in this world...
Her own mother was like that... and now Xia Qingdai's mother is the same...
It didn't matter what mistakes Xia Yuwei made, even if she bit Xia Qingdai's fangs again and again, she still thought it was a trivial matter.
Conversely, it was Xia Qingdai's fault that Xia Yuwei reaped the consequences of her own actions...
Seeing this, Xia Mingde quickly grabbed his wife's arm and whispered a reprimand: "Madam, watch your words!"
His gaze shifted to Bai Ying, a fawning smile plastered on his face, but his eyes gleamed with shrewd calculation.
—Xia Yuwei is dead, so be it. Anyway, she wasn't my biological daughter.
But Xia Qingdai is different. She is so strong that as long as she acknowledges the Xia family, the Xia family can rise to the top in one step!
“Qingdai is our own flesh and blood, while Yuwei… is ultimately just an outsider. How could you say such a thing to your own flesh and blood!” He spoke lightly, as if he were talking about something insignificant.
"Come on, quickly apologize to Qingdai, and let's just let it go. Don't mention Yuwei's matter again; she deserved it."
Madam Xia turned her head sharply, staring intently at Xia Mingde, her eyes surging with resentment and hatred.
She clenched her teeth so tightly they almost broke, but in the end, she said nothing.
She hated Xia Qingdai, but she knew even better that the Xia family truly needed this bitch's power!
She simply couldn't bring herself to apologize. She truly hated her!
Seeing that Madam Xia remained unmoved, Xia Mingde quickly shoved her and urged, "Quickly! Apologize to Qingdai! How can a mother and daughter hold a grudge overnight? We are family!"
Mrs. Xia clenched her fingers tightly, thinking of the right words.
Bai Ying suddenly let out a cold laugh.
"A family?" Her voice was as cold as ice, and in the moonlight, her face was as pale as frost. "We don't look like a family at all."
