She, Liu Nian, has lived for thousands of years, completing one task after another, transmigrating into various books. This time, the book she transmigrated into gives her the most headaches.
The Li family was the wealthiest family in their small village at the time, and their food, clothing, and daily necessities were many times better than those of other families.
The Wei family was even poorer than the average family.
Because they had no money, they had to beg for help when something happened.
Su Ke still remembers that when his uncle went to the Li family to ask Li Hua for money to save his grandmother's illness, he was right next to his uncle.
He watched his uncle kneel down, pleading repeatedly, while Li Hua looked down at them with the same disgust he would show to something filthy.
In the end, Li Hua still gave his uncle 20,000 yuan and an IOU, as if it were charity.
What did he say at the time?
"This is the last time. If you borrow again next time, you'll have to pay interest."
His uncle thanked him repeatedly and pulled him away from the Li family. As he was leaving the Li family's gate, he turned back to look at Li Hua, but unexpectedly, he met someone else's gaze.
Li Hua was holding disinfectant and spraying the spot where they had just been sitting, the disgust in her eyes so obvious.
Su Ke, who was only about ten years old at the time, already understood what Li Hua meant.
He looked down on them.
Even though he knew the Li family looked down on them, Su Ke was still very good to Li Yue. Starting from junior high school, he helped Li Yue with her homework to earn money. He did all of Li Yue's homework, which indirectly led to her poor academic performance. It was also intentional on his part.
However, in some ways, he was genuinely good to Li Yue. Unlike her father, Li Yue didn't look down on the poor; she would do her best to help them, which was why Su Ke later treated Li Yue with special affection.
However, none of these reasons could stop him from being with Liu Nian.
Su Ke knew exactly what Li Yue was thinking.
“Li Yue, do you remember when your father lent money to your uncle, he asked for interest?”
Li Yue stared blankly at the small notebook in Su Ke's hand, completely bewildered.
Su Ke gently flipped through the accounts with his fair fingers, found the page with Li Hua's loan, and showed it to Li Yue.
“This is what your father lent us years ago. My uncle kept a record of it all here, and it was paid back a few years ago.” As he spoke, he took out his phone and asked, “What is your father’s bank account number? I’ll pay him back all the interest in there.”
Li Yue understood now, and she looked at Su Ke with a pale face: "Why?"
"It's nothing. I don't want to disrupt my and my family's normal life for some unnecessary reasons."
His family? Did she influence his family? Actually, no. Li Yue understood who Su Ke was referring to as his family.
She stopped eating, got up, and her eyes were blurry with tears.
She wiped herself haphazardly, then looked at her grandmother and forced a smile: "Grandma, I remember I have something to do, so I won't have dinner with you now. I'll come see you another day."
Then, as her grandmother hesitated to speak, she stormed out of the door.
Su Ke remained calm, fiddled with his phone for a moment, transferred all the interest to Li Yue, and then sat down again.
"Xiao Ke..."
"Grandma, stop talking."
In the end, the two fell silent.
Liu Nian learned about the studio's situation from Attorney Fang at the law firm and felt that things were stable in terms of the fund.
So she went straight home.
Su Ke went to her grandmother's house and had already told her when she would be back. However, she didn't expect to see Su Ke sitting alone in the living room as soon as she got home, seemingly lost in thought.
"Weren't you supposed to be back tomorrow? Why are you back so soon?"
Su Ke, who had been lost in thought, suddenly snapped back to reality upon hearing Liu Nian's words, only to realize that Liu Nian had returned.
"elder sister."
Liu Nian nodded, sat down next to him, and asked gently, "What happened?"
Su Ke shook her head, and sadly rested her head on Liu Nian's shoulder.
Because of the height difference between the two, Su Ke had to stand a little further away from Liu Nian to avoid neck pain when doing this movement.
Liu patted his head lightly, and Su Ke's soft hair brushed against her neck, causing a slight tickle.
Su Ke was feeling down, and Liu Nian sensed it. She didn't know what had happened when Su Ke went back to see his grandmother, but since he didn't say, she didn't ask.
"How long have you been back? Want to go see a movie?"
Su Ke rarely gets a day off, and the two of them seldom go to the movies.
Liu Nian's suggestion was good, and Su Ke immediately took out his phone to book movie tickets.
"What would you like to see, sister?"
Liu Nian thought for a moment and said, "A romance movie!"
Su Ke bought two movie tickets; the screening was from 5 PM to 7 PM.
It was still early, so the two went out for a meal.
When it's time, we'll go to the movie theater.
Su Ke told Liu Nian to wait for him while he went to buy popcorn.
"Sister, wait for me here, I'll be back in a bit."
Liu Nian nodded and glanced at the popcorn stand not far away.
Su Ke jogged over to buy popcorn.
Liu Nian waited in place when suddenly a car horn sounded from the road not far away. Liu Nian looked over in that direction.
Two children, around seven or eight years old, were trying to cross the road, while a car was approaching from one side.
Not wanting tragedy to happen, Liu Nian ran over quickly, grabbing one child in each hand. Just as the car was about to hit them, Liu Nian pulled the two children back with incredible speed, narrowly avoiding a collision.
The car horn was quite loud, attracting many passersby, some of whom exclaimed in surprise.
A series of sounds caught Su Ke's attention, and he also saw Liu Nian running towards the two children as if her life depended on it.
His mind went blank for a moment, and before he could call out to Liu Nian, the popcorn in his hand fell to the ground.
