Chapter 63 A False Alarm

After breakfast, Shen Xu wrapped the mud hanging in the backyard in cloth and sent it to the blacksmith shop in town.

Using a furnace, the wax is first baked and removed to form a hard model shell. The shell is then sintered and heated, and molten iron is poured into it. After cooling, the shell is knocked off, and the black iron parts are exposed.

Li, the owner of the blacksmith shop, held up a bunch of parts that had been cast without any bubbles, and looked at them. He praised them repeatedly, "My dear, your husband Song really knows everything. This lost wax casting technique requires some skill. An ordinary blacksmith can't make such a delicate cast steel shell."

Chen Xu pursed his lips and smiled faintly, "Boss, you're too kind. By the way, is the steel sheet I asked you to forge a few days ago ready?"

Blacksmith Li nodded and took out a long piece of steel. It was covered in shiny black cloud patterns, a very beautiful sight. "I haven't taken any work these days. I've only been working on this piece of iron. After all these days, it looks like it's full of cracks. Is it really useful?"

"I don't know either. My husband asked me to get it."

Shen Xu chuckled and shook his head. He bent the steel sheet slightly to test its flexibility. When he felt it was acceptable, he took out a blueprint from his pocket and instructed, "Boss Li, please help cut it into this shape. Cut off these parts as well."

Blacksmith Li frowned as he looked at the blueprint. While cutting, he asked, "What on earth is this? It will take another two or three days to cut these things."

Chen Xu did not explain much, and simply added two more taels of silver, asking the boss to grind it roughly and come back to pick it up.

When she got home, Song Lin had already finished his shift. He changed into his bamboo-leaf green and white gown. Seeing that she was not at home, he was about to go out to look for her.

"Where did you go?"

"I just wandered around the street." Because she had spent the entire day watching blacksmith Li casting molten steel, Shen Xu felt tired and hungry, and her abdomen was aching slightly.

"You're playing around again and skipping lunch."

"I ate some beef patties on the street." She quietly pressed her hand to her abdomen and walked into the yard with a smile. "It smells so good. What are we having for dinner? I'm starving after walking around all day."

Song Lin scooped a bucket of water and washed her hands, "Come in quickly."

After they finished dinner, Shen Xu felt that her abdominal pain still had not subsided, but she still sat in front of the desk and copied books as usual. Suddenly, the pen in her hand paused.

She felt a warm liquid flowing between her legs and subconsciously reached out to touch the cushion.

It's all blood...

"Xiu Xiu, what's wrong with you!" Song Lin hurried forward to support her. Seeing that her hands were stained with blood, he was shocked and quickly picked her up and ran to the clinic.

Shen Xu's face turned pale, and his voice was full of worry, "Will I die?"

"No, don't be afraid." Song Lin was also very scared and almost ran to the clinic.

Arriving at the clinic, Song Lin tugged at the doctor's sleeve and anxiously said, "Doctor, Xiuxiu is bleeding profusely. Please save her!"

Shen Xu in his arms asked weakly: "Doctor, am I going to die?"

The doctor frowned as he looked at the two anxious people, scratched his head awkwardly, and asked the midwife from the clinic to take someone down to check.

Song Lin anxiously and awkwardly described his previous symptoms and what happened last night to the doctor, suspecting that he had hurt someone by indulging himself in excessive sexual activity...

The doctor at the clinic shook his head and sighed, "Alas, children without mothers are pitiful. Didn't Old Song teach this?"

Then he took Song Lin to give him some health education.

Song Lin, a big guy, blushed when he heard this. He asked in disbelief, "Does it really have to bleed so much every month?"

Wouldn’t that mean that he would bleed to death and really die?

"That's why they say giving birth is like having one foot in the gates of hell." The doctor patted Song Lin on the shoulder and explained, "Don't be nervous. Take your wife home and take good care of herself. She'll be fine. If you feel any abdominal pain, drink more ginger tea and hot water."

"Okay, no problem." Shen Xu walked out with a red face, holding a thick paper bag in her hand. It was obvious that she had just been taught a lesson.

Song Lin breathed a sigh of relief. He immediately paid the money and took the paper bag from Shen Xu's hand.

Just as he was about to leave, the doctor called out to him, "By the way, Constable Song, the child you brought in yesterday has woken up. Do you want to go see him?"

Song Lin looked at the still bright sky outside and nodded. He took off his coat and draped it over Shen Xu, then took the paper bag from her hand. The two followed the doctor into the ward.

I saw a boy of seven or eight years old sitting on the hospital bed with a blank expression. His upper body was naked, wrapped in bandages, and there were small scratches on his face and lips. He looked pitiful.

Song Lin asked, "Child, what's your name? Where do you live? Who else is at home? How can I contact them?"

The child raised his eyes and looked at the people who came in. He was a little shy and pursed his lips without saying a word.

"What happened to him?"

The doctor replied, "Maybe he was frightened. His brain is not damaged. He will be fine after resting for a while."

"By the way, Constable Song, since he's awake, please take him home to take care of him and let him recuperate. And by the way, settle the medical bill."

Hearing that the doctor wanted him to take the child home, Song Lin frowned slightly. "Can't this child stay in the clinic for a few more days?"

"There's nothing we can do. Our clinic only has two beds for emergency patients. Since this child was brought here by Constable Song, he should be the one responsible."

Song Lin was in a dilemma. This child was the only surviving witness of the robbery and murder on the official road. He was waiting for him to wake up so that he could take a statement and contact his family. But now the child was frightened and refused to speak.
