I married a petty hooligan in place of my sister, living a life of poverty. Who knew that my husband would suddenly transform into a mysteriously powerful and influential tycoon?
Jiang Can co...
Huo Zhixing looked at her quietly.
Jiang Can suddenly read a complex emotion in his deep eyes. Her heart pounded, her palms were sweating, and her lips were tightly pursed into a line.
After a long while, she finally heard her husband's deep, slow voice:
"I searched for this shop for a long time and negotiated with the landlord several times before I finally rented it and decorated it like this."
Jiang Can was slightly taken aback.
“You said you wanted to open a coffee shop.” His expression was gentle, and his rough fingers lightly caressed her face. “I’ve always kept that in mind.”
"So I used my free time to compare several shops and finally chose this one. It's because I felt that this place met your requirements."
“Wife,” he said in a deep voice, full of affection, “I may not have any other skills, but whatever you want, I will do everything in my power to get it for you.”
Jiang Can's heart skipped a beat, and she gripped his hand tightly.
"This must have cost a lot of money, right?"
"Hmm, it's a bit much." He figured she wouldn't believe him if he said less, so he decided to exaggerate. "The prize money from the previous two competitions, plus my salary and commission from this period, is just enough."
Jiang Can actually felt a little sorry for him.
She knew he earned a lot of money from each match, but it was all earned through hard work and physical exertion. The reason she didn't want his salary card was that she didn't want to squander his hard-earned money.
She wanted him to treat her better, to let her eat or buy whatever she wanted, and to spend money as she pleased.
Just don't hoard it.
He never expected that he would spend the money, but in the end, it was all spent on her.
"Didn't I tell you to keep the money safe?" she said, looking at him with a hint of reproach.
"I'm keeping it for you anyway." He smiled. "Fortunately, I was able to fulfill your wish, so the money was well spent."
"I have so many wishes!" she pouted. "Can you help me fulfill them one by one?"
"It definitely can."
He held her tightly, letting her little head rest against his chest.
Jiang Can's smile was as warm as the sun. She could hear his strong heartbeat, but she couldn't hear the fear surging in his heart.
She didn't know that all he wanted now was to do better and better, so that when his true identity was revealed, she might be unable to leave him.
Huo Zhixing led her around to the back of the bar, selected light roast Ethiopian coffee beans, and put them into the coffee machine.
“Let me be your first customer today,” he said, raising an eyebrow and smiling. “Give me an iced Americano.”
Jiang Can smiled and agreed, then proceeded to make coffee with great enthusiasm.
As dusk settled outside, the plane trees by the door swayed gently in the breeze. Inside, the aroma of coffee filled the air. Jiang Can nestled close to Huo Zhixing, gazing at the distant sky with a faint smile on her lips.
It was as if she was stepping into her own colorful dream.
...
The café held a small opening ceremony over the weekend.
Jiang Can and Huo Zhixing struggled for several days to come up with a name for their coffee shop, and finally decided to use something from the local area.
It's called the Purple Iris.
The yard is full of these flowers, and the purple iris symbolizes happiness and love.
The weather was clear that day, with large clumps of white clouds floating in the azure sky, and the surrounding area was filled with the vibrant colors of summer.
Huo Zhixin was the first to arrive with a congratulatory gift. Before she even entered the door, she was already clamoring for milk tea and desserts, and she also wanted to pack some to take back as a late-night snack.
However, upon seeing Huo Zhixing's serious face, they immediately froze at the door like mice before a cat.
"What's wrong?" Jiang Can tugged at him and chuckled, "Oh right, you haven't met Miss Huo yet, have you? Let me introduce you!"
Huo Zhixing was pulled by her to Huo Zhixin.
The two exchanged a glance, and Huo Zhixin used all her strength to suppress the bursts of laughter that were rising within her.
"Honey, this is Miss Huo, Huo Zhixin, the one who saved me last time."
"My dear, this is me..."
"I know!" Huo Zhixin put her arm around Jiang Can's neck and smiled at Huo Zhixing. "This is your husband, Gu Mang!"
"Hello, brother-in-law!"
Huo Zhixing remained expressionless.
"Husband?" Jiang Can nudged him with her elbow. "Zhixin is saying hello to you!"
Huo Zhixing glanced at Huo Zhixin, mumbled an "Mmm," and turned to go behind the bar to check the oven temperature.
Jiang Can frowned, not understanding what was wrong with this person, but she felt a little awkward in front of Huo Zhixin. Would she think that the couple hadn't treated their guests well?
"Dear, I'm so sorry," she said with a smile. "My husband is usually very serious and not very warm to people... but you'll know he's a really, really good person once you get to know him!"
Huo Zhixin nodded, suppressing a laugh.
From childhood to adulthood, Huo Zhixing was called a "little brat" by his second uncle and a "cold-faced devil" and a "demon" by other family members.
He turned out to be a good person when he got to Jiang Can.
It seems my older brother's skills in making women happy have improved!
Jiang Can made Huo Zhixin a cup of milk tea, reminded her husband to keep an eye on the oven time, and then turned around to clean the yard.
The aroma of cream wafted from the oven. Huo Zhixin quietly approached, intending to launch a sneak attack from behind. However, Huo Zhixing turned around first, crossed his arms, frowned, and a sharp glint appeared in his eyes.
Huo Zhixin gasped and quickly clutched her pounding heart.
"Hey...brother."
The man raised an eyebrow, a half-smile playing on his lips. "Don't call me that. I'm your brother-in-law."
Huo Zhixin stuck out her tongue and gave a dry laugh.
His face darkened. "What are you doing here?"
"I..." Huo Zhixin said innocently, "I really came to congratulate you with good intentions! Besides, Sister Jiang Can asked me to come, I didn't come uninvited!"
